I had massive lag issues aswell but as far as i can see it was caused by the new patch coming out, massive amount of people checking it out and causing a rather large impact on the hive. This morning when i logged in DayZ was running as smooth as normal. ( and i spawned next to a heli \o/ )

Not sure what installing Dayz does to Arma2, just install to a different folder then the original. If you are using steam then just move the folders so steam installs clean.

I've used that method before i got sixlauncher, worked fine as long as you keep everything updated. That Dwarden guy is a bit of a pain responding to a thread like that, if there isnt any good support for the various problems new players face, then yeah people will go try stuff out themselves.

Some nice answers already. Use the map found in the reply above, i use it ALWAYS. You can't spawn next to your friends, unless they move to the coast. You always respawn randomly so if you click respawn a couple of times you move to different starting places. (this is frowned upon though) Losing zombies is a bit of a learned ability, some times you just get lucky though. The mechanic isnt a 100% either so try different things. Being good at fps/stealth games doesnt do anything for you at the start, you might incorporate some of the experience in using tactics though (later, when zombies dont matter that much and enemy players do) The basic reason the guns at the start were removed was to make it truly hardcore, many people are screaming that its to hard but Rocket doesn't care, he want those people to either adapt or just go away. Basic tips. Start crouch running whenever you get close to buildings or anything that spawns zombies, dont crouch run or run on hard surfaces like gravel, roads or tarmac (you can hear when its a hard surface) you can crouch run on grass when close to zombies, experience teaches you what that distance is. Experience conquers all, the game is hard, it will most likely get even harder. At the start when you are freshly spawned go NUTS, you have nothing to lose anyway. Experiment with stuff.

No, i don't think anyone would come on to a voice server and help you install the game :) There are loads of installation guides and videos everywhere on this forum and beyond. Good luck though!

Fps is a bit of an issue in DayZ, the arma engine is a bit wonky. I can play most games on very high without a prob and DayZ can still give me a tough time. Next patch will introduce some large fps fixes. And if you are thinking of hacking then please don't be an idiot, the game is in Alpha state, we are helping test the game for free. If this mod becomes as great as it has the potential to then a perma ban would be one of the worst things that could happen to you. Also if you need to hack to have fun in DayZ then please go play something else.

Use a map like http://dayzmap.info/ When you spawn check where you are, only get once chance, the second row of white text on the lower right will tell you where you are. I wont tell you where to get the best stuff but the map will give you an advantage as it shows which buildings have better then average loot. Check the little deer stands on the map aswell, they can spawn great weapons. Learn to read the map, memorize which buildings you can go into and DayZ will become a lot more fun.

If the only reason you are playing DayZ is to shoot people that have just spawned, then Battlefield 3 might be good for you, it has more features. Also, please go to Cherno. The noobs there shoot back.

Fun that they were able to gather all that stuff, they must be bored now with nothing to do. It is your solemn duty to make sure they have a goal again, destroy it all and then gtfo. DayZ giveth, DayZ taketh away!

Use SixUpdater-> Fixed. Seriously though, if you can't handle the installation issues then you are going to love the game itself.

Wait for the next patch then mate, can't think of anything else. In an extreme experiment try installing your card in someone elses pc and do a play session. Also you say you overclocked it, try setting it to normal and then playing. Who knows...

Sounds like a new glitch, if its character based there is not a lot you can do about it except trying to connect to anything. If you get the loading bar, just step away from the computer for a while and do something else. Could take a while for the client to see there is something wrong and do something about it, if you end up in the debug forest well atleast you are in-game. Try doing a fresh DayZ install, delete the @DayZ folder in the operation arrowhead folder, deinstall Sixupdater, reinstall it and install DayZ from the launcher. For the rest i can just say keep trying to connect if you are sure your install is fine and keep an eye on the forum for any official announcement how to fix it.

If he uses Sixupdate then the beta patch will be installed trough it. You might want to consider deleting the @DayZ folder in operation arrowhead folder. Deinstalling sixupdater (it still has glitches from time to time) Reinstalling sixupdater and installing DayZ fresh from the launcher. I Don't anticipate anything going wrong after doing all that.

If you do not have a Debug window, and are invisible in 3d person? You are missing the arma 2 beta patch or it did not install properly. Manually install it from here http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php/, and follow the guide on the forum or use Sixupdater located here http://www.six-updater.net/ . The latter works like a charm, no more fiddling with dayz.

I have experienced these stutters aswell, they clear for me after a few seconds. Some basic video settings suggestions. Turn post processing effects off, its just annoying. Make your 3d resolution the same as your monitor resolution, people say it actually eats more fps then when on a lower setting. Set your video memory to DEFAULT, it uses all your available memory this way. Turning v sync off is a matter of debate, some say it really works in DayZ for upping fps, others say it doesnt. On low end machines i'd say turn it on. Next patch will have some major fps fixes for DayZ, if you still have issues after playing around with the video settings then just wait a bit for the patch.

How did you install DayZ? If you did it manually there is a whole lot that could result in a strange error like you are having. Use Sixupdater if you haven't already. Could also be outdated files, try getting all the service packs for windows. Updating Direct X, get the newest graphics driver for you graphics card. Let me know how it works out.

Not a lot of info to go on. Have you got both Arma2 and Operation Arrowhead? Have you tried deleting the @DayZ folder in your Operation Arrowhead folder, deinstalling sixupdater, reinstalling it and clicking install? What have you tried so far, did you manually do something to the files somewhere? Smore info!

Try this. 1. Get the latest driver for your graphics card. 2. Go into the steam operation arrowhead folder and delete the @DayZ map. 3. Start SixLAUNCHER not sixupdater, it should start on the DayZ bit. 4. Click install. 5. Click Launch when its done installing, don't use steam, it doesnt add all that much except more resources for the ingame overlay. 6. If you do want to use steam then make sure you have the beta patch launch command, there is a guide on the forum which can tell you what that is. Good luck! (if sixlauncher spazzes out, just reinstall it, works fine after.

I agree, use sixlauncher. It sounds like an installation issue. If you do decide to do it manually (dont know why you would) 1. @Dayz map off the latest version needs to be in the operation arrowhead folder. 2. You need the latest Arma2 beta patch from http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php/, installation guide can be found on the forum here. 3. If you are using steam it needs a launch command, check the other installation guide on how to get that working. 4. DayZ is tricky to install, don't give up! The game is awesome! (but seriously use sixlauncher, it fixes all the little errors you might have made)

Do this, connect to Canada 2. When you spawn there, for some reason the server will port you closer to the edge of the map. When you spawn just run in the direction you're facing, should see a house after a couple minutes running. I got out with this method, try it.

Having a full set of survival gear, A4A3 CCO and the m24 in my pack, run towards an air control tower ladder. I hear i agro some zombies, climb up the ladder. Zombie meets me at the top and pushes me off. Splat.

You dont need to fork over 30$, you can use the free version of Arma 2 but you will have to buy operation arrowhead. For the rest just try it, the game is in an alpha state but everything works great. No need to go all market research on it.
