INTRODUCTION Well, this is my first actual suggestion within the DayZ community, therefor I hope to make this suggestion worth while. So..- Lets get to it! Throughout playing DayZ, although it was always kind of easy to find let's say a 'Long Range Scope' of kinds, I always wondered what it would be like if DayZ was more of an "Improvise to Survive" sort of game. One thought triggered another, leading me to wonder if duct tape actually had a use. I browsed multiple forums and the DayZ Standalone Wikipedia in order to find a use, however I did not find anything. THE SUGGESTION I was thinking of a makeshift Binocular Scope in which you need three easy to find items which are as followed; BINOCULARS (obviously)HACKSAWDUCT TAPEThe makeshift optic should be attachable to weapons such as the Blaze 95, Mosin Nagant and the SKS. In order to make the item attachable you must first have the specified items and drag the Hacksaw onto the Binoculars in your inventory and it will cut the Binoculars into two halves which will take up two individual inventory spaces. You then must drag the singular binocular onto the duct tape (or vice versa) which then makes "Makeshift Binocular Optic' (or something along those lines). Then, it will work like any other optic. This means you can just drag it onto your Blaze 95, Mosin Nagant or SKS and it will attach. The texture should look as if a few layers of duct tape are wrapped around the top of the binocular and around the weapon. In my opinion, it should look tacky as I'm sure you would be in a hurry for obvious reasons (inb4 zombie apocolipsssss). So yeah, that's basically my suggestion. Post your opinions, I'd love to hear them. - EnergeticSheep

I use this layout too. One of the more veteran gamer layouts but by far the best. Highly recommend. -
Falcon Roleplay. A quickly expanding, game changing and immersion inducing community which has been around for almost two years. Falcon was one of the first DayZ Standalone Roleplay servers which opened its doors to the public back in December of 2013. Since then, Falcon has received over 7,000 applications. Not everyone gets accepted though as we follow a strict roleplay guideline to keep immersion at its highest. In comparison to the previous figure, around 2,500 applications have been accepted. We are inviting you to attempt their application process and join the fast growing community that is Falcon Roleplay. Falcon has an understandable amount of rules which go into depth on different topics and sets a strict boundary for things such as Metagaming. When the rules are broken then there is always a punishment as members of Falcon are expected to withhold an excellent standard of Roleplay at all times. In fact, Falcon has actually introduced a new set of rules which are expected to improve roleplay drastically. The new set of rules are to be a major transformation in the future of Falcon and will make it even more enjoyable, presenting new roleplay opportunities and allowing more freedom for your characters. Some of the other rules that falcon has in play are things such as the Firefight Initiation Rule, Rules on Cannibalism, Rules on Robbery, Faction and Settlement Rules and many more. To read more about the rules, click below; Interaction with players in the Falcon Roleplay Server is completely overhauled. We do not endorse killing other players on sight as is the case in almost every public server and the majority of other private servers. Whilst killing a player on sight without interaction would be against our rules, your characters mindset should cause the conversation / interaction to vary every single time as your personality could clash or coincide with other players' characters. Player communication is carried out through in-game voice chat because it is directional and for the time being can serve as a good alternative to something such as Task Force Radio if that mod were to be implemented when mod support is available. Even though voice communications are preformed in-game, all players must be on our Teamspeak 3 server. Talking on the Teamspeak server about In Character matters is considered a severe act of metagaming and is in clear violation of our rule set. Killing other players is evidently not against the rules, but player interaction beforehand is a must and the killing must be justified in order to enhance all roleplay scenarios prior to shooting eachother. We also have several settlements within our community. The settlements act as Roleplay Hubs where all of the main roleplay happens between characters. You will often run into people around the Falcon gameworld who will roleplay with you in an equal amount of detail, but consistent and precisely thought out roleplay is usually found within settlements and factions. The application process begins on the website where you first must make an account. After making an account you can fill out an application which revolves around your first character. It asks you basic questions such as your characters name, a short but detailed background story and your characters age. You can go into more depth about your character after you've been accepted. You will also be asked additional information which consists of your Steam ID and other general questions. Before your application is accepted you are invited onto our Teamspeak 3 Server. You are expected to have studied the Falcon Lore by this point and various other rules. You will be quizzed about several hypothetical situations and asked what you would do in the scenarios. You will also be asked about the lore, the immersive map and server rules. So what are you waiting for?

I think that instead of only being able to carry one firearm on your back that you should be able to carry two, this of course would be at the sacrifice of any melee weapon which you are carrying on your back. You could store the melee weapon in your bag although this would greatly sacrifice space. Effectively, you would be able to triple-carry if you were to carry a weapon in your hands at the same time you had two weapons on your back, but there wouldn't be much reason to do so. Additionally, you should also be able to carry two melee weapons on your back. I don't really have the time to construct a full post but if someone has a question feel free to ask.
-
I find it unrealistic if double-carrying were to be "impossible", but double-carrying with the new stamina system should have drastic negative effects. Having weapon straps to allow for the ability to have a maximum of two firearms on your back seems like a viable option, though.

[Falcon] DayZ Standalone Roleplay/Realism Server Private Shard
energeticsheep replied to redblaster100's topic in Servers
I have to say, after joining this community I feel at home. I honestly recommend this community to everyone, such a friendly group of guys who show dedication and should take pride in what they have accomplished as of late. The server is finally running, and although I haven't been in this community long enough to see it develop (even though it is developing as we speak), I can most definitely see how much effort has been put into it to make it last. Not only that, but the player base is rather stable too. So you'll never be playing on the server alone because of the vast array of time zones which the community members live in. That's all from me anyway, I can see a bright future ahead of Falcon nonetheless. -

What has been your most terrifying/violent encounter with a bandit?

I was watching over Balota airstrip back when all of the good military gear was there and all of a sudden a fairly well geared guy, whom of which ran along from Balota town-side happened to get held up by two guys. I start zeroing my Mosin and establishing the range from the Sniper Hill to the road. Just as I'm ready to take a shot I hear someone else fire next to me about 15-20 meters away on the same ridgeline. Because I was looking through my scope, I saw the guy who was getting held up drop to the floor. I instantly see the other two guys start looting him so I know that the guy on the hill I am on is friends with the two guys down by the road. I take out my Sawn-Off, putting my Mosin on my back and slowly start to back away from my sniping position. I remember seeing a purple taloon backpack next to a tree, which was probably one of the smartest things I've seen done in DayZ. I was ready to take my shot on the backpack aswell until I was told to hit the deck. What made it scary was the fact that he yelled it and let off a warning shot next to me. I placed my hands in the air and the guy checked his gear, I guess to look for handcuffs or something. His mistake was simply the fact that he checked his gear - So I picked up my shotgun into my hands and spun around and killed him. By this time I was hearing "I'm coming for you", which was presumably the two guys from down the hill who were originally on the road. I ran further back into the forest area and hid in a bush, reloading my shotgun. It turns out that there were actually three of them who I knew I wouldn't be able to take out alone with a Shotgun and a Mosin, nevertheless they walked about 5 meters away from me and still couldn't see me because I was camouflaged. At least when they walked past me I was able to loot their friend, although alot of his gear was ruined I got more Mosin ammo which was in an ammo box.
