Confess your sins here - The worst thing you've d

Had a broken leg without morphine a nice survivor comes up and gives me morphine and a blood bag. As he is walking out I thank him with a crossbow bolt to the back of the head. Made me feel great! -

Forests too safe? Limit usage of matches?
Torothin replied to Xantrim's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This game is based on realism. Now the matches is one thing. But in all honesty, one could survive in the woods by hunting game and visiting fresh water lakes to their hearts content. Even then eventually a player will be forced to go collect ammo thus increasing his changes of encountering other players. I am all for implementing roaming hordes of zombies that walk. I still think zombies should only be able to walk. But hordes of zombies would add an exciting element. Say zombies follow the direction that they last see a player and then respawn once they hit the end of the map. I think it's do able... -
More experienced players reside in the North?
Torothin posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
is it safe to say that the more experienced/established players reside in the north west near NW airfield and surrounding areas? Usually if you come across someone in these parts they are geared up and established. Also, there are no questions in these parts. it's shoot first ask questions later. Thoughts? -
So as of right now this game seems to be more of a 28 days ;ater scenario as opposed to your other zombie movies. What is everyone's opinion on making zombie behavior more of "The Walk Dead" style where all they can do is walk but if they see you they keep walking in that direction leading to potential hurdes of zombies and what not. I find the current zombie behavior to be somewhat difficult and without proper weapons in a town 9 times out of 10 you will have to bandage yourself as they zig zag all over the place. What about changing the zombie behavior to walking? Heck, we could even make more of them but wouldn't this game be better with a more traditional zombie behavior approach?? The Walking Dead, Resident Evil, Shawn of the dead, all are good examples. Thoughts?

Is it just me or is Stary Sober a death trap?
Torothin posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I feel as though every time I go into this place I am either shot at or shoot at someone. I guess with it being so hilly this place is a snipers wet dream? What are your thoughts on why this town is always a hostile/bad place or is it really just me? -
In many aspects this game is A LOT like eve-online with regards to the risk/reward pvp that it offers. Overall, this is the best game that I have ever played. Truly remarkable job with this mod. You are going to make some serious cash when Arma 3 comes out....

The new "Hotfix" just ruined my game.
Torothin replied to Higgypig's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Did everyone lose their gear after the hot fix? or is it sporadic? -
I was comparing the 2 from a pvP perspective only. They are stunningly similar in that regard. if you disagree then you have no idea what you are talking about.

The reason why there are so many eve players on this game is because the risk/reward PvP aspect attracts a certain type of player to it. In all honesty Eve and dayz are really the only 2 popular games that truly offer risk/reward PvP. PvP where you get the shakes after you win. Those of you who are aware of this know what I am talking about. And this my fellow gamers is the reason why this game will be successful. This game also offers a 'this is life." mentality to it just like eve-online. In both games you feel as though you are living another life. Another very rare aspect to find in a game. Even more so in an FPS.... Discuss!

The brutal aspect of this game is what makes it so great!

If I see an opportunity to kill someone I do so.
-
If I am out and desperate for gear I will do what I need to do in order to survive. If this involves killing and looting other players then so be it. This is a game about survival and I do what I need to do in order to survive.

I have been playing this game for 2 weeks or so. Ever since the new spawn with out a gun mechanics were put into place this game is just too hard. It always seems that as soon as I get all geared up I die. The last time seemed like the final straw. I get all the equipment I need, 3 canteens, alice backpack, compas, map, knife, hatchet, matches, blood bags, ammo, and then die due to blood loss and no food. Is the general strategy to get just what you need to hunt and survive off the land then make your way inland? Discuss!
-
The first time I died due to falling off a cliff which I wasn't even close to. That time I lost NVG, a silenced m4, a silenced hand gun, GPS, compas, MAP. I'm still bitter about that but welcome the challenge of starting all over and being with everyone else!
-
I just want to clarify that this is hands down the best game that I have ever played. It just gets very frustrating when I die due to a bug IE: zombie through walls or falling off a cliff when I'm not even close to the edge when I worked hard to develop my guy. But oh well, it's alpha and I am enjoying it and thankful for what this game has to offer. Arma 3 is going to make some serious cash....

Lack of blood was caused by the lack of food spawns. Which apaprently, is going to be fixed tonight.
-
I found all that good stuff after I hit 1233 blood. I don't think I fail at the game. I thought I just ran into bad luck.
-
I'm not whining. I'm just stating that it is very hard right now. To the point where it is almost broken.
-
Well I had everything that I needed. Then a zombie hits me through a wall. I take him out with a cross bow. Then I am at 1233 blood and passing in and out. my only hope is to crawl to the woods and hope I come across something. I get outside the building a zombie approaches I fire my cuz that I looted at him and then that was all she wrote. Realistically(as real as it can get) based on the stories and most zombie moves. They should only be able to walk and not run. They are too fast and sometimes it's very easy to unload 7 shots on a single walker. I think if they implemented something where they would walk endlessly in the direction that they saw you as opposed to sprint it would make things far more interesting. Roaming herds of zombies and things like that... Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining and do not care about dying. But some of this stuff is really really hard and discouraging.

Confess your sins here - The worst thing you've d
Torothin replied to Maedis's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Last night I was being overrun by zombies must have been over 20 on me. A random comes and helps me kill them. After the zombies are dead I point my gun at him and shoot him. Looted him, he respawns and in local channel he responds with "really". Was a classic! -
Do you have a "home" server? or do you roam?
Torothin replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah NV is key. Otherwise, you are screwed. -

Our group hangs out on 1 server. We find raiders comming in from different servers every now and then but with the section of the map we control it's a death sentence. We expect activity to increase once everyone is required to run the beta patch. -
Hello, So several people and myself have been trying this game. We came from Eve-Online. We set up camp, have vehicles, established ourselves, and so on. From what I have seen this game is all about survival of the fittest and does not promote cooperation if you are a lone-wolf. However, if you play with a group of people then it does... Last night we were doing a raid and all of a sudden see head lights and 3 cars come down the road. Was a very intense moment but they just missed seeing us. We take the shoot first ask questions later approach. It is mainly due to not wanting to be gunned down first and lose my hard earned gear. Especially the NV with the way the new patch is.. Everyone takes that approach aside from the noobs. Have you guys experienced players help one another or is it that once you and them get established and geared up it really is survival of the fittest. Maybe we are biased. We come from Eve-Online which is a brutal PvP game. So we excel in these kind of games because we're used to it from a PvP/survivability point of view. What about you? What's your approach to this game once you get established? This is a truly incredible game.
