What am I supposed to take from that? are you calling me an idiot now? Be clear. No one's claiming to know what you were thinking at the time. They are basing their opinions on what you showed us in the video. It's funny, because you seem to be unable to accept the idea that the video portrays you as acting with some kind of intent, even if you were thinking something completely different. Also, calling a spade a spade in this situation is apt. You duped. The guy saw you doing it and shot you for it. He called you on what he saw was happening. Just because you might have been mentally oblivious to the fact at the time doesn't change what it was. Take your lumps and move on, don't do it again, pay attention to what is going on in front of you in future, and don't make silly videos about and then call other people idiots when they disagree with you.

Are you aware that advertising a server as PvE is against the server hosting rules and should be reported? I didn't realise that when I started out and went on a few "friendly" servers and got shot several times. Let me see if I understand this. You duped. You got killed for it. But you don't like being called a duper. So you came here to show everyone that you duped and got shot for it, so that you could argue that you're not a duper because you don't like the term being applied to you. So it's kind of like, getting into a fight doesn't make you a boxer. Fixing a faucet doesn't make you a plumber. That's your logic, right? So you're talking about the generalisation of being labelled a duper as a consequence for your one-time actions. Yeah? Thing is, you heard what your friend said. You were clearly aware that your character had duped as you totally ignored it when you respawned. Yellow guy even shouted out not to do it, but you did it anyway. Then Yellow guy shot you both for great justice and you got pissed off about it and called him a faggot. The video looks like you knew what was happening. Adding "uh... wut" text just before you do it doesn't change that after the fact. So in this instance being called a duper is apt. As long as you don't do it again then no worries. Game is alpha, shit happens. No one's gonna hold it against you in the long run. Props to Yellow guy for spanking you both when he was outnumbered.

Would be cool to see more basic melee options. Even basic crafting recipes for it. That duct tape has gotta be useful some day, amirite? I like the idea of knife + stick + duct tape = improvised spear/pokey thing. Not really seeing a specific need to refocus the combat towards favouring melee in some drastic way to support it. It'd just be an alternative to an axe or baseball bat. That said, the mechanics of melee combat are still in their early stages and will hopefully be more robust in future. I'd love to be able to be able to duct tape a pitch fork to my rifle. Then you'd be in for some serious ass-forking X-D

I like the idea of your character being randomised when you spawn. Or at least having the option to randomise every time. When I first started playing (0.42), my settings wouldn't save so I'd usually respawn with random appearance/race/gender. It seemed to fit with the mystery of the game. I'm not sure how I feel about classes as it messes with the balance of the gameplay. If it were purely aesthetics, then fine, but I don't want any of that +3 aim +2 strength stats bull crap in this game.

Hmm. Why were you on such a low population server in the first place? Probably doing exactly the same thing as everyone else who was logging in there. Easy loot. Also, as mentioned, wall peeking. Shame on you.

Hehehe X-D have at thee! BOOOM! I'm open to your idea. It seems to have some mileage. I mean, as things stand currently it's a bit of a roulette when you join a server anyway so, as I see it, having no indication of how many people are on the server is tantamount to having an inaccurate indication. It would go someway to addressing the issue of joining low population servers to gear up before joining high population servers and so forth as well. But there are legitimate reasons why having the player count is useful. For example, if you or your friends are new to the game and you want to get your bearings before jumping in the deep end - I guess later on "newbie friendly" servers could help accomplish that though. Conversely, what if you want to find a fully populated server so you can get more action? Having to connect just to find out if there's anyone on there would be annoying and cumbersome. Plus, ultimately, it promotes server hopping, more so in some ways than the current system - unless you could specify a minimum amount of players. Another thing that comes to mind is, later on when bases/tents/camps are added, you're going to want to stay on the same server over time. If you end up joining a full server, you may have issues later on trying to get on there if it's constantly full. I don't really have any idea beyond having a lobby system (a la L4D) or some way to filter servers with x amount of free slots. I think I'd be more in favour of encouraging server loyalty through permanent camps and maybe figuring out other ways of downplaying the gear-up-and-switch approach that a lot of players use currently. Maybe an "I'm feeling lucky" kind of option when connecting would work, as it gives you the option to join at random. So, what are your thoughts?

I'm aware that this thread was started before 0.44 went stable, but this was the first thing that went through my mind when I saw the title. Can't believe I had to go through 10 pages before someone actually mentioned it? Sure, there's been some interesting exposition on the subject of crossbows vs guns, but isn't this the main thing that should be kept in mind? I think there's a general consensus that the weapons are currently unbalanced and unrealistic in a some ways, and the devs obviously know this. I'm sure they're planning on addressing it at some point, and I hope they will take some of the points raised here into consideration. Not really sure why the melee weapons ended up so nerfed in 0.44, but I guess it's just something they changed and didn't have time to revert back or missed before release. Also can I just add that after having seen the crossbow in action, it's pretty damn sweet! I hope it won't get nerfed too much. I wanna be able to peg a zed in the head/chest and take it out quietly in one shot and not have to use 2-3 bolts/arrows to take it down. Though even that wouldn't be so bad once you can retrieve your ammo properly! Looking forward to hunting, too.

I find this response disappointing. Like, you're willing to throw an initial idea out there, but not actually flesh it out when someone wants to know how you think it would actually work? Is thinking about it really that difficult for you? How about they add a railgun? How would that work? Pffft, let marketing figure it out...

Props for killing those guys. They deserved what they got. Even using their own ammo on them. But you were clutching that wall peeking exploit a lot, and I get the impression you're already in the habit of using it, so there's a bit of pot calling kettle black here. Not saying that leaning is anywhere near as bad as aimbots/ghosting/ESP, but it's still a form of cheating which, if you do use it regularly, makes you a bit of a cheating bitch too. Something to consider. Anyway, what did you do with the ammo afterwards?

I wouldn't be against it. But don't you get visual cues from the condition of the item from its icon anyway? Though it is hard to distinguish between badly damaged and ruined at a glance with some items.

As it currently stands, I find the server information to be inaccurate anyway. Like if it says 10/40 are playing, I'll connect and it'll be more like 20. The time of day is usually wrong as well. One downside to your suggestion would be if you were planning on joining with a group of friends. What if the server was 39/40 when you joined? You wouldn't know until you found out none of your friends could join. How would you address that?
