Hostages and robbing rates seem down?
energeticsheep replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
I tend to hold people up with my friends, however we usually end up putting a cap in their leg and leave some Morphine or a Splint somewhere random in the town for them to find. -
Maybe the odd one or two..
-
Hmm. There was another topic similar to this about marking buildings with an 'X' and somewhere along the line someone wanted to tag things freely as if you could draw whatever you want. But obviously, the problem is still here that someone will draw an erect penis on the side of a police station to troll people. I don't personally like the idea, however there may be a way around it. In Garry's Mod, or basically any other Source game (TF2, etc.) You have in the option menu the freedom to change what your spray tag to be. Many people have absurd spray tags, and I'm sure there will most definitely be an erect penis yet again but this time more graphic.

I have to say I'm rather happy that the M4 Spawns have been reduced and the AKM's have ultimately been risen. It's more realistic this way.
-
If you remove Sniper Rifles, you may aswell remove every other weapon. Every weapon can be used to snipe a target, whether it be a M4, an AKM (With the new PSO-1 Scope) or just one of them cool Longhorn Pistols which are coming out soon enough. If you remove the Mosin and what not, players are going to find a new weapon which is decent enough to pick off targets from a distance with. Instead of removing Sniper Rifles, why not make the system more complicated and more skill-based. Perhaps you could add Windage (Much like ARMA II ACE) so you have to account for more than just range. It wouldn't be too hard to add in a Kestrel 2500 Wind Monitor to the loot tables either.

Survival as an End-Goal (Lowering KoS too)
energeticsheep replied to NoWalls4Zed's topic in Suggestions
I agree. Surely if you had gear as a new spawn, someone is most likely going to want that gear if they don't have it. In my opinion it increases KoS. -
Easter Eggs? Aliens? Mysteries? [Official]
energeticsheep replied to Matej (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
Why don't you try placing one of them gas light things on the south side of the structure circle thing and sit in the middle and constantly spin your mouse around. EASTER EGGS. In all seriousness though, It was confirmed that there would be a sewer system, I believe. -
My first kill..- Ah yes, I remember. (Prepare for a story) I made my first trip to Balota Airfield, however I had a feeling that it was not as safe as it looked. There was practically tumbleweed rolling along the deserted airstrip and the odd desynced rabbit bouncing around the ATC Tower. I came to the conclusion to go around the airfield, then finding a half decent sniper point which was between the Hangars and the ATC Tower, around 500m away. An innocent freshspawn strutted away from the coast line, I noticed him briefly as he passed throughout the buildings of Balota Town. I took aim, wondering if I should practice my shooting with the Mosin. I placed my finger on the trigger, or in this case my left mouse button. I heard a click, noticing that my weapon wasn't even loaded (That was by far the stupidest thing I've ever done on DayZ). I loaded my rounds, then noticing a strange green bush sprinting towards him with a branch in it's hand. Oh of course, it's a Bandit. The newspawn flushes into a building under a wave of fire bursting at him from the main road. I reposition myself, knowing that it was obviously a sign to do the right thing. After three to four minutes of finding a spot, I still could hear gunfire coming from the same location. I judge my range accordingly, making sure my weapon is loaded this time round and rest my finger on the mouse button. I push my mouse along my desk to scroll towards my target. I catch a glimpse of him running away from something... "Stand up, place your hands on your head, don't turn around." Well I'll be damned. I ran into a death-trap too greedy to get my first kill on a Bandit, on anything for that matter. Although, my instinct kicks in. I check my inventory quickly to make sure my weapon is loaded before doing a 180 No Scope and placing a bullet in between the guys eyes. Headdddshot. All of his gear was pristine apart from his glasses, which was a damn shame since they were snazzy lookin'.

Rocket discusses Smoking and Cigarettes in Day Z
energeticsheep replied to jasonb's topic in Suggestions
yes, we need alcohol. Lots and lots of it. -
The problem with being able to freely use a spray can or whatever in order to write/draw something will most definitely lead to some prick drawing a massive shaft on the wall of a church or a schoolhouse. It's very likely to be abused so I don't support it. However, if it weren't going to be abused (which it is) then it would be a great idea. Back onto the topic of actually marking buildings with an X or some other shape; I think the idea is definitely cool, but what's the use of it when the idea of an open door generally means the building has been looted. It doesn't serve much purpose other than doing what leaving a door open does.
-
It's a confusing way of going about things. I don't necessarily like this idea. If you can see things with your own, real, eyes, then surely you can just stop at these 'clutters' and move around them, even if you are sprinting. Good idea nevertheless, it just needs developing some more IMO.

When the game is "finished" (out of Alpha|Beta)
energeticsheep replied to Raoul9753's topic in General Discussion
The map is growing, to say the least. They're constantly adding new towns/cities (for instance the new city which will be up north, the name escapes me) and it's only going to get bigger and better. Not to forget that it's evident new maps will come out eventually to keep the game seeming fresh. -
This is.. interesting to say the least. I'm not addicted to epinepherine, but I'm totally down for attaching defibs to my balls if you wanna hang out some time.

That's because on wednesday it is server maintenance day. wait around 2-3 hours ;)

Your CPU may be stressing and it calms down when you end the game process, it's what happens to me anyway -
Problem while browsing servers! Please HELP!
energeticsheep replied to MyGamertagBro's topic in Troubleshooting
The problem with the internet loading slowly seems like something on the CPU end (it happens for me as I have bad CPU) I'm not sure about the other part. -
Hey guys, So I came up with another suggestion which I think is ideal for tracking and concealment, but also makes the game more realistic. So, what is my suggestion? Well, instead of making Soda Cans dissapear once you have drunk them, it should re-appear in your inventory as an empty can which obviously doesn't serve any purpose, so you may aswell get rid of it. Although sprinting away to a town which you intend to loot and dropping your empty cans across the road allows people to track you. However, you can counter this by scattering them around in random locations to stop anyone from following your trail. There evidently isn't a use for the empty cola cans, unless you guys can think of one. But overall, I think this idea makes the game slightly more realistic instead of Cola Cans dissapearing from your inventory. Discuss?

I'm aware we're not in a sniper game, although we're in a game which involves them. I don't see how the last point is relevant at all. Some people are fucking ignorant, I suggested one thing and said that opinions are open, but don't be a dick about it. If you're going to tell me why you hate this idea, do it without god damn swearing. I've stopped defending this thread because everyone is so stuck up that I just don't see a point anymore. It was a mere suggestion, which didn't need to be added. Not everything in the world of DayZ has to work perfectly. You could've elaborated on the idea by saying (like some people did) that it could be used as a spotting scope wrapped to the side of a Sniper Rifle, but no..- you guys just have to cry about how you don't like anything. Jesus christ.

So to all the people saying it would hit nothing..

Ever since I bought DayZ Standalone I've been having problems with my FPS, however recently it has got much much worse. My computer also occasionally crashes for whatever reason, it becomes completely unresponsive which is obvious. Before it is suggested, I've gone into my DayZ.cfg and changed around some settings like 'MaxFramesAhead' and what not, and although I've noticed a small difference in FPS, my computer still crashes. I've even tried the smaller things such as Razer Game Booster, but that doesn't seem to make much difference other than give me an FPS Counter in the top left corner (which is what I'm using to find average frames). Over a set time of 10 seconds, I believe I've worked out the average FPS of my computer IN THE MAIN MENU, This is as follows; 41 ,, 43 ,, 41 ,, 42 ,, 43 ,, 37 ,, 43 ,, 41 ,, 42 ,, 39 Adding these up makes 412 Dividing that by 10 gives you 41.2, so I know my average FPS is 41. Now, that seems all fine and dandy, however whilst in-game and strolling along wide open fields (a stupid idea in DayZ, I know) I get around 23 FPS which drops every so often. In addition, within cities I get around 8 to 11 frames (perhaps even less or a bit more) Along with this, also have another problem which causes my game to freeze (but not crash) and recover around four seconds after (either causing me to jolt forward into where my actual position would be if I didn't freeze, or just making me continue from where my game froze). As you can imagine, this looks as if I am desyncing massively on my other friends' screens. This occurrence can vary, however it usually happens every minute or perhaps even less. Low FPS, Computer Crashes. Need Help!
energeticsheep replied to energeticsheep's topic in Troubleshooting
I'm actually going to be getting some new hardware for my PC in July, but I could squeeze more FPS out of my game and minus the crashes. I am however going to be sticking with the GTX 770, as I believe that has maximum potential. Now that you're all aware, I'm looking for some advice on my new computer, my only question is "Is it good enough?" New PC Specs GPU - Nvida GeForce GTX 770 CPU - AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor (£131.48 >> $221.81) Motherboard - Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£116.99 >> $197.36) Memory - Crucial Ballistix Elite 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£69.71 >> $117.60) Storage - Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£52.79 >> $89.06) TOTAL - £370.97 or $625.83 As you can see, next to the specs I have put prices and underneath I have put the total. Opinions?
