  1. Don't you think the fact dying being more "final" would just make people even worse and less likely to find out if a stranger is an asset (ie cooperation) or threat?

What dayz could have been without zombies

When the code is right for having many more zombies and even zombie herds I think many, many, many more zombies but slower easier to kill will do the trick..... its the numbers that make them dangerous, unlike currently its the fact you have to smack them 15 times with an axe! which is ridiculous, I know they're dead but they are still flesh and bone.... albeit gooey flesh

Why wont people play in the night ?

Good idea but I think the only viable light source is the head torch... although I will try the gas lamp... does it still work if you put it in your pocket? :)
  4. I think its a great experiment too. People often ask why so many douchebags in dayz? well I've always thought the answer is that the game does such a good job of immersing people in the environment that we all behave as we would in an apocalyptic world fighting over scarce resources... y'know like douchebags. The only exception to the rule is the actual real-life duchebags in this thread who seem to play dayz while taking a break from their games consoles.

Why wont people play in the night ?

I don't play at night because: 1) Light dynamics are crap! Lets not beat round the bush here. When you're in a room with a torch there should be some level of ambient light caused by reflection/refraction whichever it is.... instead your left searching entirely using the spot light of the torch.... also on close objects the spot is too focused. 2) Everyone cheats with gamma/brightness so what's the point really.
  6. Imagine you've lead a virtuous life then the last thing you remember is being chomped on by the walking recently deceased.... then its all clouds, angels and your heading for the choir invisible the wonderful bright light! only to be snatched away back to earth to inhabit your recently munched on corpse.... don't you think you'd be a little bit miffed? Next time you see a zombie give it a big ol hug cos it needs it! :-) Also one other thing, to all dayz douchebags (anyone not me). If you see me running around with my weapon raised it does not mean I want to kill you! In fact you don't even register on my radar! Try and remember we are not only living in a post apocalyptic world infested by the recently deceased intent on eating our brains, but were in the redneck outback of russia! ;-) At least say "good-day" to see if I'm friendly before doing your douchyest best to try and make my day that bit more the worse! Ta, Stryker

    Night Time

You my good chummmmmp, need a head torch! But the devs do need to sort out torches, see in real life a torch is not a narrow beam when your in a room giving a circle of light.... there is a circle of light and a general ambience of light caused by refraction and reflection... they need to test this for real and in the game cos the torch in the game just ain't fekking right, obviously so!

Why is everyone an A$$hole when playing dayz?

Seen my thread here? http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/187923-whats-the-problem-with-zombies/ I think its the way it is because that's what we are like! and DayZ is an incredibly immersive game! It beats COD down pat because it forces a "cost" to survival, such as all the effort you have to put in, thus its realistic and the apocalypse will create giant douchebags of all of us :-)

    Whats the problem with zombies?

Hey! I scream friendly in my mic in an attempt to stop dead a pointless altercation! so far it works, although most then just ask me to "off" them so they can respawn.... man thats creepy :-) Interesting point, in this post apocalyptic world, the only ones we can trust to behave true to nature is the frikkin zombies! whats with the zombies ay? :D

    Whats the problem with zombies?

Got to admit, I'm only about 30 hours of play into dayz.... I'd bet the more hours you've played the more "conditioned" you've become to being a nasty fugly ass bad-ass in-game.... again I think thats a tip of the ol cap to to dayz for being such an immersive survival game if its actually (really) stripping people of their humanity :-) next we'll be blaming it for the next cock who goes up in a bell tower and shoots random strangers in real life :)

    Whats the problem with zombies?

To be honest I think dayz is spot on, if only because its triggering this kind of behaviour from the players! Its the most involving game I've ever played... but I think we (the living ones) need to be just slightly less psychotic killer shoot on sight in order to make it a little more enjoyable :-) As for the aforementioned zombies.... as soon as the code/server can handle many more server controlled zombies I think they need to be made slow again... and to compensate add in more of them, plus then the server can implement the random chance of zombie herds forming... also they need to be easier to kill, I mean I went fist to hammer with one the other day and it took a dozen hits to kill, I almost got bored or trying! crazy.
  12. Because its bad-ass.... does noone here watch the walking dead???

Put a 9V in the walky talky

I saw one yesterday, put the battery in it, turned it on but it didn't see to do anything, no evidence it was transmitting when I tried to "use" it.
