  1. I know how the controls work and am sprinting as fast as possible on my toon. Simple problem when I sprint zombies can run faster and catch up to me. This is with weapon put away running full speed. Same results when I am geared or not. I am also fully healthy and not bleeding/wounded. I cannot escape zombies in a sprint even when they are like half an airfield away. I am also slower than my friends....they can all sprint faster than me. I would say my friend is at least 20% faster than me. If possible I would like to fix this issue as being this slow puts me at a huge disadvantage.... I cannot escape most zombies once aggroed....and other players can easily catch up to me. I play with all settings at max. My PC can handle it just fine I am using a 780 TI with and intel I7 4770k

    I run slower than everybody else and zombies

    I am double tapping ... I am hooked up to the LAN with next to no ping and the max amount of bandwidth money can buy in my county I may have to tweak the gfx settings see if that helps...things look so beautiful at max though :(
  3. TRUST ME I know the difference between the two. Sprinting is not faster than the zombies for me... I have not played over 200 hours without figuring out the controls.... I am full on booking it as fast my character can go.
  4. No weapon in hands...SPRINT max speed and they catch up to me even when I have a sizeable lead....There is something wrong with my toon as my buddy is faster than me by almost 20%. Even when freshly spawned I am slower sprinting then him and he was fully geared. Somehow my character is just slower than everybody else...which with the current state of zombies means I have to kill em all since they dont really get LOSed...
  5. So I hear the below ALOT on the forums: "I shot so and so for having a weapon out to teach him a lesson" Why is having your weapons holstered or not matter ? I mean I get the general idea that way people supposedly know your "friendly" But here is the deal the vast majority of players are NOT friendly. So it is in my mind to keep weapons at the ready in urban areas and millitary bases. I also expect and would not fault someone else for doing the same.I never shoot first but I rarely stop moving either and always have a plan to be in and out of an area in as little time as possible (some NWAF runs in under 15 mins) So many bandits like to camp easily defendable areas like an ATC or Prison stairs that running in without guns drawn is akin to suicide.. I recommend the policy to be meet each other as equals. If you encounter each other dont force them to put their weapon away or simply assume someone is a bandit just cause he has his out.... Instead meet in the middle and say u can keep ur weapon up but as long as u do I will keep mine up. If a shootout incurs both are likely to take dmg at close ranges as opposed to one becoming the prisoner in a game theory scenario. Also most people will shoot you whether you have a gun drawn or not.... All that said wait til someone fires upon another unjustly before opening fire.

    Yet another reason people will go pantless... "Dont wear pants noob this way you can crap faster while doing NWAF run " " dont wear pants just take a piss and crap while running let it run down your leg." I dont think it would be a good idea to add it cause it will detract from gameplay. If you have to crap and piss as much as you eat then thus gonna be the SIMS...make character sleep shower eat spend remaining 10% of your playing time doing what you like.... I am also not pqtricularlly fond of watching people take a crap and would not enjoy staring at that multiple times a day...

    Alternatives to the ballistic helmet

    Dont dis the motorbike helmet...imo it is better than ballistic. I have personally being shot in the head while running from a sniper at long range and not been knocked out or killed. Helmet was ruined and vision fuzzy and shaking with pain but I got away to live another day. I was fully healthy when shot and sniper was very far off. Motorbike also covers the entire face and provides protection from KO. Whereas someone could shoot you square in the chin and you would recieve no protection from ballistic helmet.
  10. Not complaining about them being hard as more about bad behavior and bug issues. Never killed by a zombie either but having zombies die silently only to respawn 800 meters away and reveal my position is a piss poor reward for me killing one stealthily. Not sure when the bug happens but once it triggers the zombies keep coming....I ax one silently in one hit to the head...zed does not even notice. 45 seconds later respawned zed that replaced that one has finally made his journey from the hangers to the tents and is accosting me. Meanwhile all other nearby zombies still have not aggroed...kill that one new one spawns and guns straight for me...eventually I decide to mow em all down with the M4 and just be ready to fight players off as well or just skip entire areas cause killing a straggler zombie with an ax, amphibia or crossbow silently apparently can have the same effect as if I just used my M4
  11. Here is my feedback: 1. Zombies outrun me in a dead sprint even with no gear 2. Not sure if 1 is intentional since my buddy wit gear on is even faster than me 3. Zombies respawned to replace a zombie u dispatched often will aggro u no matter how far away they spawned or if u are LOS...this is very broken 4. Even when dispatching zombies silently the respawned replacements are hunting me down. I am not mistaking this either...literally watching them spawn outta thing air standing still backs turned to me after I Axe a zombie clear on opposite end of airfield. Freshly spawned zombie quickly turns around and runs straight for me...meanwhile 4-5 other zombies in-between myself and him do not aggro . 5.They are often able to land hits whe they are visibly out of range. I can be 10 meters in front and drop the zombie but he will score a hit even though his lunge only just began and he died without reaching me.
  12. I agree we should not be marked as good or evil. My orginal post is more about why some feel that thus who run around with weapons out warrant unprovoked aggression.

    Ahh the fallacy of dayz. See servers with "police, friendly , or noob" in the title and it is infested with bandits. Join a server that says "bandits/KOS" welcome no one is there ;)
  14. Google a map...or follow the train tracks all the way to the end of the line (when your back is to the coast make a right and follow the tracks. Make sure u get some food and water before u leave the last city on the coast and hid up into the wilderness. Once u hit the end of the line head due east over the grassy hills and your there. Should take you two hours if u follow the tracks but there are cities and castles on the way insight of the tracks u can checkout.....just dont hid to NEAF unless u feel like dying.
  15. Dont give up. Make the trip to NWAF and hole up somewhere far north away from the maniacs of the coast. Then move on down south when you feel like observing but stay low key.

    Motorbike helmet does prevent KOs Aso provides the same protection from gunfire as ballistic helm while protecting the face.

    Seeing how I have way better gear then most robbing me equals taking like 90% of my stuff... Ill go down fighting and ruin the gear or both myself and the robber. I carry an M4 with 4 60 round clips loaded at all times and all pristine gear and have survived two mousin shots on more than one occasion. If your sniping I will be sprinting so dont expect an easy shot and if ur in cloe quarters be prepared for one hell of a shootout. I am also patient and will hold out in cover as long as I have to...after all it is more dangerous for those outside the building to be attacked by zombies or other players as opposed to me hiding out inside. That said I am friendly and if you see me at he airfields I am usually there for like 1 item literally so I am not really someone to compete with for ur lewts. U wont find me in the big cities I hide out in the north. Better to die in glory then end up a Bambi with food poisoning.
  18. True but only if you are efficent... Most bandits/kosers I have come accross are not at all. For example I have been sniper at on many occasions by a mousen and only hit 1-2 times in 5 shots. I live but barely even after two shots thanks to my gear. The sniper doesn't have to change positions unless I spotted him which typically I do not cause I am focused on taking cover. Now in a more fun zombie situation said sniper should be forced to haul ass out of the area cause he gave up his position and now is being hunted by zombies from a 360 degree radius of up to 1000 meters from all sides. If he is on a roof top the zombies should be busting down doors and ascending the stairs. If he is up a ladder they should flock to he bottom revealing his position. Ironically assuming I took cover quick enough he should pull in zombies away from myself making it easier for me to escape. As it stands now some kid with a mousin can sit far outside town with a n and not worry about aggroing zombies at all and pew pew away. His only worry being other players. In reality this is not how a sniper should operate. They should fire one or two shots and change positions quickly to a place more than 5 feet away for the nearest bush. Right now we just have a bunch of kiddie campers taking advantage that they can fire off potshots from 800 meters with realitive safety....ruining some of my gear but not scoring any real kills on moving targets. All that to say zombies also need to aggro and path realistically. Even axing them silently the server seems to be respawning zombies on the oppistie end of the airfield and the ones that respawned to replace the recently dispatched zombie seem to aggro u instantly no matter where they are. Absurd cause I can often see 3 or 4 zombies closer to me who do not aggro but this newly spawned zombie is on me in seconds. I even was in the middle of the woods and had killed a zombie just on the outskirts of NWAF and was slowly moving silently deep into the woods where zombies do not spawn normally and they were coming at me from all sides. I kept this up for 10 mins and was very far from any civilization but since I kept killing the replacement spawn zombies they kept spawning in my vicinity and aggroing instantly and rushing me
  19. Make zombies a bigger threat. make gunshots audible from further distances and have em call zombies in. add 10-20x as many zombies and have them spawn EVERYWHERE... Then people will cooperate more and it will be more fun. i did not buy this game for deathmatch with the occasional zombie to ax....i bought this to try and survive zombies while carefully working with other players who may stab me in the back.... right now other players just equal number 1 threat. Number 1 threat should be zombies

    Is the item damage mechanic useful ?

    I like it. Even if you hit the arm and kill the player when a dead body drops it drops hard and in unnatural ways. Could very easily destroy items in a backpack. maybe not every item though. However I am not going to push for hyper realism in this case....I feel that KOSers and bandits should need to exercise precaution and skill when taking a mark for gear. Avoid using shot guns, Aim for the head or legs, and...try looting gear on your own once and awhile ;) I am about as geared as you can get....I rarely ever see other players even close to my gear level...including bandits/KOSers. It is much easier to spend 1-2 hours hoofing it up to NWAF and then looting the place...it is a ghost town unless your on a 40 man server. I died due to ladder glitch the other day and I had all but 2 items back in 2 NWAF runs. right now my buddy and I just raid that once a day waiting on updates to the game to add more features like silencers and better zombie AI. Right now the beach is such a huge PVP zone man do not even venture far from it. If gear is not destroyed when people spray and pray or blast you with buckshot then they will have even less of a reason to come duke it out at NWAF.

So last night I was soloing through NWAF at around 23:00. disclaimer I play with gamma and brightness on max cause most do and not doing so cost my friend his life when another player was able to see him who should not have. I had just reached the barracks north of the ATC when I came around the corner and aggroed two zombies. Since they were close and took me by suprised I dropped them with my M4 and proceeded to slowly make my way towards the tree line to pick off any drawn in by the gunfire. Ended up killing 6 zombies in total. I decided to duck in the tree line where it was dark and rest for 5 mins and see if I drew any unwanted attention. After about 30 seconds I heard a faint rustiling which did not sound like the ambient back ground noises normally heard. Feeling nervous I followed a dark path away from the tree line into the center of the adjacent field. Here I found a very black spot where you would not see me unless your were looking very keenly from around 5 feet away. Also helps that I have a full black outfit I wear at night as opposed to normal TTSKO. Within 30 seconds I see 3 guys out of the corner of my eye come crouch walking by with their guns on their backs heading for the prison ( me being an idiot was taking a drink and had to panically cancel it) Had I not moved the three RHK guys would have walked right on top of me and probbably been rewarded with better gear then a single NWAF run can net ya ;) Was a risky run for me cause all I was there for was a TTSKO shirt for my buddy( which of course I did not find) I would have followed for fun to see what they were up to but I ended up getting the yellow chain of doom and rubberbanded while trying to follow after. I decided these were clear warnings of certain death in my stalking exercise so I logged off but maybe next time ;) Never know who is watching even at night on a 6 man server at NWAF.

    Great idea. I can just imagine how buggy their AI would be at first...imagine trying to be stealthy and your dog just runs out to the center of clearing to eat some rotten food ;)
  23. Hi here is a list of ideas I have for dayz. Please share your own lists and discuss each others: Clothing/apperal additions/ changes: 1. Addmore options for pistol holsters. Allow for them to be worn on waist and thigh. Even say concealed jacket holders. 2. Allow for bayonets and combat knifes to be stored in combat boots or millitary boots (needs a sheath for knife). Allow for quick draw from the boot when crouched. Also make knifes and bayonets do more dmg to humans. 3. Overhaul how clothing protects you. If anyone has seen the "how items protect you in dayz" series on you tube you know there is little difference in protection between vests pistol holsters and also some apparent anomalies such as the anti stab vest not giving any anti stab protection... 4. Allow for t-shirts to be worn under jackets 5. Add way more choices for clothing and gear apperal. Weapons: 1. Add a lot more types of weapons. Especially non millitary. Make the weapons mainly the type you would find in Russia. Finding M4s all over the place is not very realistic in Russia. Make each weapon as close to real life as possible. Make it so that players have a lot of choice in weapon types. 2. Make weapon aim and use more realistic. Make it very hard to hit something at more than 400 meters especially when the target is moving. Factor in wind speed and such as well. Make it such that aiming and spraying when in 3rd person is very inaccurate. As it stands now I have no use for a 1x may scope as they just give me tunnel vision and offer no assistance in aiming vs when I am in third person. 3. Ammo should be more scarce. 4. Increase the sound of weapons to more realistic decibel levels where appropriate. Thr M4 and Mousin are much louder in real life. 5. Allow for the secondary weapon slot to be another rifle. But remove the ability to carry large melee weapons like the Ax in your inventory. Zombies: 1. Increase the amount on a server by 10-20x 2. Have them spawn anywhere on a map. Indoors out in the middle of no where etc. 3. Fix pathing issues and make it such they cannot run through walls or open doors 4. Make zombies roam around and have a natural tendency to group up 5. Increase zombies aggro to sounds from gunfire. When they hear a shot from a mile away they should head that direction until either they hear another shot or see someone physically. The closer the sound the faster they should move in on it. This way everytime you fire a shot you have urgencey to get in and get out cause the zombies will descend on u from all sides. 6. Make zombies harder to kill from gunfire. Unless you headshot them it should be like 10 shots to the chest. If you shoot the legs they should crawl. Base Building and Cars: 1. Base building....imo beyond the ability to stash backpacks in hidden areas I feel base building to be silly. I do not think it is needed. Just find a remote area with decent supplies near a place of interest and hole up there. 2. Cars.....I feel cars are not needed. If you know your way around u can make it from one corner of the map in 1-2 hours. Cars will just increase griefing as geared players will just drive around starting areas or bases killing lone players. Also decreases your ability to escape larger groups. If they must be added make them realistic and deadly to the driver. Like taking them off road at extreme speeds will result in flats and damaged shocks in a matter of minutes/seconds or the car will flip. Also make it to so that one to two shots to the hood from a rifle will destory the main functionality of thr car. Having a car should be a novelty and carry as much risk as reward. 3. As opposed to base building add new interesting structures...like underground millitary bunkers. Make them high risk but high reward. Make huge underground dark creepy complexes for players to delve through. Have multiple entrances to the same complexes spread out and hidden throughout the map.Add sewers to the main cities for players and zombies to sneak through. This way some players may know a "secret road" underground but it may be infested and dangerous but may also allow you to get the jump on others. Spawning : 1. When you login you should not be able to see or be seen until you spawn. It helps server hoppers but at the same time it is better to prevent deaths to non server hoppers who were maybed timed out in a dangerous area and forced to join another server....only to find zombies or others attacking you before you can even respond. 2. Each character should be able to change servers maybe 5 times a day without a timer (not including when your kicked or a server times out). This should prove to limit server hopping better without punishing non exploiters. Rationale and reasons for my suggested changes: 1. I feel that bandits and KOSers are a necessary part of the game BUT I feel there is not enough risk from zombies which makes it easy to kill other players without a care. There needs to be a balance. Fire too many shots and find yourself being chased by 10-20 zombies. Want to loot the airfield ? Well there are 100 zombies between you and the barracks....do u really want to risk aggroing the zombies just to pick off would be contenders for the loot ? On the other hand those who are stealthy and smart can sneak through but 1 mistake could mean you have to flee from a hoard of zombies. At the same time the sniper firing and missing repeteadly from a "safe location" will soon find himself surrounded by zombies and possibly make it safer for others to loot the airfield by pulling the zombies to where he is holed up...also making it clear which tower or area he is at. Want to camp in an easy to defend area and kill all passerbys ? Well you can try it but zombies may roam right on top of you. The main idea above is to reward all players bandits and non bandits for being surgical in through execution. Take that shot but make it count. A real sniper would not fire off 5 shots and miss and then feel safe to stay in the same area and reload and continue firing. Also this gives way for better group tactics or single play tactics for example: Have your friend go to one end of the airfield or city and fire shots to draw zombies out of the area and kite them some place predetermined with a safe exit route while you sneak in and loot. Or when by yourself maybe you drop a flashlight or light a fire at one end of the airfield and then go around the zombies that are drawn to it and loot. Drop a Walkie talkie with the volume way up and turn up static so it makes a high pitched noise every 30 seconds or so and let it draw in zombies and loot etc. I feel the above types of game play would be more interesting and enjoyable then horading gear in bases and driving around GTA style grudging newbs at the beach.

    Yes thanks for the feedback. Guess it wasn't clear enough. All it is just my own list wanted to share with others and see what others thought as well. Guns are a minor things in regards to the other game play elements. The basic gist being I think people should spend a lot more time finding their ideal gun setup and provide more variety to players then just a handful of each type. Making it so a player may have to hit several places on the map to get their ideal gun setup as opposed to currently running to NWAF and having a pimped out M4 in 1-2 night runs.

    Another thought I had Doors should be destructible so that zombies and players can break them down eventually.
