I wouldn't have thought any of those settings would be available if you were not running a persistence server. Im guessing with persistence turned off, the loot respawn setting would be managed as a default from the hive like it always has. Happy to be corrected. We have switched both our 1st person and 3rd person servers to persistence and the feedback at this stage is that its working fine. I havent dicussed with our server op what these settings are currently on our own servers. We want to discourage server hoppers by maintaining a lower than normal loot respawn settings and are curious to see how this affects our population stats. I guess time will tell. Thanks for the explanation on the settings though.

0.49 UPDATE: BEARS,PLANTING,HARVESTING & NEW GRENADE! (CHERNARUS LOCAL NEWS)

You dont play on the same servers that I do. Sad -
Vanguard, I know tools to monitor this aren't really available to provide much detail, but you had a hacker on your server last night; ghosting, teleporting the works. Real shame but it's still happening. I think a few people may have video evidence but I'm not sure at this stage. Will keep you posted. Cheers

Q3 Starts on July, Q2 development balance?
Harry Costi replied to cuartas's topic in General Discussion
Development of any application; business, gaming and the like very rarely runs alongside the roadmap 100% and typically when they do they are buggy as anything ( Battlefield 3 or Total War Rome 2 anyone??) That aside this latest patch was flat. Sure AKMs are great, helicopters great apparently but survival mode additions will be mostly unused while I can acquire beans and other food stuffs while looting. I can only guess that over the coming maintenance releases the canned foods etc will become harder to find. Also there are bugs with losing dropped items, Mosin and the Atlas bipod and those annoying items missing errors should have been ironed out before release alpha or no alpha. Its just sound development process. -
Default configuration at each game start (unwanted)
Harry Costi replied to roguetrooper's topic in Troubleshooting
I have a fix for this issue. It has to do with Steam/Dayz not being able to write the config files to the default directory. You have the change that directory. Instructions in the other thread http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/161105-cant-find-dayzcfg-for-better-fps-rate/ -
I think its a setting issue. Did you recently update or change your video settings?

Can't find Dayz.cfg for better FPS rate
Harry Costi replied to justaskydiver's topic in Troubleshooting
I have finally found a fix for this issue. I'll try to keep it in laymans terms as best as possible. Before I do that This is the post that helped me the most and kudos to Travis Sarbin for his intel. The default area for Steam to place the profile files (Dayz.cfg, username.DayZProfile and username.vars.DayZProfile) Is C:\users\username\documents\Dayz\. In some cases, like mine, this location doesn't exist like that because the PC is on a domain network and the My Documents folder is a redirected folder using Offline Sync. I wont go into the working parts of that other than to say I needed to make the default path for the profile files something different. The reasons why the default path didn't work I'm not sure, but I think it's security related. So whats the fix? Firstly I uninstalled the Dayz application from Steam and deleted all the game files. I did this to remove the chance that I'd get conflicting profiles. These are located in two areas; 1. My Documents\Dayz - delete the Dayz Folder (NB: You can move these files to a new location if required - read below) 2. C:\Program Files (X86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dayz - delete the Dayz Folder I then reinstalled the app, but this time I chose not to use the default path. I used my D:\ and created a new folder called SteamLibrary. Steam will actually prompt you down this path when you select the button to change the default install path listed above during the install process. Once Dayz was reinstalled, before launching the game, I create a new folder called Profiles - D:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\profiles. I then navigated to the Dayz game in Steam under the game library, right clicked on the game and selected Properties. Under the General tab, selected SET LAUNCH OPTIONS and pasted in the following; -profiles=D:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\profiles -nosplash -noPause then clicked OK. Now click on the LOCAL FILES tab and select BROWSE LOCAL FILES. This will take you to the game files. Right click on the DayZ application and select Properties. Under the Compatibility tab select Run this program as an administrator, then click ok. I did this part mostly due to the network setup and I dont think this is a requirement for all users. Check and test. Close the Properties window in Steam and then run Dayz from Steam. When the game opens. reset all your video, sound and other configurations in game then exit the game. You now have your profile files correctly located under the Profiles folder you created. TWO THINGS TO NOTE: 1. You could use this same process for moving your profile files to a new location such as a different folder rather than using the the default "My Documents\Dayz" folder. Just make the change in the launch options string to suit. 2. Because none of the profile files existed, I could have possibly not had to go through the reinstall process and just create the Profiles folder within the Steam directory somewhere in that case the command line would have possibly been something like this instead. -profiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\profiles -nosplash -noPause I cant confirm that this will work but I know what I did worked. I hope that helps others on the way. Cheers -
Can't find Dayz.cfg for better FPS rate
Harry Costi replied to justaskydiver's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi Survivor, Thanks for the reply. I believe its to do with the environment I play on. Its a domain network and not a workgroup. Also the domain is an SBS Server domain so the Documents folder is a redirected folder on a UNC path. The folders are read only by default but for some reason the files arent created. This is the baffling part. The folders are created, but the Dayz.cfg and the *.DayZProfile arent. They just dont exist. I have tinkered with security settings and the like but nothing has changed. It would be cool if we could configure where these settings files existed. Can someone link to or post the contents of their *.dayzprofile file? Can I manually create that or need to create that? Thanks -
Can't find Dayz.cfg for better FPS rate
Harry Costi replied to justaskydiver's topic in Troubleshooting
I have the same problem. Even writing up the cfg file manually doesnt update the file if I make a change to it. The folders are there but the files aren't. It looks like a permissions issue but Im not sure where it could be. The game works fine but making any changes to the settings are not saved. Its frustrating as it seems to only affect a handful of users so potential fixes arent documented.
