No reward for the risk...not people dont want to risk kidnapping a player to toy with cause they could get killed and lose their gear in the process. Now that saline bags are better than blood bags it does not make a lot of sense when the blood itself can kill you. If anything all you need to do to torture someone is break their legs and bandage them and be on your way.

I have expierenced this and an even odder variant... Sometimes when firing an both the M4 and Mousin my friends shots will sound muffeled like they were suppressed. The noise is quoted but a little more high pitched then the normal sound...odd thing is he cannot hear it just me

Is is more like Odouls ...taste like beer kinda but no alchol. Wife is Russian had it a couple of times.

I lit up every building in gorka with chem lights and flares the other night on experimental... was like xmas tree lane

The ballistic vest should be wearable under your vest/jacket and with that you should be able to wear a shirt under your jacket other than the white undershirts we have by default

What Weapons Warrant Being Hyper-Rare and/or Regulated?
trev186 replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Rather than make them rare in an environment under martial law and crawling with military dressed zombies why not just make it cosmetic? Also hopefully they make it more difficult to acquire military items not by making them more rare but making their spawn points more dangerous... -
Poll - Why aren't people playing hardcore mode

so you think someone could unload 4 22 rounds into your chest from 10 meters and you would have the strength and capacity to turn around and kill them with 2 shots from an AKM? Also as far as mechanics currently the more gear you have on you the more damage you take....also none of our gear offers that much ballistics protection and is not all that thick So a headshot will one hit kill someone? Why the skull is actually very thick and hard to penetrate. I would think a .22 round could penetrate a vest and a jacket and lodge itself in a vital organ before it could penetrate the skull and lodge itself in the brain from close range. -
What Weapons Warrant Being Hyper-Rare and/or Regulated?
trev186 replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I think a good pattern to follow would be to break each weapon/item down into categories and then maybe having a "king" of each category that is very rare as opposed to just blocking out one class of weapon as super rare. This way you can have that "hidden gem" BUT without locking players out of one aspect of gameplay only attainable by having that gun. Then the question in my mind is how or which weapon do you choose in each category to make ultra rare? One method is by "does that realistically spawn here" but that argument does not make the gun desirable...look at the current M4 spawn issue due to the heli glitches....The AKM is comparable enough or even better in some ways. I have met a lot of people willing to toss their M4s for AKMs or MP5-Ks even though those are more common then an M4 right now. The other aspect could be like a slightly different variant of an existing gun that offers unique benefits over the more common gun ( for example higher damage or better attachment capabilities) Hopefully they do not make magazines for this ultra rare gun also ultra rare otherwise it will be useless. You could then maybe make the "ultra rare" gun a different variant of a non ultra rare gun. Stalker did this....if you played stalker you would come across variants of guns which there were only one or two of in the game and held normally by special people or hidden in special stashes. These guns offered a slight perk in some ways vs others (like a scope custom modded to fit a gun you normally could not place a scope on etc). This way now the ultra rare gun can use a common magazine from the non rare variant. Again look at the M4 vs AKM scenario the NATO ammo has become very rare in game and the best source is off other players....which at the rate we die in dayz means by the time the next patch is out there could be very few M4s and or ammo for them left in player's hands Example of a special 1 of a kinda weapon in Stalker as a rare variant: http://stalker.wikia.com/wiki/Sniper_VLA Finally there is a "coolness" factor. Choose a gun that is totally bad ass but not game breaking (maybe even not totally realistic). Again borrowing from Stalker here but the Gauss gun is a great example. It was a sniper rifle so to say but it shot electricity somehow....was fun to tinker with and supposedly exists in limited circumstances in real life...though I am not sure how realistic it is but still if it is ultra rare for the sake of being badass then who cares if it's realistic cause it is bad ass. With the Gauss gun maybe you could power it with batteries ...though the current 9 volts are pretty lame but then again they somehow power the defib Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coilgun Stalker: http://stalker.wikia.com/wiki/Gauss_gun -

Long range sure maybe but it takes 5-6 shots to the body at close-medium range with the 22 to down someone in dayz -
Poll - Why aren't people playing hardcore mode

That is fine they should have to adjust it on the scope but only if they have one.... in regards to 7... I am saying HC should not have to be FPS or 3PP mode exclusively. If you implement a HC mode it should be more around higher damage and less objects/less Hud assistance in game as opposed to the game mode. I do not consider the current "hardcore" servers as hardcore...cause they are not. People can tank 5 shots from a sporter in the back and then turn around and unload 20 AKM rounds into them before they die....This type or scenario in Battlefield is what turned me onto HC mode From there then there should be "Hardcore" servers which are either 3PP enabled or FPS mode only. Let the server admins decide. The game should be Hardcore because it is harder to survive not because your playing in First person mode...that is like saying counter strike is hardcore -
So a lot of posts pop up on how to spot a bandit I thought I would make an opposite one: 1. Run around in Capri pants 2. have a sporter without a 30 round mag 3. If you have a Hand gun don't let others see it else you are a bandit 4. Stay out in the open 5. Spend your time looting food 6. If you have a gun don't ever run around with it out & ready to defend yourself. 7. Use only the child's backpack or purple back pack 8. Don't ever shoot at people even if they fire at you 9. Stay off the coast 10. Stay out of military areas Do all that and you can fool others into thinking your not a bandit....or do it to fool others and kill them Satire aside there is no way to tell if someone is a bandit/KOSer unless they attack you on sight without warning and even if you flee or take cover and offer to negotiate they still pursue you. The game is full of people who want to kill you they come in all sizes and shapes. Your demise can come at the hands of some guy in purple canvas pants all awhile some guy in full TTSKO with an M4 may save your life. You could come across a fire fight and think the attackers are assholes when in reality the guy they are trying to kill could have been a sniper they chased who was firing upon them earlier. just because someone chooses to wear a cowboy hat and/or Military gear does not mean they are going to kill you. At the same time don't buy into the lie that this bambi you met is really going to help you. As soon as your geared you may find out you were nothing more than a disposable lookout/gear carrying mule until they could meet up with their friends or get a pack large enough to store everything. I have killed guys in check shirts & jeans at NWAF who were more aggressive then gas mask wearing marine look alikes whom I bumped into in the same area and had a decent conversation with before parting ways. The recurring theme is that if players are geared then they must be bandits & that stereotype comes from the NE part of the map. Where players gear up to then come in and try and rule Berezino over the bambis. If you play elsewhere on the map I generally find that gear has a lot less to do with it. For one in the non PVP focused areas of the map most the people I have killed have been people I hunted or those who have attempted to stalk myself. There are not a lot of campers most are on the move. What it comes down to is how you approach someone. A geared player may not want to risk all his equipment to go grief some noob in a hard hat who just ran to Vybor for their first time. On the other hand I have on a number of occasions spotted a geared player opposite a field from me and waved and received the same from them, a couple times we both shouldered our guns and discussed which areas we had looted from and let the other know if we had seen what the other needed. What makes more of a difference is how you carry yourself. Put yourself in a position where you are vulnerable when you have gear someone needs and they may kill you, Demand someone to drop their guns or fire warning shots on them when approaching someone from a flank position and they may decide to go down in a blaze of glory. I agree with the classifications and ALL Cowboy hat wearers MUST die and I am an American !

Poll - Why aren't people playing hardcore mode
trev186 replied to TimF's topic in General Discussion
I enjoy both modes but Hardcore mode isn't really "Hardcore" at all. Playing in 3rd person vs First person is like comparing Apples and Oranges....Playing in third person is not "easy mode" unless everyone your up against is forcing themselves to play in First person only. Sure sometimes one player can get the jump on the other but this still goes both ways. It also means that when approaching an area in 3rd person you must be even more careful then in FPS mode. If I know I cannot clear a corner in 3PP and there might be another player there I find an alternate approach or back off. Too many people play this game like it is a CS clone and just want to camp and not explore. This game has a huge map to encourage you to be on the move. The camping type of gameplay is ok but what people don't get is since the map is HUGE and if you cannot confirm an area is safe to loot then you can always move on to another area you know is safe. To do the above I take different strategies in both 3pp and FPS modes. To really trap and corner someone in either mode is often times totally different. Sure you can look around easier in third person but so can your opponents. 3rd person mode encourages more long range engagements in some cases. 3rd person also has it's disadvantages (blind when entering a building or tent until the camera adjusts) Also as others have mentioned in game I can clearly hear myself rummaging around. I sound as loud as an elephant but other players moving at the same pace around me barely make any noise. So the "Hardcore mode is better because you can sneak up on people" argument is flawed because you should not be able to move with that much gear on your back at a rapid pace and go unheard I enjoy "hard core" mode not because it is HC but just to have an Alternate character to play on. What I would like to see is HC mode be the following: 1. One shot you're dead or seriously injured 2. No range or hud icons anywhere on the screen (you have to account for range by aiming higher or lower not hitting page up or page down) 3. Less food 4. less equipment 5. Nothing spawns as pristine 6. more zombies 7. Have either 3PP only or FPS servers (do not force one or the other!) -
The motobike helmet provides as much protection from bullets as a ballistic helmet while also protecting you from being punched in the face. Also if you play at night it conceals the face so you have a darker profile Not a bandit just cause you wear a motobike helemt but that goes for most things I personally kill all the cowboy hat guys cause I feel they are all bandits as well

2 things NEEDED to be fixed in next update.
trev186 replied to Insane Ruffles's topic in General Discussion
For some bugs yes but some bugs more ur game unplayable and untestable so what's the point of overloading it with content til no one can even play it? Cant climb ladders without risking death Cant enter buildings without risking death Game lags out every 5 mins on expiremenal These above errors are caused by servers being overloaded with too much "new content" and thus they lag peoples positions trying to load it all for others on the server at the same time and people die or get booted. Adding more content will only frustrate the issue further. Ill agree with ur logic if they remove the leg break mechanic from the game for now. Seeing how the whole system is shit then why would they want the crap data on legs breaking ? -

trev186 replied to Insane Ruffles's topic in General Discussion
I was a Fresh spawn legs broke on a 5 man expietmental server on the coast...took me 15 min to crawl to an area where I could search for sticks and then another 10 min of tim to search for more...it was a painful 25 mins...only to then break my legs 15 min later after entering a one story building again.... -

trev186 replied to Insane Ruffles's topic in General Discussion
Better to fix bugs then fill the game with tons more content and create more and more bugs. Stablize existing contents bugs and then add addtional stuff and fix bugs caused by new stuff. Sure ignore minor bugs like clothing clipping but bugs which make the game crash or cause servers to lag and kill people when more than 20 people are on ? Look at the latest expietmental you freeze every 5 mins due to the navmesh bottleneck on the 64 bit servers and I was breaking my legs on servers with less than 10 people in them. If they keep going people will be dying on servers with less than 5 people just for entering a building. The above situation will result in no one to test their new content.. -
Were Gorka camo jackets ever implemented?

Yes green jacket is nice...but the pants are horrible. I have been trying to find a nice looking gorka jacket but have not come accross the green one. -

Yes and the whole gorka set is ugly as sin -
I have been contemplating making a robin hood type character for fun...hunt only well geared people and then dump their gear in the ocean But bows and arrows are too weak in this game and also the loot spawns are stacked against you. 1. Composite arrows are rare and mainly spawn at millitary sites..the army is not using many bows 2. The bow requires u to be a master of stealth and is only mid to short range. I get that someone should have obvious advantages over a bow when armed with an AKM or m4..but if you get a shot in either arm or their chest and the arrow is still lodged in, there is no way in hell they are going to be able to turn around and aim and shoot u. Arguably most would pass out or shit themselves from the exp alone 3. Quivers are either no longer in game or are super rare... My solution to this is: 1. Make the shafts of arrows craftable from wood and have composite shafts with broadheads available in game. 2. The wooden arrows can be crafted but do lower damage due to less penetration and also be less accurate. The broadheads should kill with a single shot to the chest & should inflict the pain debuff in the arms making it harder to fire. 3. Make a craftable quiver from leather 4. Consider adding a true compound bow for greater range with sites & a stabelizer add on As someone who grew up bow hunting this would fill me with glee
