Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion
coalminer replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, that would be the end of us all for sure. Totally drag the entire game down and destroy it. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion

The minority you're talking about is 77.17% according to the poll in this very thread. -

Maybe they should, but I am not available at the moment. But it never makes sense. They should either stick to reality or invent completely fictional weapons. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion

I'd rather them at least do that than make weapons use wrong ammo. Actually most of those things you mentioned involve just copy/paste and tweak some numbers, it is not hard. -
Stairs at the Military building with the cell
coalminer replied to fiese_moep's topic in General Discussion
Sometimes you are at disadvantage, the map wasn't built in such a way so you can always have advantage over everyone else. Don't go there if you don't want to risk. Actually a camper in that position has no way of retreat so I think he is pretty much screwed. -
Ammo Calibration : Poll & Discussion

I think all ammo should be removed from the game. It has no place in DayZ. Weapons must be replaced with broomsticks and ammo with candies and small coins. Because there is no difference anyway, they're all just pixels. -
.46 coming to stable this wednesday 2 July
coalminer replied to alferret's topic in General Discussion
Nobody would, they are called 'defensive grenades' for a reason, you supposed to throw it from a defended position like a trench. Throw it and hunker down. They can be typically thrown 30-40 meters. And they don't kill at 200 m range. 200 m is what considered a safe distance, meaning you can stand in an open field unprotected 200 m away from the explosion and not get hurt. -

coalminer replied to alferret's topic in General Discussion
There are different kinds of grenades. Some of them can send fragments flying 200 meters away but the kill zone in this case would be about 15 meters. If you hit by a fragment 200 m away from the explosion it probably will just scratch you. And chances to be hit at that range are slim because they spread significantly. By the way, grenade usually makes a loud sound when activated/fuse initiated, I hope they have this in game. -
We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
coalminer replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Afraid? I've always sported proudly my bandit skin in the mod. Still don't like when certain look is forced on anyone, not just me. If there were 'bandit' clothes in the SA I would totally wear them. Currently masks are perceived as more banditty gear but they are ugly as hell and don't fit well with other gear so I don't wear them. I wish they added clothing items to recreate bandit look from the mod: tropentarn pants and jacket, flecktarn vest and tan/desert shemagh. Other colors should work too. Or at least add olive and black balaclavas/ski masks, should work as bandit outfit as well. I am pretty sure that I am not alone and many other bandits/KoSers would wear bandit outfit willingly. -
Why I kill other players (outsided of defense/necesity):
coalminer replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
Because I can and there is no reason not to. I have no use for them, even as a meat shield, people are extremely unreliable. And given the chance they would probably kill me. Chances are they against helicopters in DayZ so I want them to suffer. Or because I like the sound of guns firing. How ever you look at it, it is better to kill them when there is a chance, than to let them live. -

Ah, I see your point. But it is not my fault if they didn't bring weapons or turned their back to me. -

Look how smart you are, made something up and based your post on it. Who said anything about shooting in the back? -

I am doing what is right for me, not going to try to make you see my point because I totally understand where that's coming from, do you think you're the first person who doesn't agree with my way of life? It is ok, I accepted that long time ago. It is all about feeling it, not about reciting it to someone. What matters is inside. Also I hate cats. I have a question for you, why do you kill people in DayZ? -

But you should pick your company carefully, especially in such times as zombie apocalypse. -

Not everyone wants to have children. Some people are just broken like that. And the process of making them, I have nothing against that but it is just a brief bodily pleasure. Let's not go off the topic please. And although it is irrelevant to the topic as well, I am not 15 years old. If someone does not share your values in life it does not mean they are too young to understand, maybe they're just different. -

I wouldn't say a bandit skin was a punishment. I actually tried to kill more in the mod so I'd always sport a bandit skin. A punishment in mod and in SA is the possibility of being killed by other players. Also, I don't think that fear of punishment is what stops people from killing. For some it just feels wrong, like I wouldn't kill for fun IRL because it is just bad and not worth it, the value of human life is much more than I am willing to take, it would just make me miserable to know how much I took for nothing so it is not fun, it is the opposite of fun. The value of game life is much less and that I am willing to take from people for my own enjoyment at the same time giving them a chance to enjoy killing me. -

coalminer replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
The best thing in life is victory. And taking someone's life is the ultimate victory over them. Most of us can't or won't go around killing people IRL for various reasons so for some the next best thing is killing them in DayZ. And because it takes time and effort to gear up it is more meaningful than killing them in CoD or other games like that. -
EDITED - PETITION: Should a sound be made when we log on and off?
coalminer replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Why not elaborate, are you ashamed of something? -
EDITED - PETITION: Should a sound be made when we log on and off?
coalminer replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Not necessarily reload sound but any kind of indication that someone logs in. It happened to me at least once, I was a new spawn looting jail at the NEAF and heard reload sound. Turned around and there was a fully geared guy logging in right behind me inside of jail. I shot punched him and took all his gear. Also an indication when someone logs out could be useful. Just a few days ago I was looting NWAF, took a shot at some decently geared guy but missed and then he ran into a hangar. I approached cautiously because I knew that if I run straight in I'd probably be greeted by a bullet, so I took my time. When I finally stormed into the hangar I saw the guy in there but split second later he vanished. Had there be a logout notice I'd go straight in and killed the combat logger. Or maybe knowing that there is a logoff sound he wouldn't combat log and spared himself from being covered in eternal disgrace of combat logging. So yes, I think that log in and log out sounds should be present, they bring more good than bad. -
Armed Helicopters Are NOT Overpowered

It'd be totally fine with me if they make flying them ridiculously difficult in game. Even better this way. -
Armed Helicopters Are NOT Overpowered

Yeah, you are free to play in any style you want, that is the beauty of DayZ. You want everyone to play like you. -
Armed Helicopters Are NOT Overpowered
coalminer replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
People who say no to helis are like aliens to me. Probably from a different universe or something. It is impossible for a human being like me to comprehend how their mind work. How can you not want a helicopter? Even if it is against you, that is a lot of fun and potentially an excellent accomplishment of taking one down. -
The sun... so OTT, needs toning down.
coalminer replied to MLG420blazeit's topic in General Discussion
Wow, so many people never saw the sun irl. Where do you live guys, Saint-Petersburg? Or on another planet perhaps? Yes it does not look 100% accurate because of the godrays, but I find that the sun gives me much more trouble IRL that in DayZ. Try going outside once in a while ffs. -
Hive servers should operate under more strict parameters.
coalminer replied to MLG420blazeit's topic in General Discussion
I think it is pretty clear that people don't want to play at night, trying to force them to play in a way they don't want to is just plain stupid. Running a server that is empty 50% of the time is just a waste of electricity.
