I'd like to be able to take a scope and use that as a monocular. -
The last character I had spent around 30 hours searching for sticks and or morphine to fix a mates leg, found some morphine, ran for an hour to get back to my mate when he had logged back in just to inject it into myself... Then went on the hunt again. My current character as from Monday has in his inventory FOUR wooden sticks. Irony is a bastard.

I think things like cans need to be eaten as soon as they are opened in their entirety. If I opened a can of peaches then put it back in my pocket, I'd expect a pocket full of peach juice.

I was under the impression horses ate grass. Maybe I'm wrong.

It's a good idea, although I think if you had stuff on your back you should get injured and the axe/gun/backpack should also get damaged.
