Absolutely nothing wrong with copying games as long as it doesn't infringe any copyright laws than its fair game. I encourage it, because the more companies that attempt a certain type of game the more likely someone will eventually create it well. DayZ is in the middle right now, it has things that work but some things in it are terrible. Traveling in DayZ is absolutely shit (for me) they need to delete Airfields and military bases so each area is worthwhile. I hope H1Z1 turns to be everything I wanted from DayZ, but who knows it might be worse.
-
I have definitely missed the point with this one but... Why would anyone want to pay for a DayZ server, when there are so many rule sets and little variables you can control? You're basically paying to put up servers for DayZ which is otherwise pretty identical to what official servers would be? Is this a case of we can't afford servers so you guys buy them for us kind of thing? Can't even make them private or passworded wtf...?

Quite suprised this thread hasn't been locked, it's not really adding anything useful to the forums besides a stupid flame war between spawn killers and non-spawn killers. As far as BIS are concerned I don't think they give a rat's ass at this stage of alpha to KOS Spawns at spawns point, hence why they have a really crap spawning system in game at the moment. As for people killing fresh spawns and generally griefing people, I think you guys are the worse of the community killing off your game, how many people have already quit this game because they can't be bothered to Run for 20+ mins, Loot, and then Die before they can even figure out where to get a gun? ps. OP's one sentence posts are very likely troll posts, and he's got the attention.
-
Nice one man, keep doing that, until everyone rage quits the game. Beans for you. DayZ no.1 in steam sales for many months = Hype. DayZ hardly ever in the top 10 most played games on steam = Alpha game mechanics: Shite.

OP: did you at any point go up to someone with a bible and talk about jesus christ and he axed you ingame?

Bambis should spawn with a 1 time use Bicycle to help with trekking.
blazed posted a topic in Suggestions
I think it would be a good idea when people spawned they get this 1 time use bicycle that looks/is inferior to the (later to be added) normal bike. So when you spawn it can start with animation of your character getting on the bike. It should boost your Sprint speed by anything of x1.5-2.0 at maximum gear. It should break down and fall a part when you get off it. Here are the positive points: 1) Will relieve some of the pain to get back to your preferred location, friends, or whatever. 2) Will still allow you go explore and physically access the landscape, just at a faster speed. 3) Bambis will be a harder target, I say most will agree that friendly bambi's should not be KOSed or Grieved. 4) No long term benefits, As soon as you get off the bike it falls apart. You cannot loot, or equip weapons. 5) Allows you to outrun Zeds when you don't have any weapon avoiding death as a fresh spawn. 6) Might stop all the stupid suicides for abusing the spawning system. 7) Would just generally make things more joyful as a fresh spawn. 8) Can fit in with the immersion or realism, your character could have picked up a bike at any time in his story. 9) Cannot be stolen and taken from, bike falls apart if user is killed/gets off. Negative points: Can't really think of any besides some people crying about how increased speed will ruin the game, or some hardcore trekking guys! (You could always get off the bike and not use it) ------------------------- Edit: Ah well, it’s apparent from the views here on the forums that this idea is bad. However if there was a poll for everyone that had bought the DayZ SA then I believe fast traveling would be in favour on that poll, no doubt. I bet it will be a very popular need for many gamers. There’s more Casual + Moderate Players than hardcore gamers, It's generally the hardcore gamers that find the most pleasure and joy in the most frustrating parts of a game. I recommend you drop this ego of hardcore, the speed of travel is not a factor of how this game is easy or hard, Getting somewhere in 5 mins as oppose to 50 minutes doesn't measure up the difficulty of the game if you are just talking about running from point A to point B, without any puzzles or game mechanics to solve. And I'm pretty sure everyone one of us (I hope) has friends that would laugh their heads off and say "yeah, I'm not getting that game" when you tell them it could take up to an hour just to meet up in game. Don't alienate all the other potential players. It won’t turn out good for you too in the end. -

Oh you're still here trolling me with the same thing, I got 150+ hours already in the game and still going, There are some elements I love about the game, and some I dislike. Keep telling all the other people they bought the wrong game, nothing but trolling in that sentence. Yeah but at the same time I think it won't be too hard either, it will be tweaked and worked on, also how vehicles will work is not completely covered either, it's also ideas bouncing around. As for spawn controls, the fact that there is debate and ideas floating around is something that mostly likely than not will be implemented and not tossed out, and you clearly do not like this idea ha. -

Well Lucky for me that vehicles and Spawn control points are all things to be implemented in this game, and I bet many more to come. As Appealing to Most is more important than appealing to some. Then the game won't be for you guys :P -

L2P. Simple as. I always hide my victims bodies after I loot him. I never ever run back to my body, Gear people are just waiting for you to do that. Please don't put words into my mouth, makes you look trashy. Edit, Oh i see what you did there completely changed the post from "getting your loot from your dead body" rant. lol. -

How does your character even appear at his location? Pulls himself out of his ass does he? Are bikes rare in the real world? Theres a bike in every street in a city. As for the bike breaking down it's a game mechanic to balance it out, can be any form or factor, "my chain has snapped" or "my wheel has burst" it doesn't need to fall apart like rubble. -

For lone wolfs this might be the case, but others want to play with their friends 30+ minutes to get back to your friends is unreasonable while a bike will reduce this time by half. and DayZ seems like a game to play with friends, Strength in numbers, just like in real life. Seriously because of the way travel and spawn works currently everyone just adjusts to whereever the spawn locations are, for example NEAF = New Bolota, Berinzino = New Elektro, People just play near spawn points, so if they die they can run back in 5-10mins, how is this any better? If anything bikes will allow more spreading out. -

Hahahah, nice one! But Speed doesnt change anything, the same people who will run to AF's will also bike it to AF's, All it means is they will get there faster, Besides AF's is a dangerous place, and mostly for server hoppers as high pops have been looted already. -

I know it's a suggestion for the future dude, vehicles and bikes will be rare, so my idea still stands. -
Lol, ok in a video game that would be funny... if you did that in real life apocalypse... then... I don't... even... know...

"We just finished a basic police uniform inspired by some combination of Russian DPS and our local Mestská policie (affectionately known as the Hicks Unit for their enthusiasm with issuing tickets to our own Brian Hicks). We’re starting to play with OMON-inspired riot police uniforms but its a bit too early to show anything. We’re also working on a GORKA-E uniform in multiple patterns and we’re hoping to pick up the pace in this department as we welcome a new full-time character artist to the team. For character art our talented artists have created a couple new player heads for more unique looking characters which we’ll add in soon. As well, we’ve made a Soviet-style officer hat and the tracksuit! Next up, we’ll look at police, EMT, and firefighters." Even at this stage of Alpha it seems there is a a lot of emphasis on Character simulation / and dress up after all! I think you will get a lot more for your female models near the release date, just don't expect too many feminine / girly things, remember the situation here, post-apocalypse, Infected Zombies, I expect women to be wearing combat gear with tied back hairs, and while we are at it give them the same underwear as the men, grey boxers and shirts for everyone!
-
I actually thought it was an American flag combo, Stars with the strips shirts, Now I think about it I find it funny the female models run around with stars on their butts and male characters have this plain grey boxers/shirt combo.
-
I +1 this... Not sure how i would feel about randomly dying because I step over something though... so much rage... quits...
-
Count yourself lucky, I would do anything for spiderman / spongebob underwear :(

Nothing really, I forgot to mention that is my favourite solution so far, It is a bit iffy as it basically renders opponents in little blotches and pixels, but yeah definately the best solution so far from all the other crap.

First of all I didn't just arrive, I was pretty much here from the start of the thread, and I have been trying to be helpful pointing out some futile and bad attempts to fix the issue, which BIS would spot right away as bad ideas. I'm sorry but the game being fair is more important than fixing your grass issues, so here's a tissue for your issue. Until someone comes up with a brilliant and fair idea (which no one has) then the game is better left as it stands now with the grass "oh dear god I can't hide in the grass when people scout me from afar" guess what nobody else can either! Work around it, Use bushes and leafy pine trees for cover then. If you really can't bare the land looking plain TURN your settings all the way MAX then and deal with the damn handicap, most serious gamers even with big rigs turn the quality of the game down to allow more FPS and smoothness in their game, they take cursor aiming very seriously, nearly every pro gamer does it, unless they see no improvment to fps. I don't mind Grass being in there, I dont mind if they remove the grass entirely, DayZ is not about grass to me. Some players expections is just way off "FORCE THEM TO UPGRADE" and "LET THE LOW SPECS SUFFER SEVERE CONSQUENCES" is just pathetic solutions to how the game works now. Here is the basic principle that every human being should be able to understand: Big Rigged PC's can compensate and revert downwards to play in a Equal field. Mid Rigged PC's cannot compensate and boost up their rendering ability. You and your friends go out to the city to walk around visit some places, one of your friends has recently broken his legs and is using crutches. Does your group A) Slow down in walking speed to compensate for the friend with crutches. or B ) screw the guy with crutches, and leave him behind. (and for the sake of arguement, let's say the friend with the crutches has pleaded to go out with you guys because he's too bored/stressed indoors.)

... Just no. Yes yes, the sky is green you win.

Oh God... Firstly what do you expect the developers to do? PC's are not Consoles, with Consoles you know what your target is, PC technology is so RAPID you have no idea where PC technology would be when you finish developing your game 2-3 years later. Crysis 1 Yes Solo Player Game, You want to Pump out all the beautiful graphics at with your monster PC go play a Solo game. Multiplayer games don't work like that, You need to be thinking about Internet Connection, FPS, Ping, Servers, Server sided calculations, differen't people coming from all different parts of the country/world to play together. So it's only natural for Graphics to be a less important as a factor as compared to General gameplay that *most* people will enjoy.
-
Um what, so you just want mid spec pc gamers to be a running around like headless chickens expecting things to pop up suddenly while you can snipe them from a distance just because you got a higher end PC? Ugh this is just another form (and an expensive one) of P2W. No thanks, Just make it a High End Spec game instead then... I have no doubt that BIS would come have with a much better solution, if not then keep the current system in place, doubt they'll take on some of these terribly suggested ideas. Unlike you BIS doesn't think from the Perpective of "I have a High end machine" so I want it to benefit me in this way... etc. You already have enough of an advantage when you running with 60 FPS vs someone who is running at 20 FPS

Wtf how is godmode even remotely close to a graphic perference? God Mod breaks the whole game and defies everything about it. If you wanted to make a reasonable comparison you could have said, its like, No one can right click zoom in, No one can adjust FOV, no one can wear Camo gear, These are all graphical things, they change the way a game works but it's still all fair because it applies to everyone. God mode made no sense here.
