An open community letter regarding the current state of DayZ on consoles. Hey guys/gals, first off, let me start off by saying i love the game, i love the game so much i'm spending my time writing this letter which i've never done before so hear me out. This game is less than perfect right now, the current console state is unplayable, now at first i was letting this slip hoping for a fix, it's now been 4 weeks possibly longer and the game is still unplayable, i'll list all the issue's that i'm personally aware off, but it's not just game faults and bugs thats needs fixing, it's the lack of communication with the player base, the lack of care regarding said updates, as an example look at the current patch notes for 1.05. It's not even fully released for all systems and it has known issues, this is a problem. I attempted to convey this to the facebook page, and the comment was removed by the page administration team, thus forcing me to write this letter, both Twitter and facebook are probably 70% dominated by people asking for fixes to the game. An example i was driving through Cherno at 20MPH to collect a friend on my Xbox One X, my game froze, made my car crash into the wall, and ruined my radiator, i had one in the trunk of my car but it was glitched and couldn't be moved by me or my friend after re-logging. We got lucky and found a new one, but we couldn't fill it with our Gerry can of water, because that too, wouldn't move. A full release game, which is having hard copies printed to disc, should NOT be having this amount of issues, and it should 100% not be having new updates roll out with known issues, fix them before you roll the update out, please for the sake of the game. The game currently averages less than 100 thousand players, on it's main platform (Steam) this is a direct result from lack of care and communication on said issues. Players are quitting by the droves and are begging for stability and performance updates, and instead we're told there's a DLC coming, with an animal promised during Alpha developement? Really guys? That's forgetting about all the removed functions like Fishing, and Tanning, Weapons, Vehicles? The V3S and the bus was removed but you kept the truck battery in game with zero purpose? Really? The DLC map isn't even new, it's a port from Arma 3's contact DLC. Current major issues; - Servers over 50 players suffer heavy lag problems - Client crashing - Invisible loot - Visible but uninteractable loot - Cars flipping - Inconsistant persistance - Duplication issues destroying the loot economy on public/official hives - Disease/Illness systems - Database saving issues - Vehicle headlights can't be turned on - Night Vision goggles can't be worn whilst moving - Headtorch is a red light - Weather changes drops client FPS severely - Baraka Sights don't work with battery I want this game to be popular, i want this game to be loved and enjoyed, to be a success. If it carries on like this, it will be a dead game, any new adopters are immediately turned away because of the glitches.

I don't think it has anything to do with CoD at all, that's an excuse you're giving yourself to defend the game and the state of developement, people are leaving because they're not having an enjoyable experience it's as simple as that go and look on facebook, twitter and you'll see people complain 24/7 on every single post. The only ones defending it are currently Steam users, and they just say "We told you so". And honestly, i did have more fun back then than i do now, maybe it's because there's more funcions added to the game since then that make me want to do different things other than grab a gun and shoot someone, but honestly, if half of or more of them don't work and break other area's of the game (Seriously there was one time when an update was adjusting loot spawns and they broke certain items, yeah it happened) And by disease i mean, the likes of Cholera etc. No matter what i do as a fresh spawn, within 60 minutes i'm infected, be it from drinking at a Water Well with clean gloves, to eating a tin of peaches? And it's also happened to my friends too, i've used 3 boxes of terta pills, and half a box of multi-vitamins. I'm still sick? To be fair, when talking lag, i was talking about the private Nitrado shards, which don't list Region, or ping, or actual player count by number (Why we don't have that information is unreal) it may have been the two dudes i've bumped into but on both occassions i was aiming at them and they essentially blinked (TP'd by about 2 meters with lag) and had his gun lowered, next minute i'm dead without anything happening.

Aside from you can attach them to tactical helmets, and NVG headstraps, but you can't actively slide them down. You have to stand still on the spot and hold RT/R2 to use them, and you can't move with them, kind of defeats the purpose of night vision, if you can't move using that vision. EDIT: I don't even think 0.63 had less guns, i'd argue it had more, it actually had the AuG ontop off the 22LR pistol (Which is only just being re-added as a *NEW* weapon) the majority of weapons since then have been removed, such as the bow, crossbow, IZh shotgun, AUG, .22LR, Derringer, 1911, 1911 engraved, PM33 RAKK, the revolver, The Longhorn revolver too! God DAMN i miss that thing.

Yeah, when it was in preview, i played when it was on Pc only during 0.36 too, i've been in every state of the game, but considering this is beginning to have hard copies printed and updates released to the game for the ESRB rating, these type of issues should not exist to the severity that they do. The game is playable if you live the coastal fresh spawn life, get geared, get a vehicle, get a camp. Then tell me the game is a great improvement, updates are going backwards instead of forwards, why do you think the last 2 months has resulted in a 20% player decrease? EDIT: And for the record, that decrease is for Steam, not console which are in an even worse state. Look at the official servers, tell me the population counts.

Indeed, allow me to do a quick edit. As far as i'm aware, the PSO-1 work's fine with batteries, so does the mini sights, combat sights, and RVN (at least on my xbox they do)

DayZ has been confirmed for Xbox One on at least 2 occassions that i can recall. Edit: posted before refreshing the page to see above comment.

AS the topic title says, i think it's a little convenient how i join a Vilayer hosted server - Fine, Fragnet - Fine, but the last 3 times i've joined 3 VERY different Gaming Deluxe servers, i've been whiped to a fresh spawn, this shit is FUCKING ridiculous. Anyone agrees, sign.

Yeah, so have i in the past and i fully expected this to be less of an issue by now, but since it's a very COMMON issue with what seems to only be gaming deluxe from MY experience (not talking for anyone else) but if anyone else HAS had the problem feel free to mention it, then it makes sense to have the service removed from them. But your comment was just short of ignorant, but that's none of my business.

If it was a one off instance i could understand, a second time? Okay something might be wrong, 3 times with the same provider? MAybe it's best they don't host DayZ SA servers if they can't configure them adequately.

They're public, i'm not that dumb to join a private shard when i know i don't have a private shard character, please don't assume it's my mistake when it quite clearly isn't. My friend used to own one himself, they overcharged him one month and refused to refund it so he got paypal to dispute the case and he won because it didn't match his previous bills. And i was on a PRIVATE shard the other day with a group called GRIMreapers, they said when they contacted GamingDeluxe about the issue, they said it's Bohemia's fault. And when he contacted Bohemia, they said it was Gaming Deluxe's fault, something's clearly a miss with Gaming Deluxe if it's always their servers that somehow always fail to connect to the central hive.

Grenades would be used for zombie crowd control when faced by the horde when implemented, and when outnumbered by bandits use it to either defend yourself or make a get away, and you could use them as a distraction to attract zombie/Bandits to that location while you move and loot/Escape.

I don't think we should be encouraging players to work together. As said multiple times if everyone worked together you'd just be killing zombies which would be boring, this isn't a co-op game. Let people play how the F they want to play, if they want to kill you, let them and defend yourself, don't moan because too many people aren't friendly, because that's not how the world works.

I'm not defending Hero' i'm far from one, trust me. I do my own thing, if someone is heavily geared walking around with their gun up they're not friendly so i kill them

I've had MSI afterburner and it just wouldn't do the FPS counter, even after enabling it and "Toggling" with keyboard commands so i gave up, ahwell. I'll download Shadowplay now, i normally use FRAPS for recording while it does drop FPS a little i sitll normally average 30 but the quality is waaay off when you move around

This is funny in the sense of you assumed they were bandits... And then you banditted them, doing what everyone else does - shoots before speaks.You can hide behind the guise "They would have shot me" but that's what hero's do regardless they don't care if they die, where as your first intent was to shoot them then ask the questions which if i'm not mistaken was complaining at literally 3 posts above mine, and then admitted you probably would have took them hostage, Everyone hears shots and assumes "oh it's a bandit." funny video though, what do you use to record? I use fraps at 1080p but it's not as clear when i move as yours is. Edit: How did you also get the FPS counter top left?

Hey guess what? It's a game, for one i would never bother playing anygame where if i died i'd have to wait anything over 10 minutes to play again that's a joke you think that would stop Kill on Sighting and people shooting happily? Game would be troll haven, sit on a roof/Window with a long range mosin, snipe snipe snipe, the game would be dead, boring, nobody would play it and you would NEVER encounter someone. No, this idea is stupid. Especially with all the hackers and glitchers, or had you forgotten about that?

So it wasn't server related performance then is that what you're saying,or do you think the added features where somehow the cause of the server performance in regards to rejecting client data

I use the sun for navigation to determine what direction i'm running, then when i find a location i'll know where i am and need to go off the top of my head but for the most part even in the middle of nowhere i know where i can by looking at the land formation like when the hills end and begin, how many tree's etc. There's still an odd few parts i don't know off by hear but i'll roughly know it, specially after 551 hours

After playing this now for 551 hours (The highest amount of time i have put in any game in my 23 years of living and i play games everyday so yeah) I can say that this game is a marvel, although it has it's annoying issues at times, and the hackers and the slow update speed i can and will be patient with it, why? Even when it annoys you more than anything else, 10 minutes later you're still playing it and laugh it off and forget about it. Had some amazing times so far with this game, and i'm loving every minute of it, i never played the mod as i never had any idea it existed until i saw the standalone and bought it, i've since played the mod on Arma 2, and i just can't enjoy the mod for some reason, i don't like the controls, the layout, the movement i just can't enjoy it in general, but the Standalone is another story completely, i can't get enough of this game. What are your experiences so far?

I don't really have a style, i just play how i feel like playing at the time, sometimes i'll help people other times i'll kill them for their gear haha. Depends on what mood i'm in at the time!

You're all wrong, most of these scripts don't get activated until the game is already launched, that's how 90% of the script hacks work to avoid the launcher, they just modify live data and send that in place of the original data, there's not a great deal they can do against it other than installing certain algorithms/language that VAC and stuff can detect server side and just straight up auto ban on detection.

Off topic but it's the very first time i've ever heard someone mention intel and performance in the same line haha this sucks for me... Everything i'm using atm is AMD :( still average 30 FPS in towns and 60 anywhere else though with my R9 290 after editing the cfg file though. I just wish it was 60 FPS All the time, game would be a real beauty then. I just helped someone fix their slow running problem though using information taken from this thread so cheers guys - The low FPS was the issue
