hidden Fake death animation?
UltimateGentleman replied to leguizamo2040@gmail.com's topic in General Discussion
I think it'd be pretty cool, how many people are really going to waste extra bullets? Only people geared up to the max would really. But it would only be good if you could do some kind of leg sweep and knock them down, with the time it takes you to get up after they check your pulse...you dead son. Movement is too slow in this game for it to work. In real life people would be fast enough to tackle at least not wait for an animations. While it would be viable in some situations mostly I think it wouldn't be. I'd like it to be there but would only use it for lols such as as a fresh spawn lay in the middle of the road(after clearing zombies) so I'm definitely found and have a note next to me or on me saying "THEN WHO WAS PHONE?" or something, then when they go to loot something I get up and leave so they're like wtf where did he go!? Assuming they didn't check my pulse or try to hide my body that is. -
Well then why don't they add in genitals and let us rape each other, for the sake of realism? Lot of that would be going on in this situation. As well as the option to scalp people and shove zucchini's so far up people's butts they come out their mouth. It's a game, there's a limit to what should be allowed regardless of the premise of freedom. No doubt you've heard of the issues with Manhunt level violence in games as well as racism in any game, i.e BioShock Infinite. If crap like the above was allowed DayZ would get taken down. The only high point of it would be the sheer satisfaction of finding and killing someone who turned the system on and sat looping shitty music then just yelling "DAAAAAMMMMMMMMN SONNNNNNNNN!!!!!" down the mic and switching it off. However, what would be cool I think is if he could find ham radios or something, perhaps like 6(as many as there are walkie channels) then people could have a radio system, perhaps even roleplay as a wastlenad radio service similar to Fallout that would be kinda cool and at least then if you don't have a walkie/radio you don't have to give a damn.

Machete's on baseball bats... People to lamp posts, zombie dinner. Everything Mythbusters has used it for.

So we should allow such horrible things? Chat is in a limited area. It'd mostly be people being racist and whatever else because they can get away with it and hardcore 12 year olds being bamf. C'mon, you know it would 99.99999999999999999% be abused not used for anything genuine except that 0.00000000000000001% of "Come to the airfield and lets fight" What positive uses would it really have anyway? "Hey come to Grishno and lets trade!" Speaker: "Hey I've got an engraved 1911, willing to trade for a AKM mag?" Only other non a-hole: "Sure!" *thundering of marching army* 38 a-hole's: "KILL 'EM ALL TO DEATH!!!"

What powers do admins have?
UltimateGentleman replied to kieran0saurusrex's topic in General Discussion
I reckon they should change it so that if an admin is actually playing they can't use any of their mystical powers. Course they can still watch over their buddies but at least that cuts some of the bullshit out. -
I suggested air raid sirens and foghorns, I think they would be better. As has been said already truly vile people play this game, I don't want to hear their voices spouting racism or sexually explicit things, many times in videos I've seen people kill female characters and talk about raping them or them being whores and it's just not cool, it may only be a game and may not be a real woman, or even a woman playing the game for that matter but it's still disgusting. So just air raid sirens etc would be better in my opinion, then the message is anonymous and unclear, do people want a fight, to talk or what? Go and find out or take it as a warning.
-
That would be awesome. Or stab them through the neck with a Mosin then blow their head off. Maybe they could add that as like a take down move if you sneak up on them? (shooting being optional) Things like that would be cool since it's gonna be awkward to aim at specific body parts when zombies are running around. I think for bayonets to work they also need to add the function to push zombies back for a nice stab to the gut. I hope it's not just a horizontal slice they're going for same as how you dig up worms currently but also a forward stab is going to be awkward to aim. Perhaps they could assign the H or \ keys to switch from firing to melee mode and vice versa? They're nice and close to the AWSD keys and so far as I know, unused. Left click swing/bash, right click stab. Bashing potentially damaging the weapon.

No problem, forgot to mention that it's on Apple, not sure about Android. There's probably similar apps on Android if not though.

You should check out the iZurvive app. You can make a group on it that your buddies can join, find a town, find the name on the map then you can mark down your position. If your buddies do the same then you'll see where you all are and try meet in the middle. You have to make/join a group to place markers but it seems like a good app anyway and it gets updated decently quick when stuff changes, even shows things like gun drops and helicopter crash sites. Not used it to meet up with people myself but it's helped me navigate when I'm somewhere unfamiliar, especially awesome since my computer can't run a web browser and DayZ without dying. Just note that it doesn't track your location you need to update it. So if you have to log out place your marker and your friends can go logout there when they have to go and you'll all be together.

I think all weapons should have a small chance of spawning with a mag in them, like a 5-10% chance(perhaps varies between weapons) With varying ammo too instead of every clip being full. It would be a nice touch for realism, finding a mag with 3 rounds in it. Obviously someone died fighting off zombies in the initial invasion. It would also be cool if we could find guns with mags with 1 bullet fired, right next to the dead body of someone who committed suicide. There's so many little things like that they could do which would give a great feel to the game, you can walk about for hours and not even realize it's a landscape where everything pretty much died one day. It's more of a wake up and everyone is gone kind of world than a zombie infested one. So I hope they put some attention to these kinds of things.

Yeah I thought of this too the first time I picked one up I thought nice one now I can see far away...what the hell? How do you look through it!? What would also be cool is if you could split binoculars in half, then you could give a buddy a monocular. That would be great too just for multitasking rather than aiming. You could turn any non scoped weapon in to the perfect scouting gun, without having to look through the scope instead of the iron sights. Even if it's not super practical I'm sure people in real life would at least try that. Anyway yeah I've never understood why you can't, especially a PU scope with it's fairly weak magnification. Hopefully it's a planned feature. I would rather it since rather than binoculars it gives an extra two slots with a penalty to range.

I made a suggestion about that, we should get like plastic/tarp sheets or bags to wrap stuff in. So say we want to take a swim to an island, take all gear off, put it in a plastic bag and swim over. Then of course given the temperature in the country make a campfire as quick as possible. I think they definitely should make something like that, for exploration value we shouldn't need a boat to not have gear soaked and if say a clan takes over an island along with all the boats swimming over should be viable, without getting all our bandages etc wet. Hopefully they do make that or find some other solution it would be awesome sneaking on to clans islands and trying to silently take them out. By the way, does the damp/wet/soaked status disappear on it's own now? I'm sure I've been damp a few times and it's went away, without going near a camp fire. If so thank god we don't stay soaked forever...

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
UltimateGentleman replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
With the navmesh totally working, no more running through walls....what about doors? Can we shut doors on them, do they open them or do they just run through them? Even if they do hopefully it definitely will be up soon, they should up the amount of zombies too. I had 4 chasing me in one town it was intense. And they kept hitting each other as they were following in a train so one got knocked out, it was hilarious. -
Spawned in at NWAF and instantly spotted a group of guys, figured fuck it I've not had much in the way of shooting training. Pretty sure I missed one of the guys at like 100m with the 9mm pistol(the one thats not the P1) so I took out my Longhorn, guy maybe 70m away aimed dead on BANG. Total miss. So far as I know. And then the hunt was on I heard an SKS, Mosin and I think an AKM shooting at me they chased me about a mile then I stop after they seemed to have lost me, fired a shot with the Longhorn and ran about with a flare on, they catch up. One guy trying to flank round a wall by the factory area we were at, Mosin in hand. We meet up, he shoots me in the leg or something I shot him in the chest with the Longhorn. No more than 3m away and he definitely got hit, even yelled in pain. Then he killed me because of course walking and taking out a pistol is not an option so my guy stood there a target(in the heat of the moment I never went round the wall, probably guys there anyway) so he shot me unconscious, seconds later I'm dead. Fun times but wtf, I understand the Longhorn shouldn't be super accurate but a definite hit from 3m away? i heard it was 1 hit kill anywhere but arms or legs. If its not one hit kill or debilitating in one shot what's the point in it? Beyond how cool it sounds.

How good is the Lomghorn supposed to be?
UltimateGentleman replied to UltimateGentleman's topic in General Discussion
I was just testing out guns I knew it was ridiculous but the two Longhorn shots I aimed should have hit, both players were stationary too especially the second guy. But with only one shot I still don't see the point in it. -
How long do you wait if pinned down?
UltimateGentleman replied to kieran0saurusrex's topic in General Discussion
I don't wait, don't give them time to adjust their aim for a perfect shot, nobody can handle the current running speed and especially not at close range. Taking advantage of how broken some things are is the best way to survive. Never failed me yet I've only been killed by other players when I've walked in to the wrong building at the wrong time or was innocently running somewhere and got shot randomly. -
Yeah so long as we don't get an arrow pointing to the bush they're in there's nothing wrong with it as a system. "Ah! I've been shot in the back!" can still mean a huge area behind you it's not like "Ah someone at coordinates X,Y,Z shot me!" Hunting someone for fun I'd much rather my game have a chance to fight back, just shooting and killing people is extremely boring and easy, not to mention cowardly I want the chance to be defeated by someone as good or better than me. Not just shoot them in the back and they die instantly.
-
Actually this would be great, we don't need the thing in COD that basically says he's RIGHT OVER THERE SHOOT HIM but a general direction would be nice, anyone who survived a shot would obviously know they got shot in the back but in game it's just ow my arm is sore. Depends on the situation though they might be a shit shot with a Mosin or just a spray and prayer with an M4/AKM or any gun really, maybe even a Longhorn. This would be good, it would give people who IRL would probably survive some chance to fight back instead of having to look for movement everywhere we know to look behind us and possibly see the inaccurate douche desperately reloading. But like if someone is a good shot, you're probably still going to die so it's not like it gives you an advantage it just helps you fight off otherwise skill-less fools who currently get to abuse that you don't know where shots are coming from and hope their 30 bullets hit.
-
Yeah and I have no idea what parts are what. Why are there even pieces of a map? It's clearly not ripped or anything what area has separate maps for different places? I think they should just leave it as one whole map. For real? How many parts does it take? Never heard of that. Still pretty useless though, since you have to find them all there should be a better in game solution I use the iZurvive app on my iPod. But I don't have an iPod in the game .. If there was a full map that wasn't so awkward to get I'd not use my iPod for it since it feels like cheating but if it's a toss up between being lost for hours and finding civilization in minutes, latter always wins, thus, iPod.
-
Yeah I think it's alright as it is, typically if you're not shot in the arms or legs you die pretty quick anyway or at least fall to the ground.
-
Why hasn't this idea seen more attention? They could explain it by Chernaus being some kind of nature reserve so that there'd be hunters who tranq animals and move them away from dangerous areas and stuff but now without restrictions they've bred like wildfire. And of course the ammo and suitable guns have been left behind. A tranq pistol and a rifle or tranq rifle ammo would be awesome, so long as not every rifle or pistol can shoot the ammo it would be cool. I think it would be way more satisfying to knock people out and take all their stuff than straight up kill them, it would be funny having it happen to you too. However I think it should be made that zombies tend to avoid you if you're down sleeping, they should go for moving and bleeding players/animals almost exclusively. (I suggested something like this before) With that maybe you could cut sleeping people to use them for attracting zombies. I think rifle tranq rounds should be fairly instant(and rare) but pistol ones should take a minute or so and the rifle should be like the Longhorn, one shot then you have to reload so if you miss at close range you're at a disadvantage. A big one. Wouldn't it be cool if it had some kind of affect on zombies too? Like instead of putting them to sleep, maybe it could make them go crazy, even attack other zombies. When stealth is implemented, that could be a very effective distraction assuming the other zombies start attacking/chasing the crazed one.

Long-term suggestions, are they possible?
UltimateGentleman replied to Qayin (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I think a building should be classified as a "base" whenever someone has put some kind of barricade down, whoever has started making it a base first owns it. Any friends that join you are just guests. It's not perfect but it still works out, ideally you should have your own base and only visit friends(who can be sure they're trustworthy after all) And with that if you barricade building A for the night since they're changing the day night cycle so you might play through it, when you barricade building B either it deletes A's barricades, stops them being yours or makes them drop to the floor. That way people can't claim like 40 houses or anything. As for the disappearing base exploit, if you're in your base or near it maybe you should have to go through an animation like sleep before you log out? So you can't sit with a sniper/binocs watching over your base and think oh shit bandits better log out it will just say "My base is nearby I should rest there" Something like that. As well as that perhaps there could be some sort of delay between you leaving a server and your base following you, if it's going to add to the spawn timer then that's going to reduce server hopping a bit. I guess dynamic loot spawns could work but then you could just get clans claiming all airfield buildings and killing people who come trying to find the loot, that's a perfect killing farm right there. Also if you're killed within a certain radius of your base I think there should be a huge respawn timer, like 300 seconds just so as a reward people get to loot your base instead of you spawning in another server and keeping all but what you had on your person. Although what I said about the spawn time increase could factor in to that anyway. -
Experimental Branch: 0.47 Discussion
UltimateGentleman replied to SmashT's topic in PC Experimental Updates
I've not tried this experimental patch yet but I find it always works for me on .46 even if I'm running and press spacebar my guy will raise his weapon when I stop. Same with optics. -
Long-term suggestions, are they possible?
UltimateGentleman replied to Qayin (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Hmm, not sure I like that really. I mean I'm all for reducing server hopping but staying on one server would be annoying, what if nobody is playing or if they're not the kind of people you want to play with? Or what if the admins change the time so that it's always going to be night when you get a chance to play. The way I suggested it I think it could solve more problems, other than when it glitches out and two peoples bases are slammed together or totally deleted but if it was working fine I think it'd be the best way. People would just need to be smart about where and what they make a base, nothing high profile like barracks or piano houses. Actually with that things like barracks with good loot drops should be off limits so you can't spawn everywhere and get loot or remove it. -
Yep, I like a bit of challenge and the occasional PVP but it's just so annoying how it's all people seem to play for, I want to explore and see what the devs have done with the land shouldn't have to be wary of every single hill or building as someone with a gun, for whatever reason might be there ready to shoot me. It's just so dull, it can hardly be called "winning" if there was no element of challenge in it for the murderer. Yeah it's stupid to judge the game as it is, but the people who play it? That's another story. Upon full release if everyone plays as they do now nobody is going to give a damn about this game after a few months especially not with things like GTA V hitting PC. People play this wanting interesting experiences, taking hostages, being taken hostage, gunfights, trading, betrayal etc etc. But all they get is gunfights and the occasional betrayal(usually by a relatively fresh spawn with no gun) For all that's in the game it's the players who need to set the experience apart from other titles, all this work and the focus is playing CoD in Berenzino or airfields. I doubt most people have explored more than like 20% of the map beyond the airfields and big towns.
