Why I kill other players (outsided of defense/necesity):
UltimateGentleman replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
I shall just clear this up. They aren't playing the game, they're playing the alpha of the game. If the game is riddled with douchebags that treat the spawn points like the beaches of Normandy and mow everything down they're probably not going to buy the full game. They supported the development by getting the standalone and immediately are thrown in to a world where pretty much all people do is shoot each other rather than enjoy what the alpha has to offer beyond that. Why try out all the cool hunting and whatnot if everyone you meet is just going to shoot at you anyway. Just because you have the freedom to do whatever you want doesn't mean you can do it people will get in the way and spoil the hunting you want to enjoy. I'm sure you can understand that much. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion

Meaning they don't have to cater to the people who want authentically varied ammo i.e. you. They should be doing whatever gets them the most money, that's how business works this isn't some romantically put together game for the sake of the die hard fans it's a game put together for profit, like...pretty much all games today. What is DayZ supposed to be? It's never supposed to be 100% realistic and they never said it would be. Plus things change, a promise was broken? Boo hoo. -

I'm part of your problem perhaps. And that's not my problem. Lol PC gaming is hardcore? Whatever bro. It's not hard to buy or play PC games at all you must be part of the "elites" ha ha ha... You can play PC and be casual, it's possible, there are casual games on PC. Battlefield and CoD are still on PC and guess what, people play them! More people have bought the Standalone than have ever played the mod. If we assume every person who got the mod bought the Standalone then yes the "casuals" who never played the mod are in the majority and the majority takes the priority(unintentional rhyme I promise) DayZ is a product they cater to who gives them the most money, if you think DayZ is different from any other game you're wrong at the end of the day the goal is still money. We're helping testing the alpha? You must be confused, most people just want to play DayZ. Have you ever seen how many people complain about the game being broken on this very forum? Evidence enough that people probably don't even understand what early access entails. You're lying if you say you haven't seen people say shit like "I can't believe they call this a game what a rip-off it's not even finished!" You mod players need to realize you're outnumbered by people who didn't play the mod. And they play DayZ because 1 it has zombies and zombies are popular 2 it's supposed to be realistic and better than other shooters. -

Maybe because it is fact that more deemed "casual" players have the game than "hardcore" players who played the mod. The people who played the mod are pretty much the only people who give a damn that's why Rocket or whoever it was says most people don't, the "casual" people don't, "casual" = majority so yeah not hard to work out. DayZ is a common game now, it may have a more than casual variety but it's not for some elite sect of "hardcore" gamers. It's up to the fans whether or not they want to stick with the more casual experience or go back to the mod. You care we don't. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
UltimateGentleman replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
Not the red underlined I. You want both, the majority doesn't so it doesn't need to be in the game for most people who play it to enjoy the game. I'm not sure why you think ammo variety would make the game suddenly more popular. DayZ already offers a very different experience from the typical casual games, if people play it they're going to enjoy what it has already not be like "Oh my god this gun doesn't even use the right type of ammo, LAWL that is hilarious" since they're going to be used to all assault rifle ammo being "assault rifle ammo" not 5.56mm or whatever, name a casual game that differentiates. Fact is, most of the player base casual, DayZ offers a variety like no other game they've played already one or two unrealistic features are hardly going to turn them off when they've been playing CoD or Battlefield with it's magical regeneration and whatnot. Making sense yet? I don't mean to put you down by saying you or anyone else is in the minority but well...you are. As soon as DayZ hit Steam it opened up to a much larger community than those who played the mod which was in a sense more of an "underground" title or niche as you said, it's not any more I'm pretty sure it's even advertised on Steam it's not something people have to hear about from friends it's common knowledge in the gamer community. -
Can anyone offer more locations for the MP5K and the Longhorn? I don't think you mean a hospital but I'm not sure what else they'd be called, there's one right across from a hospital in Berenzino. I call the blue buildings with medical supplies clinics. Perhaps the building in question could be dubbed a health centre or clinic? Sorry if this seems trivial just I think it's important we have a solid description for places else their locations in this thread mean nothing :P If any mod/admin sees this and deems it worthy could you perhaps pin this topic? Maybe move it to a better location if necessary, if people are helpful enough it could be a very useful topic. I see the wisdom to waiting and seeing if it holds out first though.

Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
UltimateGentleman replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
No I'm not, I could possibly be but I'm not unless the over 2 million people that have the game except me and the others in this thread who don't care speak out and say it does matter then I am not in the minority. I'm in the minority of the people that voted but given that it's not even hit 100 yet and there are like 200k members on this forum(depending on duplicates and spam accounts) who gives a shit. You played the mod, good for you. If it had more ammo types then WONDERFUL...the mod still exists you know, if that has the variety you want...go play that. More calibres is not the only way to make the game hard it just makes one aspect of an already easy game more complicated than the other aspects, what's the point. Make every ammo type rarer than it is currently, that's the way. I looked round a whole airfield earlier today and I seriously found like 40 boxes of ammo, it should be like half that, at least. And then it would be somewhat difficult. Ammo types won't at all make this game challenging get your head out your ass. That's not the only way to make the game difficult and it's not the way it should be made difficult, you act as though that's the ultimate answer. It doesn't matter if it's not about realism, why do you even want more ammo types if you don't care about realism? Making ammo scarce does EXACTLY THE SAME THING if you don't give a shit about realism then what does it matter? Also what the fuck is the difference between realism and authenticity? Seriously. All you people who talk about realism =/= authenticity please consult a dictionary they are basically the same thing. Did I say that? No. Maybe you should try reading, the 75 people who voted yes on this forum do not matter at all they will not change the game, if this was an issue you'd see it all over the internet, more than 75 people would have voted yes if this was considered a serious problem. Do you want to know why the devs said people generally don't care? . . . . . Because they don't  sorry if I blew your mind and sorry if you do care but you're not making the game and it doesn't revolve around what you want, if the majority of players don't give a damn then it's probably going to stay the way it is  As the saying goes "Don't fix what ain't broken" -
Why I kill other players (outsided of defense/necesity):
UltimateGentleman replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
Considering the devs don't really care about this forum and post on Reddit yes this forum has barely any influence. There is more than one play style but by far the most common one is KOS denying that is idiocy. You realize they're practically the same things? An authentic/realistic survival game needs to rely on it's players acting in a realistic manner to create an authentic survival apocalypse experience "Oh no there isn't an SKS in this town let me jump off the roof and respawn in another town" authentic. They're even added a railing to the police station roof where people do that because clearly they don't want people to do that. The aim is for your life to be something you care about in game as you would real life, explain what kind of idiot would care so little about his life in this situation that he would just sit in a bush and shoot people. It has nothing to do with GTA? Explain this, because people rampage around like it is GTA the only differences are there are no missions, shops or NPC's the way it's generally played it might as well be a third person action crime game... And what a fantastic story the players have created "basically everyone kills each other in a scumbag wasteland of wannabe hardcore killers" Yeah dude sandbox just means freedom to roam around most have actual objectives and such so not sure what you're getting at there the only thing close to an objective in DayZ would be "survive" So explain how camping outside good loot spawns and shooting anyone who goes in is survival. Explain how the KOS playstyle isn't an asshole playstyle are war lords and whatnot who kill and rape whoever they want not assholes because they have the freedom to do so? Just because DayZ is a game doesn't mean there's no asshole way to play it. Taking any kind of fun out of it for newcomers is asshole behavior, deny that if you want. If KOS's kill someone over and over as they spawn and they decide fuck it I'm not even going to buy this game the players are dicks then they've directly harmed the games future but yeah, that's a good thing! Anyway bored of this now I doubt you'll agree with any of that and I probably won't agree with you either so it's pointless to keep going, farewell. May we somehow reach a magical middleground of understanding. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
UltimateGentleman replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
What are you even talking about? Do you think 91 people is a lot compared to how many people have the game? It's nothing, not even 1% of the players. There have been over 2 million copies of the game sold so far and at the time I said that 91 had voted now 98 have. Please tell me how I'm in the minority, the fact that only 75 of that 98 voted for it also points to it being not that many else people would flock to this forum and that number would be hitting the thousands. I still find it hilarious how people treat this as an ultra realistic hardcore game. It is a game, there aren't realistic calibres in it, get over it. There are more than most games anyway, typically in like an FPS you just get "assault rifle ammo" or "shotgun ammo" that fits in every one of those types. You get more than that so you have to right to complain that it's "casual" compared to games like that because you want 100% realism when it's impossible with the current technology. There's a simulator where you can be a goat, and even one where you're a rock I'm very confident there'll be a gun simulator with all the calibres you can imagine, go play that or shoot real guns, whatever. I'm sure the people who don't really give a shit would appreciate it if the others didn't annoy the devs about it all the time, they have the power here. As I said before you get what you get, if they don't add any more calibres in then boo hoo the game is ruined for you. -
All the best stuff in the game is military gear or in military zones, high capacity vests, mountain backpacks, combat knives, AKM's etc. I think there should be better gear elsewhere these places are cluttered enough with everyone scrambling for the best stuff. Why not a filleting/skinning knife in some kind of hunting or fishing location? Why should a combat knife be the best for skinning animals when there are knives specifically made for that job? They could also spawn the better hunting snipers/rifles When the inventory/backpack system is a bit more complex military zones should have military backpacks with many slots for mags and mountain backpacks should be moved elsewhere as they're not really what the military use anyway, military should have the best combat gear, hunting areas the best hunting and survival gear. Instead of the best melee knife, the combat knife being the best for skinning animals and everything else knives are used for, it shouldn't be useless for skinning but not the best. Thoughts? I think it would be great, people would almost be split in to factions, you'd see someone with military gear and know that they're probably looking for a fight since they're geared up to have the most ammo or people with hunter gear and know that they might be a bit more welcoming towards some co-operative hunting/trading. Better way to tell the kind of person apart since currently everyone just goes for military gear since it's the best in all categories.
-
Exactly what I want. Right now for the best stuff you have to either be a PvP orientated player or risk getting killed at them because they all gather round the same areas. It feels cheap to server hop or go on low pop ones just to get a backpack that shouldn't only spawn in a military area to begin with. The game is way too geared towards military gear, PvP and fighting right now there should be two sides to the coin not one greater than the other. I'd love craftable coats from deer, wolves, bears etc it would look so badass. See a dude with a bear coat and perhaps a bear helmet and you know he probably killed a bear... It would be great for people who just want to survive not fight each other, you could be somewhat comfortable in the knowledge that a person you see in the forest is a fellow hunter not someone who will shoot you instantly. Of course trust nobody but at least lone wolf type players would have people to meet and exchange items with, with less fear of betrayal.

Thanks for the info so far guys, I'll polish up the OP as time goes on to look a bit more...official I guess but for now it gives you a general idea of where to look if you're clueless. By the way, I have no idea what to call a certain building, they have 3 floors on the top in a small room they typically have various guns. There's one across from the hospital in Berenzino, what do people call them here? They have a lot of shelving units and many open rooms.
-
So what about the pistols, where can people find them? Airfields are where I find them mostly. I think I've found one 1911 at a police station but someone might have left it there. Screw it I'll just edit the first post now it'll be helpful for any newcomers in future.

I would prefer they got up and turned in to zombies, then there's a reason for a different type of zombie. They could be slow but resistant to all but headshots(classic zombie) whereas the current infected are fast but fairly weak. As long as some spawned on their own I think it would be great, especially if the ones that used to be players looked the same. Like if we get armbands to distinguish team mates, imagine finding a zombie with the same yellow armband as your clan...no! JIMMY!!!! Anyway yeah that would be the best reason for more than one type of zombie without getting silly. It could just work like Walking Dead where everyone is infected and only become a zombie when they die. But the survivors we play as are immune to it until death so they don't become runners. Nothing wrong with that, would add nice variety.

Bicycle Suggestions/Discussion [Official]

What bikes were in the mod? Crap old things, BMX's or full on mountain bikes? I'd like some old rusty pieces of shit in the mix but hopefully we get the occasional good mountain bike. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
UltimateGentleman replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
On this forum out of 91 people. Hardly relevant to the amount of people who play the game. If everyone who did voted and it was 77% then it would matter but most people just play the game instead of demanding this so yeah, minority. -
EDIT doesn't matter I found charcoal tabs at this airfield although I'm still dying so go figure... I'd imagine someone will find me and kill me I now have two ammo boxes filled with ammo and two 1911 clips plus the gun itself. Mostly SKS ammo, some 45acp and magnum rounds. Also 3 things of morphine. If I'm still sick and somebody wants that for free I'm still willing to give it for free, tons of food and steak too just make sure to kill me. 7 charcoal tabs later and I'm still sick so it must be bad(it's at the second stage)

So what update is supposed to hit stable this one with flashbangs or the one before it that fixed stuff wrong with the last stable update? There's been two experimental updates since the last stable if that's correct so which is hitting stable, first or both? Hopefully both but if the latest was just today/yesterday surely it's not tested enough. -
hunger, thirsty, healty and a new for PSYCHE = moral
UltimateGentleman replied to jgbtl292's topic in Suggestions
I'm mentally ill anyway negative emotions don't do much to me beyond depression when a family member dies I basically forget them, same with anyone I couldn't care less about someone I don't know dying there are billions of people anyway. So no not everyone does care. Anyway that's off the point, have the devs ever mentioned anything like psyche being added to the game? I hope they've at least considered it. It'd be difficult not to go mad if you were constantly being attacked by zombies, shot at by strangers or attacked by wild animals your avatar would need to have the most extreme mental fortitude ever not to be going a bit crazy after days in Chernaus... Shaolin monk level mental fortitude, maybe that's the story you're an enlightened monk sent to fight the undead in the underworld  -
Experimental Branch: 0.46 Discussion
UltimateGentleman replied to SmashT's topic in PC Experimental Updates
Anyone got a good map that gets updated quickly when new areas are added? I have an offline map app and it's awesome but it doesn't seem to get updated and you can't put markers on it... Can anyone confirm weapon damage or is it just straight up being ruined by getting shot? As long as the weapon kit somehow fixes ruined guns to damaged or worn status that's awesome, hopefully they've added some jamming for non pristine weapons. -
Bicycle Suggestions/Discussion [Official]
UltimateGentleman replied to ianaconda's topic in Suggestions
Bikes in the mod though, does that mean bicycles or motorbikes? It's hard to tell what people mean sometimes. Both should be in it. It would be great if you could have a fold-able one on your back. Hopefully we will be able to use one handed weapons on them that would be so much fun. Or imagine you and a friend could cut one bike in half and attach it to the other so one can cycle and one can sit on the back and shoot zombies/people. That would be hilarious. -
The one near Berenzino? What good loot is in it because I went there after spawning in an almost empty high loot server and all I found were hats and stuff, best things were a machete and binoculars. And I was lost in it for like 20 minutes so I'm fairly sure I checked everywhere..

Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
UltimateGentleman replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
If it's that simple maybe they should hire you then. And get neverending complaints until they did polish it, ammo is a complete nonissue the people that would have to work on the bullets should be fixing other stuff, sound guys should be fixing the weird bug where you hear random zombies/cans opening/etc. Other design and animation orientated members should be fixing the animations, adding more, designing buildings and other item. The people that care are in the vast minority in the grand scheme of the game it barely matters, maybe they will add a couple of more, probably but not one for each and every gun that happens to be slightly different in caliber. I would rather just have some cool guns in the game than have to care about the ammo for them that much, I want a distinctive cool looking and cool sounding gun as long as it works nothing else matters much. If it was a choice between gun and ammo variety taking priority, hands down, guns win. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
UltimateGentleman replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
And you...have a great understanding of all that making the rounds entails? They have to do that, balance out all the ammo drops in a way people won't whine about, configure how much damage they do, design mags for them and codes that say what ammo goes in where, how loud they are, the sound itself, how much they make people bleed, the bullet drops and what distance. Or would you rather they just copied and pasted ammo stats over and just changed the title? What would be the point... Well, they need to have some crappy weapons in the game those are hardly serious weapons they're there to be the best of a bad situation we can't all have high powered rifles or machine guns can we. Same with the bow, it sucks but if you have no guns or never find any ammo but founds some composite arrows, it's your only option. -
Wouldn't it be cool if any old ships in the map had a working fog horn? Or airfields could have air raid sirens or there could be buildings with them in certain areas. Basically so we could lure people to locations and have battles, essentially it could be inviting them or saying you are there, anyone goes near they die. Someone with only the Amphibia might think twice about entering that airfield if someone puts the air raid siren on. Or someone with a Mosin might accept the challenge. (they should have like 10 second timers or something though instead of being on constantly that would suck) It would add an interesting layer of tactics to the game, maybe you just found a shotgun and two shells and you're starving at the crashed tanker, fog horn and wait for your geared prey to come with what you need. Or once you know someone is there you could ask nicely(I doubt it would happen much...)
