Every time I spawn I do just that. I visit every building I can see. Even sheds outside. Perhaps I'm just getting very unlucky. Hrm. Thanks for the reply.

Can't tell if trolling...

Why would a worn gun be less likely to knock someone out? Just thinking an old bent up iron bar is probably as likely to KO someone as a a pristine bar...
-
It's not the worst thing in the world dropping the Mosin damage; it's a good The SKS cannot fit the LRS though so I believe there is at least some game-world balance there.

Dayz helicopter crash sites not spawning in stable?
wacktopia replied to JUSTINW1818's topic in General Discussion
I just toured a whole bunch of these (http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/dayz.gamepedia.com/f/f1/MGkDhO0.jpg) without any luck at all. Tried lots of servers and have a LRS / binoculars so I can see a distance. -

Are snipers the most harmless thing in DayZ?
wacktopia replied to bauertschi's topic in General Discussion
The most dangerous I would argue are those who hide in common loot locations with a shotgun. Pretty hard to dodge a shot gun in a building and the only skill you need is being able to click before the other person does. -

I've never died to a ranged snipe to my knowledge. Sniping a moving target at ranges over 300m is a real skill in DayZ I'd argue. It's not an easy shot and you need and LR scope and a compensator on a mosin to make it. -
Why do you say "bad luck" if they did not kill you... Perhaps it was good luck? :)

1. It is easy to log out but you are likely to get killed. So... no :) 2. Your character stays in game for a minute or so when you log out, meaning if you were in combat or being shot at you will likely be dead. 3. Not I am aware of, 4. I never would, it's almost certainly the worse option to avoid death.

My best advice is to look for people to team up with when you are a new spawn and have no gear. Get the minimal you need to survive - like a bit of food - and then go on the hunt for a friend. People will KOS for three reasons that I can think of... 1) They just like killing people 2) They fear strangers and want to kill you before you have the chance to kill them 3) They want to kill you for your equipment By approaching someone with no weapon or equipment to speak of you rule out 2 and 3. You also have less game time invested in your character so if you meet a "1" above then you can just try again quickly.

I'm trying to understand the best config for an M4A1 at range. I understand there are better ranged rifles but I wanted to ask specifically about the M4A1. From what I have read from various sources the below gives the best ranged config (i.e greatest accuracy at range) but I wanted to check. Pristine M4A1Scope: ACOGButt-stock + Grip: MP variantsATLAS deployed and laying downHold breath using right mouse I read somewhere about a suppressor reducing dispersion too - is that correct?

There is always the drop stuff, suicide and corpse-run option.... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/188855-broken-legs-in-standalone-need-help/#entry1944115

Screen is entirely black/gray - Help please
wacktopia replied to YounqGunz's topic in New Player Discussion
It's night time in those screen shots. Check the time when you join a server. -
You may or may not know that items dropped on the ground stay there until the server restarts. This gives you an option; drop your stuff, kill your character, then run to your loot. First thing you will need to do is find a way to kill yourself. The most common is to either find a zombie to hit you, find a player, or find a high place like a cliff or ladder to climb and jump off the top (yes you can climb ladders with a broken leg). It is important to drop your stuff before killing your character because you only get 10 minutes to loot your own corpse, whereas items on the ground remain for longer so long as the server does not restart. Find a hidden place like a group of trees near a land mark and take off all your stuff. Kill your character using one of the methods above. Re-spawn and then run to find your stuff hopefully before the server restarts.

Just because someone has the money to buy or rent or server it does not automatically qualify them with the experience or trust to administer or control the DayZ SA rules. Just sayin'

For a new player I would go the SKS. They are everywhere, the ammo is not too hard to find, you can fit a PU scope to it, and you can load 10 rounds without needing any kind of clip or mag. The M4 is good, the best for assault, but you really need to spend the time to travel to one of the military bases and get pristine attachments, preferably the MP / Magpul grip/butt-stock - probably the ACOG too. Reason being the M4 is very inaccurate and is especially so with the standard attachments in poor condition. If you want to snipe then drop the SKS for a MOSIN + Long Range scope (military bases). It's a fairly big pain to carry two primary weapons and last I checked (recently) there is a chance you might lose your handed weapon if trying to carry two primaries when leaving or changing servers

I have a broke leg and I'm stuck in a scaffold.
wacktopia replied to windasm's topic in New Player Discussion
I've found that sometimes rollign left/right (Q or E key by default) can cause your body to free itself or leap off the edge of something. Useful for getting up some stair cases with a broken limb also. -
FYI the splint takes up 3 slots whereas the sticks take up only 2 so it might be worth keeping the sticks separate because you can have a stack of 6 rags and/or keep them in a first aid box until needed.
-
I've found the best for me are well-timed side steps and a clout to the head repeated over. Doing this normally avoids getting hit and means not having to run anywhere, which increases your chance of getting see, shot, or attracting even more zeds.
-
I'm always wary of putting too much in shirt/pants because they seem to be the first to get ruined in a zombie fight if they land one on me or if I get shot at and live.

Looking for long range prestine scope regular

Look for ACOG > Find Long Range Look for Long Range > Find ACOG >:( -
The most common reason for doing this is if you have an incurable issue like you drink disinfectant, got a random incurable sickness, or broke a limb without a split. Drag your ass to somewhere near Berezino or Svet, dump your stuff somewhere hidden, kill yourself, re-spawn a few times until you come up close then run to your stuff. I have also once done this when I went into Svet to take on a couple of dudes. I dumped everything except for a rifle and rags then went into fight, knowing that if I died I could come back for my stuff on the edge of town. Awesome, bro! It's next to the fountain in Cherno...
