I've come up with a simple idea which could project the use of duct-tape. As we currently know, carrying around duct tape is a waste of space, but it is so common. Why not use it as a pair of handcuffs? Tie it around someones hands and use a knife to remove it. The duct-tape should have a percentage of 100% to begin with and degrade by 25% every time you use it. Obviously, wriggling out of the duct-tape would be an option and would be slightly easier than the handcuffs, but would work practically the same. Simple idea, but it seems effective to me. Sorry for the lack of detail, but it's pretty self explanatory.

Loving how rare AKM's and High Cap Vests are.
energeticsheep replied to Capo's topic in General Discussion
I found one AKM at NW Airfield, it was entirely unlooted on the eastern side so I moved East-to-West looting the airfield and picked up an AKM with PSO-1 optic and one of those fancy handguard rails. Surprised I only found one though. Love the rarity. -
PLEASE let us attach flares to our backpacks

What would be the point of duct-taping a flashlight to a weapon when you already have Pistol/Weapon Flashlights. -

Easiest ways to take down a helicopter
energeticsheep replied to Texboygamer's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
If you're an experienced pilot, unlike the incompetent AI, then when your tail rotor is shot out it's the easiest thing to recover from. Speed is your friend. A ruined tail rotor won't stop you from flying. -
Rocket on Ghosting vs Barricading/bases
energeticsheep replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
Problems could potentially arise anyway. Say you log out in a town and the next day you log back in and it warns you there is a player in the area, first, the other player is probably now fucked since you know that player is there so the likelihood you're going to kill him if you have a weapon is high. The other problem is that it could spawn you a mile or so away from the 'zone' and completely lose your bearings. -

Made this quickly in photoshop; I quite like the idea of this, although it does hold the potential to turn your character into Guy Fawkes.. I personally prefer the Chemlight Attachment over the flare attachment. Either way, It's going to work wonders for snipers. -
DayZ mod better then Standalone?
energeticsheep replied to frosti's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Since it's clear you browse the forums often (judging by your significant amount of posts) I'm surprised you haven't realised that a pathfinding feature is being worked on for the Zombies in order to fix them glitching through walls, etc. thus meaning that the zombies will be more better. Plus, I'm bringing up the old excuse now of the game still being in Alpha and under heavy development. -
I agree. The lack of loot in the more centralized areas of the map is what causes less incentive to go there. It is way too easy to get good gear on the coast and NEAF is way too easy to access. I can understand and am not by any means criticizing the airfields on the southern and eastern coasts as it adds a lot of fun combat situations, however I'm mainly looking for that in the middle of the map where it's basically a high stakes game of Russian Roulette rather than being killed and running directly back for your gear. The way to fix this is definitely to add spawns in the center of the map, as easy as that.

It won't necessarily 'never happen'. That's being stubborn. This suggestion is highly reasonable.

Do you have to run the game with GeForce Experience to get the frame boost or can you just run it as normal without GeForce Experience. -
Try see if your aspect ratio is correct.

Fair play, considering it'd be kind of hypocritical for me to back that theory down. The other day I was in one of them green piano buildings in Svetlojarsk and a squeaker runs up to me yelling "I'm friendly, don't shoot I'm friendly!!!1!" and then tries making friends with me. I didn't trust him at all, mainly due to his voice in all honesty, and he then resorted to punching me around 3 minutes later. So I shot him. R.I.P

This makes you seem like more of a 'sick bastard', as you say, than I am. So if you hear someone, even if they're a newspawn in need of medical attention and they sound like a douche, you'll just kill them. Yet you claim you're friendly.

Are snipers the most harmless thing in DayZ?
energeticsheep replied to bauertschi's topic in General Discussion
Usually, when I find a Mosin in DayZ I would use it, I hardly ever skip by on a Mosin because they're almost perfect. Personally, I always have a notepad by my side in real life, and I'll write down range tables, a brief description of the surroundings and grid co-ordinates (taken from dayzdb.com map) and keep jotting them down so when I go back to that location after sniping there once, I can easily get the range. I'm not sure if many other people do this, but it's my personal specification and it makes sniping a lot easier. It's definitely the person behind the rifle which matters, if you have no experience with a weapon, even if it is in a game, the likely scenario is you're not going to be very effective with it. -
how can i tell if a person has died
energeticsheep replied to i3uildabear's topic in General Discussion
If you fire a round through the back of his skull the only thing you're ruining is his brain, and I'm sure you're not that interested in harvesting his brain now, are you? -

Go into your recycle bin and find DayZ.cfg, upon finding it, right click it and press Restore.

or, alternatively; http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus#2.062.079

You're in Novy Sobor, next to Stary Sobor. If you head North West for around 3 clicks or so you should hit North West Airfield.

Looks good, I'm liking this idea.

There was slight reasoning, They constantly had their weapons out even when I told them to put theirs away. I was nervous around them, which I aren't usually around others. Something was telling me that something was wrong anyway, that feeling you get in DayZ when your adrenaline rushes, that was happening. I had a feeling something was bad, especially when they approached me with weapons risen saying "Put your weapon away" so I had to reside to yelling "Friendly Friendly, I'm friendly.." I had a feeling that as soon as I would give his friend a blood transfusion, a message in the bottom left of my screen would pop up saying I was being handcuffed. Although I can't be certain this was their intentions, I sure felt like it was.

I was a friendly person for around my first 20 hours. I also bandaged people (even if they had guns) and supplied them with food, blood and ammunition although obviously there was a few people who threw this back into my face and decided to kill me for my supplies, however this didn't bother me that much. There was one time where I met 3 guys at night in Berenzino, I'd only killed one or two people in self defense, or maybe to defend a new spawn. My finger was still twitchy every time I had a gun in my hand. One of the guys asked me if his friend could have food, because he had no color on his screen. I told them that I was just going to get a blood bag test kit I saw earlier since I was out of food, which in all fairness I was. I set up a point in a green building whilst they stupidly remained in the open park-like field on the outskirts of Berenzino. I attached my Red Dot Sight to my M4 and waited, making sure I had my 60rd. Magazine loaded, making sure that I was coming to the right decision, I wasn't. I held down the Left Mouse Button, pulling my mouse downwards so I can somewhat control the recoil. I didn't let go, and the muzzle flash was making it near impossible to see my targets. After going through around 40 rounds, I finally released the trigger and scanned the field. I saw 3 corpses with blood spontaneously spitting blood from all of their new orifices. I waited in my same position, afraid to leave in case anyone else popped by for a visit. After about 5 minutes of waiting, sure enough I saw two new spawns running directly for the bodies. I instantly assumed it was the guys coming back for their loot. As soon as they got to the bodies I began spitting rounds down range. I kept going for about 10 minutes, constantly fending off people from the body until some hero fuck decided to put a 7.62 round through my temple. I got sniped at from the Apartment Buildings, it kinda' put things in perspective about how much of a prick I was being. Oh well ;D
