What is the point of this game?

Yep, I like a bit of challenge and the occasional PVP but it's just so annoying how it's all people seem to play for, I want to explore and see what the devs have done with the land shouldn't have to be wary of every single hill or building as someone with a gun, for whatever reason might be there ready to shoot me. It's just so dull, it can hardly be called "winning" if there was no element of challenge in it for the murderer. Yeah it's stupid to judge the game as it is, but the people who play it? That's another story. Upon full release if everyone plays as they do now nobody is going to give a damn about this game after a few months especially not with things like GTA V hitting PC. People play this wanting interesting experiences, taking hostages, being taken hostage, gunfights, trading, betrayal etc etc. But all they get is gunfights and the occasional betrayal(usually by a relatively fresh spawn with no gun) For all that's in the game it's the players who need to set the experience apart from other titles, all this work and the focus is playing CoD in Berenzino or airfields. I doubt most people have explored more than like 20% of the map beyond the airfields and big towns.

let people choose what item they want when they spawn

The only difference between DayZ and a CoD deathmatch is that in DayZ you need at least 20 minutes to gear up. I went for maybe. I don't believe we should get a weapon but maybe something like a badly damaged can opener or a lighter, anything random that one might have in their pockets at any given moment. In fact a lighter instead of a flash-light would be pretty cool, maybe ideally we could find some sticks on the ground and rip out t-shirts in to rags to make a torch, that would be awesome the flash-light is pretty terrible

Anyone Find the Engraved 1911 HandGuns?

I put my time as 0-50 hours but by that I mean since they were added to the game I've played about that much. I find them and regular 1911's very frequently at NWAF engraved not as much but at least 20% of all 1911's I find are them. Plenty mags too. In fact I was annoyed because it took me forever to find something that wasn't an 1911 or FNX45 as I was looking for the...the er...other one, begins with a C shoots 9mm ammo. Anyway they don't seem all that rare, badass though. They remind me of the ones in Supernatural are their design based of those? Never really looked it up.

What is the point of this game?

Well, I said if half. That would be way better than almost every time you meet people being a fight, I don't see how you can claim you don't know what will happen next. Either you die, or they do. This sums up almost every encounter with someone who has a gun. If it was 50/50 then it's they shoot/you shoot/no one shoots/friendship/trading/noob hunting Opens up a whole host of new options, we shouldn't have to meet people online or already have friends playing to gain some buddies. Imagine you could meet a guy and be like got a fishing hook? I'll trade you a box of Mosin rounds for it...AND IT HAPPENS, no back stabbing or insta-shooting. Of course it would be dull if everyone held hands and made daisy chains together but as it is now any kind of friendly play is off the table and that's what makes it a dull experience for the most part, everyone moans about the game but it will be fixed. The players have to fix themselves.

What is the point of this game?

See this is the problem, because a lot of people are just KOS assholes everyone who has played the game for more than an hour, whenever they see someone they automatically assume "We'll he's going to try kill me anyway, might as well shoot first" Can you imagine if like half the players instead said "Hey, there's a guy let's go try talk to him!" and the other guy being like "Oh, a dude! Hey man!" Instead of just pew pew pew! All the PVP lovers talk about it like each engagement they have is totally different when they're not really, see someone, shoot them. They see you, they shoot you. Sometimes stalking is involved. What would really be different is if there wasn't a 1% chance of them being friendly, if it was 50/50 then the game would be so varied and awesome. Anyway though there's not much point to the game right now it's just GTA deathmatch, don't expect that to change until things get difficult.

    Berry Picking Simulator 2014

The originality of -insert game feature here- Simulator -insert current year here- is kind of dead now.

Grenade as a life preservation device - must read

I don't think this would ever really work out, the current grenade explosion is placeholder no way will it always be as devastating so people could just run away. I would love it if we could rig it up to go off when we died though so *BANG* "Lol let's see what gear he has...what's the ticking?" BOOM YOU ARE DEAD. Perhaps that could encourage people to be bandits instead of KOS'ers but meh, I doubt most kill for gear really it's just camping on rooftops or wherever for fun. Kill AND an explosion? Well, that's just gonna be awesome isn't it. Maybe if we could alter the fuse to make it more like instant or one second but what random idiot knows how to do that?

    Long-term suggestions, are they possible?

I still don't get why people are so against any kind of profession system but complain when anything isn't realistic enough in the game, like, lol. Everyone having different skills IS realistic, so long as we can eventually learn all the skills there's nothing wrong with it. Anyway I like the sound of it but I don't think we really need anything that advanced, I mean what's enjoyable about staying in the same place all the time? And what if you get killed by bandits and they take over? They could just sit in the bushes nearby and watch you build a base for them. It's better to just take an existing building like a small hut hidden away somewhere and make it your own. I'm not sure how they could keep it persistent though, maybe if you go on another server you spawn in with your house upgrades, since every house in the game is going to be in the same place on every server. So if nobody happens to have made a base there, your base spawns in. If someone has made a base where yours is, you can't join the server. I doubt conflicts like that would happen so often that it wouldn't work out, with 64 bit servers I doubt spawning a few bits of wood and a safe would be too much hassle

    View backpack contents

I think it'd be a great idea so long as people couldn't reload mags from their backpack instantly. It works out well since the stuff in your other pockets is the most likely to get damaged from bullets, falling, melee hits. It's almost like it's set up to be that way already they've just yet to implement it. So long as clothing damage is nerfed to the point where 1 bullet = 1 random item damaged instead of everything in whatever piece of clothing it hits, I'm game for that. I'm so sorry if it hurts your KOS banditry 'cause you can't carry 10 taped M4 mags around, truly sorry. If you needed more than one extra clip anyway you'd have to be a pretty bad shot or fighting an army, how often does that happen?
  10. How many times have you been cut open by zombies or gunned down by players because you were running away, pressed 2 and your character stops to take out their weapon? While you can't move at all and just have to stand getting slapped by zombies until the animation is done. Are we ever going to be able to walk around freely? Current patch while I'm running if I press a button on the hotbar quite often I jump and then upon landing my character just stops to take out the thing... I appreciate something from the bottom of your backpack shouldn't come out instantly but weapons from chest holsters and weapon inventory slots should allow for free movement while taking them out.
  11. UltimateGentleman

Are we ever going to be able to start moving while taking out weapons?

Or after you jump or do certain things, it's very annoying. What I mean is instead of stopping we should still be able to move around, maybe not start running but at least step to the side to dodge zombies. What if you're already standing still and a zombie spawns out of nowhere behind you? Or if you just didn't hear them coming.

    Modifications for the longhorn

But one shot at a time? I think the Longhorn is only really going to be useful if it can blow away both zombies and people in one shot at non ridiculous ranges, if you miss, which is very very possible with all the lag etc you're pretty fucked unless they don't have weapons. Although if they have fists you're still pretty screwed while you're taking your rifle out.
  13. UltimateGentleman

    Modifications for the longhorn

I don't really see the point in adding that many more attachments for a weapon, where would they even spawn? And what's the point in downgrading it to .22? The only one that seems decent is shotgun shells. I'd like to be able to put a red dot sight on it but that's it really it's power currently is all it has.
  14. UltimateGentleman

    LRS/Hunting scope for the blaze?

I would just rather a red dot sight on it, as said in the thread it's not for long range shooting. In first person the gun(most guns) are angled weird so their usually in the way of what you're aiming at. When I use a gun I can see my target so not sure what's going on there, it's like they're held too close to your face or something. I guess they'll never match real eyesight.
  15. UltimateGentleman

    Hawks as companion animals

Yeah, this. It's bad enough that we can work all the guns and stuff perfectly with no explanation falconing would be a bit too much. I'd love a parrot though, one that does absolutely nothing but sometimes give my position away, it would be hilarious. I think when they say companion animalS they probably just mean various dogs, any idiot could befriend them. What other animals would even realistically be plausible?
  16. UltimateGentleman

Sprained Ankle (instead of instant broken leg)

I think you should be able to at least hop with a broken leg though. Have you ever played with a broken leg? It's horrendous, especially if it happens somewhere random where you can't even kill yourself to save hours of rolling and then if any zombie spots you when you're actually trying to survive you're screwed. But yeah right now I think they should just remove broken legs and add in sprained ankle then bring back broken legs when it's going to work properly and not just suddenly happen for no reason.

How are we unofficially going to call this type zed

I call them Monkey Bastards. They don't really "crawl" or "hop" so I don't think those are appropriate names, they run like monkeys/chimps and they're bastards. Monkey Bastards.
  18. UltimateGentleman

Why does hardly anyone report abusive servers?

For me I usually forget what server I was even on and the history is pretty broken never seems to show the order of servers I've actually went in, if they fixed that much and added a report button it'd be fine. Yesterday I went on some server and the moderator was SwagLord or something, I was only in it about 20 minutes before I crashed to the desktop but the town I was at(just below NWAF) was like filled with guns...seems like they were abusing loot for sure at least. EDIT also like every house had been in it's not like I visited an untouched town but I found an MP5-K in those orange buildings with the blue interior, room with a knocked over fridge. Pretty sure they don't normally spawn there. And I also found like 12 SKS's and Mosin's which is just silly. At the start a server message from SwagLord was saying to drop all your gear or something too(I didn't ant nothing happened though, unless that's why it crashed...)

    How is hardcore mode different?

I've never really dabbled in it, what are the differences besides being restricted to first person. Less food, ammo, health? Everything?
  20. UltimateGentleman

    How is hardcore mode different?

Only because the game is broken right now, once you can hear zombies or people running up next to you it won't be hard at all in regards to PVE, currently it makes PVE harder but it will only always make gathering info on your surroundings difficult.
  21. UltimateGentleman

    Riot shields and improv shields

A metal one could help against bullets, somewhat I think they should have a chance to deflect bullets depending on the angle it hits and maybe slightly reduce damage. You're still going to die though, in most cases. If anything it would be best on your back so anyone shooting you there has a harder time killing you. It would be great against zombies though, bash them away and take no damage. It could be the ultimate melee weapon for fighting any number(unless your talking thousands) of zombies. And then it has it's drawbacks of leaving you unable to chop wood, mine stone, dig up worms, etc etc. It could be a well balanced good addition so long as it wasn't an impervious bullet shield. Imagine seeing clans of people with them in a tight formation marching like Romans being immune to all bullets...and then someone throws a grenade in the middle of them. Make it happen devs... If they're not even that good that's a bit excessive...
  22. UltimateGentleman

    How is hardcore mode different?

Lol. It's not, just for people saying first person is better because it makes the game harder, it isn't really. Zombies can come at you from the side in first person and so can people but you can regularly spin round to notice them. With third person in regular any number of people can be behind walls watching you, plotting your demise. You're only safe when you're watching an area, second you step out to get loot or whatever third person is no advantage to you.
  23. UltimateGentleman

    How is hardcore mode different?

Because those are fast paced action games where it doesn't matter and the sound works properly you don't really need to be as aware of your surroundings as in DayZ and soldiers completely stand out in those games there is no working camo in them and not many bushes you can effectively make yourself invisible in like in DayZ, what kind of argument is that? Completely different games. I do but that in that time it takes to press ALT twice in real life I can already have looked round and plus it restricts your movement. Don't act like it's a perfect substitute for the freedom of movement real people have. Unless running it's better to just turn round anyway since you can move your mouse a couple of inches to the side and have done a complete 180 in an instant 'cause realism. Course that's not something they can easily make realistic but that doesn't change the fact that it's just not. You first person only people can act like you're better or smarter than people who use third person all you want but that's just an opinion, we can just as easily say you're dumb for not using the games features to your advantage. If anything third person makes the game even more dangerous because yes you can stand behind a wall and survey an area safely, but the second you step out from that wall 30 people on the other side could just be doing the same thing and see you, or anyone with a better gun and skill. I can't wait to see people disagreeing with that.
  24. UltimateGentleman

    How is hardcore mode different?

Oh shut up it's no more difficult than first person, first person is just annoying because the game isn't set up properly stop trying to act like first person makes you a better player. The FOV does change a lot it removes the rectangular view and gives you a proper view of above, below, left and right. And you can see things standing right next to you which in first person you can't anyone could walk right up next to you and you'd have no clue until you turned round, it's ridiculous. It might be "better" in the sense that it makes it harder but no way is it realistic or good I don't have a cardboard box round my head with a rectangle cut out for me to see through so I don't want that in my game thank you.

    Remove magical weapon slots

Kinda spoils the realism to have a gun and a melee weapon just stick to your back doesn't it? I think we shouldn't be able to do that in the full release, we should need a backpack first to be able to slot weapons between the straps. Before all the "URGH BUT I WANT MA WEPINS" negativity how many times have you been killed or shot at by a bambi that ran straight to the nearest gun zone, found one and ammo and went on a rampage? I see lots of people complaining about that anyway. Perhaps if you find some rope you could craft some kind of a sling for one weapon, so you can have an axe on your back and just hold a gun or vice versa. And maybe some kinds of clothing could hold weapons, lord knows what but I'm sure the devs could think of something. I think that hint of difficulty would be cool along with food being more scarce as development goes on we could see starving be an actual issue no more finding a Mosin and blowing away a geared guy to take his stuff, unless you happen to be skillful.
