Experimental Branch: 0.50 Discussion

Hold up upon reading that changelog, hydration and energy goes down EVEN faster now? What the crap, you're already in big trouble half an hour in to a life unless you got lucky with your spawn... -
Not like they have the worst specs there's plenty of worse PC's mine is shite and it was £600 last year or so, the consoles are good enough and they'll make their own titles look good enough.
-
Yeah but the limited hardware forces them to optimize games incredibly well if they don't get lazy. As always compare the first games on last gen to recent ones, consoles get better as they go along happens every time no reason why it wouldn't this time.

Where are the notes for this patch? I don't fancy wading through 27 pages to find them -_- If a mod/admin/someone with the power to do so sees this how about making a topic for this section to quote the notes in to? That would be very handy, if you miss these topics for more than a few days it's like looking through the history of the universe trying to find them :P -
Except that no game uses 8 cores anyway they have plenty hardware to use. How were last gen consoles using high end parts? Are you seriously saying they were as good as PC's back then? Because the PS4 has like 32x more RAM than the PS3, that's a massive improvement. The rest of the hardware is great too games consoles can push the hardware to the limit to get things looking good. Ground Zeroes on PS3 and 360 still looks amazing, due to the FOX engine. So again it's up to the developers if they cut corners and can't be bothered designing new engines, games gonna look shit but if they put the work in they can as near as makes no difference match PC's. They may have less power than some PC's but not all of a PC's power is dedicated to gaming.

Do you want pooping in this game?
UltimateGentleman replied to Jumbaliah's topic in General Discussion
That doesn't explain away why you're character hasn't pooped in 50 hours though they're going to be speeding up days soon so 50 hours is probably going to be like, I don't know a week in game? Who knows but it will be even more ridiculous. A lot of people go to hospital or even die from constipation after camping because of the change in diet(unless they're "camping") and holding it in so they need doctors to take fistful's of it out in hospital. I think diarrhea is a step too far, it would just get annoying and they definitely would need to add toilet paper then. -

Well there's not an infinite supply of rippable clothes is there? Though they could be re-usable for that purpose I guess. -

Exactly why hold back changes because people who shouldn't even be playing the game are doing so? "Someone took their baby in to the restaurant, looks like we can't sell alcohol any more" that's about as much sense as it makes. Poop is actually useful though a survival tactic is pooping in a plastic bag and holding it, since it's warm, if that sounds childish it's you who's childish not the idea it's something soldiers and whatnot actually do because they have to. And you could use it for fertilizer nobody wants to handle their own poop but that doesn't mean the stuff isn't helpful in various ways. Does it REALLY matter if people would use it in immature ways? This is a game where you can force feed people rotten fruit and poison them with disinfectant as well as inject them with strange substances, it's not like it would bring a new level of immaturity to the game it's already there. In game I would rather have poop thrown at me and be left to live than poisoned or just straight up shot. The main issue is hygiene. Do they add toilet paper to go with it or what? Because if not we'd need to be able to wash ourselves or it would be pointlessly dumb, what use is fabulous looking pristine gear when you've got heaps of shit sticking to your butt hair? Suppose they could add a type of leafy plant to harvest leaves from? Which could also double as kindling for fires so it's not merely the arse wiping plant. -
Common items you've never seen.

Can openers. Though only recently, or did I have a fantastic dream about them ever existing? Combat knives, specifically ones that aren't damaged or worse... -

But then you can't see if anyone or a zombie is coming at you...unless while you're pooping you become invincible XD It would be a cool thing to have, how many games have pooping? Imagine stalking people, waiting for them to poop and then either holding them up or just running in and stealing their stuff. There's no reason not to add things like this and sleeping it's a survival game, it's not like it's Resident Evil where you find magical herbs and ammo boxes everywhere it's supposed to be a gritty as real as possible survival experience, what's real about never pooping or pissing? Especially since days are going to be shorter eventually, meaning if you survive 30+ real hours that's many days in the game without any waste disposal, that would cause serious health problems. A lot of you bitch about very minor things "killing my immersion!" but not needing to use the toilet doesn't? I guess it's only immersion killing if it's not convenient huh. For as often as you'd have to do it it'd be fine to have in the game. You could even try find a house with an outhouse and make it your base so you have freedom to poop and piss as much as you want. Not sure if people against it just don't want a challenge or don't understand how ridiculous it is for a game like this not to have it, not to mention the severe health issues the player definitely should have. -
Nah some people can handle the killing I don't think it should be like that, nearly being killed often should do it if you're acting like you're in some intense world war it should have a negative impact on your health, bullets whizzing past you constantly and hitting you sometimes. As well as many attacks. Sanity would be cool so long as you slowly recovered from it if you avoided combat situations, talking to people and being normal should be the best way to recover but if you just relax it should fix itself, encourages co-operative gameplay but doesn't force it so people can't complain(though they would still do so)

haven't seen a police car since 0.49
UltimateGentleman replied to claws4life's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I noticed that, must be reworking the loot that goes in them since it was usually good stuff. Although I found a shotgun in a random car the other day so it's not like police cars are the only good ones. Perhaps they're figuring out where else to put them? It is kind of dumb for them to all be lined up outside of stations, since the police would no doubt be called out when the infection hit they should be in fairly random areas. I'd like it if they made them spawn randomly since I guess they should be almost guaranteed to have good loot unless already taken they should be a semi-rare find, less rare than chopper crashes but not like everywhere. -
Yeah people don't seem to get that no games really use the hardware high end PC's have and that the reason a lot of "next gen" games look like shit is because they've been either bad ports or lazily designed, not that the hardware can't manage it. They've only scratched the surface with the new consoles it happens every generation, the first PS2/Xbox games are uncomparable to the last ones, PS3/360 same deal. The first games on any system always suck except maybe a few. It's all up to the developer.
-
It's not full of tension of all how often do you "meet" people really? You encounter them and pretty much always get attacked in some way if you or they don't have a mic. Encountering people for me just gives me a *sigh* feeling since no fucker can be more civilized than a caveman. And no there is no possible way to plan ahead for everything and not get killed unless you move at a snails pace and get lucky nobody is watching you creep around like an idiot. There is no way to defend yourself against people on hills waiting to snipe you it's not possible to cover every hiding place. I wish people would stop acting like every time you get killed it's because you're not skilled enough, just isn't the case. Skill plays no part in someone you couldn't see without looking at them and seeing them move shooting you from a distance, or someone too far away for your computer to even render. Survivability in this game is almost entirely luck based, beyond the chosen few who have no strategy to their movements and just run everywhere. Anyway, that's off the point. No. Morality would just be annoying, I don't like people and don't want to interact with them in positive ways, if I need something then yeah I'd trade but with this games community, not worth the damn risk unless it's set up on here so I'd rather just avoid people, in real life it wouldn't bother me at all. If the world had ended and I was alone and had the option to have any creature be my companion it would be a dog or something not a person. So why should I be forced to be nice to people who probably won't follow the system anyway? Along this lines though if done properly sanity would be kind of cool, the first human kill you get should have some kind of affect on you and being constantly attacked by zombies and players too should mess your character up a bit, shakes and stuff. This would be good to encourage people to step back sometimes, constant near death experiences would make anyone go mental so it'd stop them from their MLG CoD rampages constantly, they can go back to it of course but it gives other people a break for a while at least.

Make more zombies but remove their ability to run.
UltimateGentleman replied to magafe's topic in Suggestions
Slow zombies would be cool if they were only in hordes or very rare. Perhaps the zombies could be like 28 Days Later where they eventually starve to death, slow moving ones haven't had a good snack in a long time and have some sort of pack intelligence to try get food better, Other than that we need zombies that won't be able to chase us for miles and miles, their stamina and hawkeye vision is insane, if you keep running sure they slow down but it's more like they get bored than anything else if you stop, even when they're a tiny dot on your screen, even if it's when you're zoomed in they'll run at you all that distance. It's kind of silly and unreasonable that this messed up infected creature could have infinite stamina when it's body shouldn't have the energy to run so much. Certainly hope they don't plan on leaving zombies stamina the way it is, a healthy human being should not have issues running away from them. -
Well I'm certainly not keen on having a restricted FOV whilst having to deal with silent sometimes invisible zombies all while struggling to find anything useful on persistence enabled servers to not starve or freeze to death, the game is hard enough now it stops being remotely fun when you have to double tap alt constantly just to make sure nothings just about to smack you when any normal person would have heard and seen that zombie sprint right up to you from that angle. First person is just annoying as it is it's neither hardcore nor realistic it's just a chore. Of course it's not any less realistic than third person but it's nice being able to avoid zombies somewhat since they chase you like forever, are a bitch to hit half the time and spawn in backup. I wonder if any game will be able to make first person properly imitate the real FOV? Are we really going to have to wait for complete virtual reality? If it's enabled in the server you're on there is no value to not using third person, people are going to use it against you why give them an edge over you.
-
I don't notice that at all because most zombies chase me like 20 minutes XD I usually have to sprint for 5-10 minutes before they get far away enough to finally not be able to see me but even then they seem to keep running in the same direction until they do see me and the chase will be on again. I hope they severely nerf their vision in future, like 30-50m radius but good hearing so if you knock anything over or throw stuff around you're gonna get swarmed.
-
It doesn't seem slow down so much as it does get bored though if you go near them again or stop they start running again... Still they're part of a subclass in the zombie genre, so zombie isn't incorrect. Going deeper in to the genre and calling them undead would be wrong a zombie label isn't really it's just not the complete truth. Just annoying seeing all the snappy comments about ugh they're not zombies you cretin! Like who really cares? We know what people mean when they say zombies or infected or zeds etc etc just stop being nitpicky. (not aimed at you, that kind of people) Anyway they need to run out of stamina and be done for a few minutes not have a few second timer before they can run full speed again, same with the player of course but a healthy person should be able to run away from a zombie easily unless they're fat and slow.
-
That's the best thing ever. Anyway I'd love it if we could vault over things, as in place a hand on a fence for instance and jump over. And maybe vaulting over walls too, like when you swing over them if that makes sense. Of course you should have your weapons put away to use the latter and when stamina is introduced it should burn it like wildfire but it could still save your life.
-
And also near infinite stamina. I'd like to know what the boundaries are going to be for them in future, it doesn't make sense for them to be able to run all that long unless the lack of food is because they chow down on all of it, their bodies just shouldn't be able to function. Like with 28 Days Later eventually the infected started starving to death, unless they come out and say they're infected through some supernatural means they need to limit them greatly in future. Also can we all just call them zombies? It's a fairly broad term, there's no need to have zombie games and infected games when they're an incredibly minor detail from being the same thing. There's not much of a need to call them infected when who they were is most definitely dead, infected suggests curable which is silly in this game world. They're basically running corpses with animalistic urges and nothing more. They're still just dead people just not decaying like standard living dead type zombies.

Do you want pooping in this game?
UltimateGentleman replied to Jumbaliah's topic in General Discussion
I don't see why not so long as it's tastefully done. Like the camera pans away, I don't want to see shit coming directly from my guys asshole thank you. Of course people are going to be immature with it, save up poop and poop on hostages they take but they're going to find ways to be immature with everything in the game anyway so I don't see why it shouldn't be added due to that. But I don't want to have to put up with my guy getting diarrhea and having to shit every five minutes or even shitting his pants(though it would be hilarious) Constipation can kill you so for me it makes the game feel really dumb for you to not be able to poop, when you can do complex things no average person would know about like blood transfusions. It definitely shouldn't be added until zombies aren't going to spawn out of nowhere and kill you while the animation carries on though that would be horrid, unless we get a "throw poop at zombie" option then go for it. I'm probably joking about that, probably. So yeah so long as it was tastefully done and was only required every 3-5 hours maybe more, definitely. The crazy change in diet would definitely cause diarrhea. -
You must be part of the being a Killa makes you a badass! crew, how fun. KoS is cowardly and cheap if someone doesn't even know you're there what challenge is there, I prefer to shoot at people that look like a threat then it's up to them whether or not they have a firefight with me or leave. KoS is the "faggy" 12 year old playstyle. Not that KoS isn't suitable under certain circumstances. I don't think I've ever combat logged but I can see why, usually only get in to combat situations when I'm getting bored anyway so I enjoy getting groups of people to chase me through forests and such with guns, it's funny how much ammo they waste and get like nothing in return.
-
*sigh* Once again a PS4 is more powerful than my PC which runs the game decently well at very high graphics when it's not even optimized, there's no way the PS4 can't handle it it's only a taxing game because it isn't optimized. Considering their financial situation I doubt Sony would back it then drop it so it'll definitely come out for PS4 but maybe they'll drop it on PC, or just rush it.

Finally managed to survive! Spawned in...I don't know, a new town I believe it has a river/canal going through it if that helps and it appears as though nobody had been there so there was actually loot found a raincoat(pristine) within a couple of minutes, a zuccini and a pickaxe! I went on to find water bottles, canteens, cans of food, cattle prods, stun baton, mother fudging pristine splitting axe, matches, rice and cereal. The DayZ gods have finally given me a break it seems. Left a burlap sack next to my fire when I logged out...if I join the server again I wonder if it'll be there... Hilarious though. I joined the server and turned to my girlfriend to say "If I just stand here how long before a zombie attacks me?" Didn't even get to finish the sentence XD virtually every time I spawn it's like a zombie friend comes with me. The game seemed to run fine too, a little choppy but it was in a huge town so can't complain. The only issue I'm having is that I don't seem to get warm, if I'm close to the fire it's "My face is melting!" and as soon as I move away "I am shaking" warming up seems to take a long time.

Suggestion: Sleeping When Logged Out
UltimateGentleman replied to globalfriction's topic in Suggestions
What does it matter if Rust has sleeping it's not like they invented sleep in a video game, frankly it'd be weird if the DayZ devs hadn't even considered adding sleep already. If it had sleep it wouldn't suddenly become Rust that's no reason to add it, doesn't rust have guns? In that case DayZ shouldn't have guns or it's too like Rust, right? Sleeping would be of use when they added effects for lack of it like shaking, slow reflexes etc and when stamina is a thing lack of it, resting or logging out for a few hours gives you your stamina back(unless you're starving) It should be what the energized status is I think, food should equal...satisfied? I dunno, something like that.
