    Ingame map

I find it easier to just explore the whole map and get to know as many areas as possible, in game maps take up too much space, any space is too much really I'd rather have some food, a can opener or ammo in that slot nevermind when you have other parts too. I think they should do away with their being pieces and just have it be the full map, maybe slightly rarer. Why would it be in pieces anyway? I know this is an apocalypse...but what situation makes so many maps get ripped? (cleanly ripped too) I think if anything people would take good care of maps unless maybe they rip them up because they don't understand them... Anyway if ever I need a map I just use the offline map on my iPod the only issue with it is that it's slow to update, which is actually good I'd rather not know exactly where helicopter crashes etc are.

Most game breaking bug... Please fix asap

If someone else was attacking you they're just going to wait for you so you'd need to wait or go on a different server, so it would be combat logging though necessary it still leaves you wide open if you go back to the same server.

    The "ruined" status must go.

It would be cool if you could set up an event by knocking someone out and carrying them past a hoarde in to a city and leave them with handcuffs on so they have to escape :D Anyway like I said I think anonymous events could work, no zombie hoarde spawning counter or event notification just you'll be walking and suddenly something will happen. Dynamic helicopter crashes would be AWESOME for one thing, lot of loot to have but everyone in a few mile radius is going to have seen/heard it too and check it out...

Why use DayZ as an Ego-Shooter?

I don't think zombie hoardes are really going to fix it. No matter what...you can just leave. Unless they spawn in a circle around you that's no reason to get friendly, you never really have to take zombies on with the combat system the way that it is it's better to not anyway. "play how you want" is all well and good but why can't people "play how they would survive"? Nobody normal in a zombie apocalypse would just shoot everyone they see, it might turn in to a fight, sure, people would get greedy but there'd be plenty people looking to team up who probably haven't seen people in weeks. What's wrong with a little roleplay instead of watering it down in to a deathmatch? "play how you want" makes it sound like there's a diverse list of play styles when there isn't.

And face the humiliation of combat logging?

    The "ruined" status must go.

I think that would be cool but it would make it too MMO'ish I think it would need to be an anonymous event to work. Like perhaps it could be set up that at night zombies come out in force and get more active. So fog could work the same way, when fog starts settling round a town zombies are going to be hunting inside it in hoardly fashion. With limited visibility and many zombies to work around, people would need to work together. Anyway I love how people actually voted saying it's fine as it is. Really? Have you ever jumped off a 3ft wall and found your phone, legs, jeans, money, pants, penis and shoes were completely broken? It makes no sense. Of course it will not always be that way but by no means is it fine the way it is... Items getting ruined should just have a random chance. 20 things in a backpack, one zombie hit = 1 possibly 2 items getting ruined, each item could have it's individual chance of getting ruined too. So some things like paper could have a 50/50 chance of getting ripped whereas a revolver, 10% perhaps although even that is madly unbelievably for a zombie to be destroying with a swing of its arm but for balancing. Of course you could load your inventory with paper or other weak items to effectively protect your other gear but there's still a chance and if you're inventory is 90% paper...you're not going to be well equipped.

So...the one where you're unable to attack in any way, making you utterly helpless until you relog or die is less game breaking? Ooook then...

That would be great, people will moan that it makes it "Too easy" but in a gunfight who wouldn't have their ammo easily accessible? It would be in a pocket for you to take out in seconds you wouldn't have to go through your whole backpack after running in a building and hope you find a mag. Unless you were extremely lucky to not have died yet but it wouldn't take long if that was how you operated... I guess since you don't need triangle, square, circle etc they could just be used for functions in the inventory menu, such as drop and combine and either it shows known "recipe's" or you just select another item that goes with it. Definitely wouldn't need the scroll menu.

Doubt it not many games are. I think the controller mapping will be fine, looking around could be achieved with either right analog click to toggle it or by holding R1 or something then moving the analog in whatever direction, it's in and works in quite a few games. There aren't really that many commands to worry about. It's the inventory I worry about, will it be like a mouse cursor or a highlighted box? I think it should be the latter a cursor would be too slow and often you need speed when switching out gear, I hope they make it nice and responsive.

    Photography

I would only want one if it had a very good zoom. So if you found it before binocs or a gun with a scope you could survey areas when you just started out, since you already have a battery.
  11. UltimateGentleman

So M1 Garand has been confirmend...

I would go with that but since you say enthusiast... What about there being a random chance for a dead body to spawn with it? Like one per map in no set location, in a bed, up against a tree, in a freaking river etc etc. The game needs more gore anyway things like that would be awesome and it explains away the "Why the fuck is this extremely rare weapon in a café" issue. Everyone would want it but have a very minimal chance of finding it. I think that would be great, add in some more dead people who died in fighting but leave shit things like broken guns/knives or not very good ones to even it out. The only issue is that this would only be suitable for maybe 2 very rare guns else they become relatively common drops.
  12. UltimateGentleman

So M1 Garand has been confirmend...

...does it really matter? Correct me if I'm wrong but they've never said "only guns of Russian origin will be in this game" it's just a game it's not some chronicle of something that happened, if you were playing a serious WW2 game and a laser rifle cropped up then yes be mad about that but this game has no set rules or a story it's just in some Russian place, which isn't real and that's that. Now if they add killstreaks and air strikes then it's a problem. Maybe there was some gun club and they all ordered some WW2 era weapons, why not? There are people who re-enact historic battles from history with plastic swords and armour I don't think a gun club is so out of the question, or just a few gun nuts here and there. Just because it's Russia doesn't mean the people there couldn't like or buy American or otherwise guns. I'd like to see some guns of British or German origin now, I mean why not just America and Russia mostly would be lame if you're gonna go for variety over what "makes sense" give us some from everywhere. A Bren, De Lisle and/or Enfield would be cool.

I don't see what's so bad about that compared to playing the same game constantly like with WoW or games from the dark ages, is it not better to play a lot of games? No game is so good it warrants only playing it so there's nothing wrong with hopping on to other games when the one you were playing got stale which basically every MMO does since like 90% of the gameplay is grinding for exp etc. I certainly prefer to blast through games then take on the next exciting challenge(which usually fails to be a challenge) whilst every so often playing previous games be they either worthy or long lasting experience such as multiplayer based.

Because until the new consoles they've all been watered down versions of the PC ones since obviously last gen was grossly inferior to even the poor mans PC plus there weren't even that many good ones that tried to go on it. Most notably FF14 which seemed to do decently well or at least whenever I played there were thousands of people on at once on PS3 and most servers were completely full. Warframe and Destiny are doing great on the new gen consoles too and there's plenty hype about future MMO's. They're just not something that typically go well with consoles due to the lack of a keyboard but since every single X1 and PS4 owner should have a basic headset they no longer require one which is probably one reason why MMO's are doing alright now along with being fine mechanically rather than looking like crap or running like stale crap.

The heck are you even talking about? That isn't true at all, the only reason console gamers use mics less is because they play games that don't need them as much, you don't need one for CoD since it's not a team game at all, you don't need one for Battlefield since there's team based commands anyway and most other games are either single player anyway or aren't remotely team based. For a while yeah maybe people won't use it but once they realize standing and typing "Are you friendly?" gets them killed nearly 100% of the time they're going to dig out their mic from wherever it may be. Or those of us who've played it on PC already should know that it's necessary due to the mentality of almost everyone in the game.

Yeah and they have more than enough money to finish both the PC and console version so that's not going to be an issue. A year and a half though? I can't imagine H1Z1 is going to take that long... It's either going to be a good move or a bad one to release it after. Either they get "lel H1Z1 already did zombies Daisy sukz" or the zombie hype has died down and they bring it back and then some since DayZ combines zombies and deathmatch CoD mentality. I wonder about that though, since everyone should have a headset, albeit not a fantastic one, on PS4 perhaps the in-game community might not be so awful, a lot of people get killed simply because they can't talk back and confirm friendlyness etc(however much good that is) but more importantly can't co-operate or negotiate. You can't tell someone without a mic or if you don't have one to drop their stuff so it's better to just shoot them or so it seems. You never know maybe people might play the game a little friendlier and get the PC version too and play the same...argh I'm crazy aren't I :P Still though if H1Z1 can satisfy peoples need for a gritty zombie infested deathmatch DayZ might have problems so hopefully they don't release it too late I look forward to playing both hopefully the second doesn't turn the first out in to a ghost town.

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

This is a tiny community it can hardly speak for any kind of majority. You can't base your logic on 55 replies to that topic. And on the thing itself there are 5.4k fb likes so assuming they all done it that's over 6000 PC gamers who paid for stuff on steam(counting tweets etc too) Probably more than that but not seeing a counter. But anyway that's as concrete as a survey of 1000 people speaking for everyone, fact is millions of dollars are lost due to pirating each year. Just because a good amount of people buy legit doesn't mean pirating doesn't happen or affect the industry. Or that they don't download anything illegally ever. Someone that's not saying PC gamers are a higher class of intelligence? I need to sit down  (half joking) There are sheep on either side, else the industry would fail. Do you reckon there will be any exclusive content for each version or will there just be the PC version but ported? If they're really wanting money then I could see them adding some sort of...well not novelty, I guess niché items? Something like an old Winchester rifle or a themed set of gear. I would just like a larger variety of guns than it seems like there will be end game hopefully they don't go crazy with version exclusive content for either console in general or PS4/X1. Can see it happening though if both Microsoft and Sony have a grip of the game they're gonna want people to be more inclined to buy their version. Also I wonder if it will get a cool trailer?

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

Who would be that stupid? If that were true why do so many PC games go over to console? It's to get more money, ergo, there's a sizeable amount of money to be made from consoles. Not really because it becomes a PC then as soon as you tamper with it it's not an official console and that happens way less it's a lot more awkward to do than going to virtually any torrent site typing a name and hitting download. EA probably makes money off microtransactions and game sales mostly and also by having most of it's games on every system, even if loads of them are being pirated on PC the consoles ones sell fine. It is a big problem to sales exactly the same as how it is for movies, DLC and microtransactions are basically the same as overpriced theatre food. Granted game pirating puts less of a dent in to the gaming industry than movie pirating to the film industry but it's still a big problem. I don't mean it as a this or that kind of deal the decision to bring games to consoles will hold many factors but I'm sure a large factor is that by staying on PC the sales will get reduced a lot by piracy, except for MMO's and probably most online games since it's going to be difficult to have a pirated game authenticated(which is no doubt why MMO's do so well) There is definitely more money to be made in the console industry than PC with PC vs PS or Xbox on their on maybe PC comes out on top but not both together, and then there's even more money to be made with PS+ or XBL subscriptions. And then Nintendo...is Nintendo, they're going to need something special once the good X1 and PS4 games start coming out. Nintendo is actually a good example of how dated hardware can still compete with top of the range hardware, though, not lately  EDIT DayZ on PS4(now it's a relevant post) Jk. Still can't wait for this I hope we're not going to have to wait like 2 years. Why announce it properly now if it's going to be that long, I guess. And again to people that think it won't sell on consoles, everyone still loves zombies and it's not a hard game at all. Unless you're fighting invisible zombies.

The sales are probably needed so that people hack less. You can't pirate ON a console, it's all done on PC is what I said not that only PC games get pirated. It's not that SEN sucks it's that there are tons of hackers trying to hack it all the time. Microsoft has been hacked plenty too people like keeping quiet about that though. Not every PC gamer is a hacker or pirater but you can't deny that they're the main things hurting the gaming industry. I find that pretty pathetic "I have a $4000 PC hurr durr console peasants can't afford to join the master race durr!" *illegally downloads games daily*

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

Probably because all you guys pirate their games and they lose tons of money where you can't pirate on consoles really unless you mod it so it has a computer OS. Of course console games are pirated...but still on PC. Don't act like all PC gamers are great people, there's more money to be had in the console industry because we can't steal from it and there's a lot less hackers(the kind that hack games)

I doubt that's true, they probably use 100% of their allocated power not a full 6 cores they probably only use 2 cores and hit their max the engines won't be designed to use all of the power yet, if they did they'd look incredible...BF4 and Watch Dogs certainly don't. That or they just didn't bother optimizing it and got lazy with graphics, again the hardware is there it's up to devs to utilize it effectively.
  22. UltimateGentleman

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

Not that it really matters as games don't even use that many cores yet. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2010/07/05/how-many-cpu-cores-do-games-need/1 Even Crysis on Very High settings can be run on a dual core CPU. So 6 cores will be plenty for a long time, hopefully some developers will prove that soon but it seems like only games next year are going to push the graphics to great levels. This is off the point but y'know I find it funny how the PS4 is outselling the X1 3:1 but people come back with "The X1 has more games though" and yet the PS4 is still winning...imagine what happens when it's exclusives come out... Anyway the PS4 should easily be able to handle DayZ the only reason it takes such powerful hardware now is because it isn't optimized, once it hits beta it'll become obvious that you don't need a $1000+ PC to run it.

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

The thing about console development though, is that even though the hardware can be limited that just means the developers have to squeeze out all the performance they possibly can and as the generation goes on they get more and more out of it. Look at games like Resistance Fall Of Man which was one of the first games out on PS3, barely an improvement on the PS2 graphics. And then scoot over to fairly recent games like The Last Of Us. There isn't even slightly a contest between the two and yet they have the same hardware. If they can't make DayZ look good on PS4 they weren't trying that hard to. Perhaps DayZ could be one of the first games to actually push the new consoles to their limits instead of shitty Watch Dogs where they decided to dumb it down.

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

I feel like people coming to this thread should have to read that first :P It really is like people just go "The PS3 sucked that means the PS4 isn't any better" when it has like 32 times more RAM or something. A lot of it seems to be based off games not getting 1080p or 60FPS...which is entirely the developers fault because they don't know what they're doing or can't be bothered, happens with every generation.
  25. UltimateGentleman

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

Now undoubtedly people will come here saying the PS4 can't handle it because if it's not a computer it can't have good graphics which is lol. My computer is a piece of shit and it can run it on high settings easily Nvidia control just seems to think it can't. I think they should just make the inventor have a highlighted part you move around, touchpad could be a bit awkward or perhaps the motion controls could be useable, would take some getting used too though. Or maybe they could make an app that lets you manage you inventory on an iPad/iPod/Android, that would be great.
