This exact same thing happened to me and two of my buddies two days ago. DIdn't realize how common it was. We finished gearing up in a low-pop server then jumped into a full server for fun. We spawned into the house next to Air Traffic Control and NEAF and could clearly hear walking and re-loading. We had the door closed and positioned ourselves for a fight. All of a sudden the tip of a gun pops through the wall and shoots me dead. There were like six of them together! My other two team mates took a few out, but they were just running in through the walls. I guess the rule for right now is that's a sketchy spot. You better believe that I'll never log from the building again. There's really no safe way out of it.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
JerDGold replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
They've been making me bleed a lot more. -
Anyone else being lied to? Sometimes I join a server that says zero players, but when I get in it's well populated.
-
Oh for sure, I'm not saying right now. At this point, whatever BI needs to do for development is fine, I'm just saying in the final build door states ought to be persistent. Although, in a freshly rebooted server, in the final build (or now, if it's not too much trouble...;)) should have randomized door states. In the zombie apocalypse, I don't think everyone will be so careful to lock up when fleeing their homes.

I don't like to idea of re-setting doors. Why? Do doors magically close by themselves? If a door is open, it should stay open until someone comes by and closes it. There are so few mechanics in the game right now that every decision you make feels super important...including whether you leave a door open or closed.

Anyone hungry for a can of tuna or sardines?

No longer being produced. PETA destroyed Bohemia HQ. Save the dolphins. -
So I seem to have a disk-write error while patching...my initial reaction is to un-install/re-install... I'm safe doing that right? My character is stored somewhere else? I won't lose my guys?

I mean, on one hand, it seems that adding features like vehicles and camp building will keep people from sitting around and sniping, and nailing fresh spawns, I also feel that those same people will still KoS anyone that comes near their vehicle/base/loot what have you. As for consequences, I don't see how they could be any worse at this point. I mean, I don't support adding bullet tracers or sniper trails (unless realistic) in this game. I don't support damage indicators. I guess part of me tarting this thread is me not wanting to run around KoSing, but as I'm getting used to the game and gearing up quicker, I'm wanting something more to do that doesn't involve ruining peoples days. I just really think the game is awesome now, and has SO much potential. Here's hoping that the devs get it right in the end and create a game that is fun and challenging while also sticking to their guns and not turning it into an FPS.

So I never really got into playing the Mod, every time I got started as a fresh spawn, I had a really difficult time, got frustrated and switched to SA. It's def. easier to get started and gear up in SA because of the lack of Zed presence and how buggy they are. I tell you that to ask this question...what's the KoS situation in Mod servers? To more features, like cars and camps etc... lead to a slightly friendlier atmosphere? The concept that you can run into other survivors on a server and for that period of time, on that server, you will have a group of survivors "trying to make it" is what really drew me to DayZ. But I don't really get that. The only time someone is willing to not shoot me on sight is if I'm a fresh spawn. And that's fine, I'm not complaining. I get it. But what, if anything, can be added as a feature to make people feel more comfortable interacting with other survivors? And I'm NOT reccomending save games and the like.

Ya, I carry a lot of crap I don't need sometimes. I don't have an ammo box right now, so I'm carrying a ton of extra sidearm ammo because I haven't found one yet to go w/ my SKS. But I suppose if the difference is only five slots, then yes, hunting pack is best. Not sure I my pack-rat mentality could handle an improvised though ;)
-
SSIA I've seen a lot of fully geared players on youtube wearing hunting packs, but they carry less than the big mountain packs, right? Why carry a smaller pack? Just for the camo?
-
That. Even if there only 3 or 4 others, if they're smart, then they want to go to the same towns as me. Because I'm smart too.
-
For sure. If I'm at an Airfield, Police Station or other high weapon loot area, I'm either on a zero-pop server or ready to kill. Not that I want to be, but twice when in I logged into NWAF, there was someone there (even on low-pop servers) and they became un-avoidable firefights. If I want to loot those areas alone, I do it on zero-pop servers. And If I want to log into one of those places and move somewhere else, I do that in zero-pop servers as well. If I have people with me, that's different. I've found that if you're not willing to riskdeath once in awhile, the featureless Standalone stops being fun.

How to use the weapon's aim? And scope?
JerDGold replied to sabotage (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Tap right right mouse button to aim down sights. hold right mouse button to zoom view. -
Seems like every time I die and respawn, i respawn in Berezino. What's the deal? Edit: My first spawn was in Svet, but ever since then it's been Berezino. Is there a mechanic to spawn you near other players or hightraffic areas? I find it crazy that even if I'm in a low pop server (no more than 1 or 2 others) I bump into somebody.
