Problem while browsing servers! Please HELP!
energeticsheep replied to MyGamertagBro's topic in Troubleshooting
The problem with the internet loading slowly seems like something on the CPU end (it happens for me as I have bad CPU) I'm not sure about the other part. -
Hey guys, So I came up with another suggestion which I think is ideal for tracking and concealment, but also makes the game more realistic. So, what is my suggestion? Well, instead of making Soda Cans dissapear once you have drunk them, it should re-appear in your inventory as an empty can which obviously doesn't serve any purpose, so you may aswell get rid of it. Although sprinting away to a town which you intend to loot and dropping your empty cans across the road allows people to track you. However, you can counter this by scattering them around in random locations to stop anyone from following your trail. There evidently isn't a use for the empty cola cans, unless you guys can think of one. But overall, I think this idea makes the game slightly more realistic instead of Cola Cans dissapearing from your inventory. Discuss?

I'm aware we're not in a sniper game, although we're in a game which involves them. I don't see how the last point is relevant at all. Some people are fucking ignorant, I suggested one thing and said that opinions are open, but don't be a dick about it. If you're going to tell me why you hate this idea, do it without god damn swearing. I've stopped defending this thread because everyone is so stuck up that I just don't see a point anymore. It was a mere suggestion, which didn't need to be added. Not everything in the world of DayZ has to work perfectly. You could've elaborated on the idea by saying (like some people did) that it could be used as a spotting scope wrapped to the side of a Sniper Rifle, but no..- you guys just have to cry about how you don't like anything. Jesus christ.

So to all the people saying it would hit nothing..

Ever since I bought DayZ Standalone I've been having problems with my FPS, however recently it has got much much worse. My computer also occasionally crashes for whatever reason, it becomes completely unresponsive which is obvious. Before it is suggested, I've gone into my DayZ.cfg and changed around some settings like 'MaxFramesAhead' and what not, and although I've noticed a small difference in FPS, my computer still crashes. I've even tried the smaller things such as Razer Game Booster, but that doesn't seem to make much difference other than give me an FPS Counter in the top left corner (which is what I'm using to find average frames). Over a set time of 10 seconds, I believe I've worked out the average FPS of my computer IN THE MAIN MENU, This is as follows; 41 ,, 43 ,, 41 ,, 42 ,, 43 ,, 37 ,, 43 ,, 41 ,, 42 ,, 39 Adding these up makes 412 Dividing that by 10 gives you 41.2, so I know my average FPS is 41. Now, that seems all fine and dandy, however whilst in-game and strolling along wide open fields (a stupid idea in DayZ, I know) I get around 23 FPS which drops every so often. In addition, within cities I get around 8 to 11 frames (perhaps even less or a bit more) Along with this, also have another problem which causes my game to freeze (but not crash) and recover around four seconds after (either causing me to jolt forward into where my actual position would be if I didn't freeze, or just making me continue from where my game froze). As you can imagine, this looks as if I am desyncing massively on my other friends' screens. This occurrence can vary, however it usually happens every minute or perhaps even less. Low FPS, Computer Crashes. Need Help!

Even so, I still imagine I'll be able to play games such as ARMA 3 and DayZ Stand Alone at around 50-60 fps, right? -

Low FPS, Computer Crashes. Need Help!
energeticsheep replied to energeticsheep's topic in Troubleshooting
I'm actually going to be getting some new hardware for my PC in July, but I could squeeze more FPS out of my game and minus the crashes. I am however going to be sticking with the GTX 770, as I believe that has maximum potential. Now that you're all aware, I'm looking for some advice on my new computer, my only question is "Is it good enough?" New PC Specs GPU - Nvida GeForce GTX 770 CPU - AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor (£131.48 >> $221.81) Motherboard - Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£116.99 >> $197.36) Memory - Crucial Ballistix Elite 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£69.71 >> $117.60) Storage - Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£52.79 >> $89.06) TOTAL - £370.97 or $625.83 As you can see, next to the specs I have put prices and underneath I have put the total. Opinions? -
Low FPS, Computer Crashes. Need Help!
energeticsheep replied to energeticsheep's topic in Troubleshooting
@ Estecvacio Basically it shows as if I am running normally on my friends' screen (even though for me I am frozen) and then my game will unfreeze and I will continue from where I froze and my desynced body would jolt back into position. @ Terminal Boy I understand. The reason I'm running it at 800x600 is because I'm playing in windowed mode. Feel free to suggest a resolution to play in, I'm confused as to the entire video options since I have a generally bad computer, so I just stick with the lowest settings. But what do you recommend? -
Low FPS, Computer Crashes. Need Help!
energeticsheep replied to energeticsheep's topic in Troubleshooting
I've already done this. It's around 78%, which I don't find suspicious, to be honest. -
INTRODUCTION Well, for starters let me just inquire about the fact that I know there is another topic referencing the same thing as what I am about to discuss (which should be rather obvious by reading the title) which is called 'Notebooks'. This was posted a while ago and has recently died down. I would like to talk about the ideas everyone actually has about notebooks, for instance suggestions which they would like to see be a factor of a Notebook/Journal. However, what do I mean by a 'Journal'... Well for those of you who don't know here it is: a daily record of events or business; a private journal is usually referred to as a diary THE PROS AND CONS Let's start with the positive side of things: It is a nice idea to find a diary and begin reading it, tracing back an average civilian turned Bandit/Hero and following them through their potentially inspiring story. It could potentially make a Bandit who killed the person with the Journal feel guilty, and potentially lessen the Bandit Community. It's awesome to think that you could write down all of your day and keep writing up until your death. Aaaaannnndd the cons: If I'm honest, there isn't any. You can discuss that between yourselves in the comments. MY SMALL IDEA I'm thinking that there should be two types of journals; a small journal with 50 Pages which takes up two slots vertically, whereas the Large Journal takes up four spaces in the shape of a square. This can be seen in a picture format below with RED being the large journal and GREEN being the small journal. Please, Discuss your opinions in the comments, I'd love to hear them. If you're going to post hate on this, don't be pathetic.

[new rare item] parabolic directional microphone
energeticsheep replied to OZeT's topic in Suggestions
I think this idea is unique and I like it, although at the moment I'm staying neutral. I would like to add to this suggestion anyway, so here it goes; The headphones for the Parabolic Microphone should be found separate in order to balance out the fact that this could be the matter of life or death. To attach the headphones to the parabolic microphone obviously you would need to drag the pair of headphones onto the microphone which will merge them together. My last point is that this item should be very rare and well hidden in several different locations around the map, however the headphones should be rather common as in real life they're practically an every day item, especially for us gamer's. Underneath, if you choose to click spoiler, I have constructed a small demonstration on what the inventory spaces would take up if this were to be a real thing within DayZ. -
LiquidCactus.. If you don't have anything productive to say, don't say it at all. It's a suggestion, if you don't like it then be my guest and say so with a provided reason and I'll respect it. There only reason you're commenting is so you can get yet another post because you're a postwhore. If you really wanted to state how much you hated this suggestion, you would've done so without being so immature. and thank you Pilgrim for noting both sides.

Alright. Thank you for shedding light by commenting on this topic. If we could just leave this now for other people to post their opinions, thank you. c:

Noted. In response however, I'm just throwing out ideas to try and see if the idea catches on. Personally, I like the idea although 10 shots is honestly crap and not worth while, but what i'm trying to get across is the fact that it won't last long, even if it is more than 10 shots. Let's say 10 magazines, so basically 50 rounds with a Mosin. That's stable enough to me.

Improvising planes is off-topic, if I'm honest. I couldn't give a damn about MacGyver, I'm just saying it's a feature which would be cool to see added. Within a Zombie Apocalypse, business' will evidently go out of business. I don't know if you're aware, but that means no more weapon sights being manufactured by EOTech and Aimpoint.. The realism is there, perhaps the method isn't correct, but that's for people to test. There's features in DayZ i'm sure not many people like, and this may be one of them, but still, it's realism. Also, I beg to differ. Zeroing in real life and DayZ are the same, although in DayZ you press two keys whereas in real life you turn a small dial (depending on what rifle you're using). Some optics don't even have zeroing in real life. Plus, this would be a quickly thought up piece of kit which anybody could have quick access too, even if it isn't good, it's still something.

Zeroing is not necessary by twisting a knob on a weapon, you can manually zero your rifle by firing off rounds which you can trace to it's impact zone, thus adjusting it so you can near that impact zone closer to your target. You don't need to use Page Up and Page Down or whatever you have it binded too.

I'm sure they were relating to the fact that the majority of weapon accessories are military grade or used for hunting; what if someone didn't have access to this and they were scared to hit up an airfield; simple, you can find hacksaws, duct tape and binoculars everywhere.
-
It's makeshift, it's not intended to be beneficial, but at least it allows for you to see a good distance without having to switch from Bino to Gun. Plus you can always account for bullet drop. Not everything required zeroing, it's just there for assistance.
-
Then make the scope incredibly finicky, after every 10 magazines or so the duct tape will tear off or release because of the pressure it has to withstand due to recoil.

I hope you realize this is a game.. a game in which zombies have more or less taken over. Not everything has to be realistic to the tee, there are flaws in this game which are not realistic, I'm sure we can both agree and will most likely not be changed as they make the game better overall.
-
I understand your point, and thank you. It's not meant to be entirely beneficial. Not everything within this game should be beneficial because of the fact it's apocalyptic. If everything was beneficial there would be no god damn zombies. I'm not expecting the optic to be used often, but it's a cool feature which if you're trying to fix yourself up a makeshift optic because you can't find for example a PU or Long Range Scope then there's an easy to make option.
-
Actually I got an A, but I'm pretty sure the subject of binoculars being used as a weapon scope doesn't really categorize under physics.
-
I never said it needed to be zeroed. It's improvised, meaning surely it won't be as good as an actual scope. There was no need to react in such a negative way. I'm fine with your opinion, but saying I'm trolling because of a mere idea, pathetic. However, I understand the flaws and I thank you for the responses. If you look down the Binoculars it has a Cross which spans across the entire glass in which the center can be used as a reticle.
