    so much for the struggle

I think its funny that the minority masochist DayZ player base thinks only their opinions matter. Newsflash: A game doesn't have to be super hardcore to be a work of art. Last patch, my 4/5 characters starved, even when joining multitudes of servers and searching the middle of the map. Picking apples and berries is also extremely stupid and a gigantic waste of time. If you think that makes a good game, then I am glad you are in the minority.

  4. Hey, I decided to get back into the mod, but DayZ Launcher isn't really showing the populations of the servers. I was wondering if you guys knew any good US based populated servers out there.
  5. Does anyone know any populated Namalsk servers? That was my favorite map and I don't see any around anymore.

    Small Chernarus

The map is definantly not the biggest and greatest of any game, not even close. Fanboy detected.

    so much for the struggle

It is because the majority of the community did not want that loot patch. I want loot to be rare, but not in that way, that way is terrible. When 4/5 of your characters starve to death, something is wrong. I went back to Vanilla Dayz mod because of it. When loot becomes rare and the system smart, it will be fun. The last loot system was dumb. I would prefer mass loot over that.
  8. 4 characters this weekend, from Friday till today. All starved to death. Found 3 cans of food, satiated one of them for 1o minutes. It takes about 30 min to starve to death with no food, and thats just jogging around town. No hoes or fertilizer to plant, no loot for fishing hooks, I checked all the usual and unusual places across 7 towns, in land, on my "adventure." Absolutely no useful survivor loot to collect food, and I do know what I am doing. Picking berries and apples is not enough, hunger and thirst go faster than you pick. Not only that, but zombies suddenly turn into ninja-knights who make no sound and can't be dodged. Forget fighting them in melee without taking 5+ hits, its impossible. I am fine with loot being rare, but there definitely needs to be an overhaul on hunger/thirst mechanics for it to work. Starving in 30 minutes is ridiculous, it should take at the very least 2 1/2 hours to starve, and I would go as far to suggest 3 1/2 or 4. Zombies get more broken with every patch, and I do not understand what the developers are trying to accomplish. If you are trying to make hordes, then why they hell is 1 or 2 zombies able to ruin your day? Quite literally, as you either stop and fight, getting your clothes ruined, or you run a 5k marathon and end up starving to death. I feel like the game is getting further and further away from its original goal. Its supposed to be a "realistic" survival experience, not a die in 30 minutes because of starvation and broken zombies experience. I realize the hunger mechanic will be fixed, but what about zombies? Are they experimenting with zombies? If so, whats the point? The end goal is hordes of zombies, yet instead of hordes they get fewer and fewer while stronger and stronger, turning into ninja juggernauts. Im not harping on the game, I just want to know, because it has me worried. So many people on these forums are fan boys that want ultra-hard mode 5000, and don't even care about realism. All 9 of my friends who play DayZ have stopped playing because of the zombies and hunger. Every single one. Most of them, like me, have stuck with DayZ since the beginning. I really hope these things are just tests, because if they aren't like most of the fan-boys want them to be, DayZ will be ruined for me and over half the player base.

For Everyone Complaining About The Loot........

Half the servers are entirely picked clean of loot. My first character did fine this patch... Until he encountered the ninja zombies. After that, every server I started on was picked clean of everything even remotely useful. I hopped multiple servers in last ditch attempts to save my characters. Those were picked clean too.

Armored, silent, ninja, stealth zombies + no loot = win?I

Sorry, I got you an Gordo confused. It would be awesome if food filled you up atleast 3x the rate it does now. I wouldn't have a problem with the 30 minute starvation mechanic if that was the case. It's just that now, I eat 2 full cans of beans, and am back to extremely hungry in 2 minutes. A meal, at the very least, should satiate your character for 40 minutes be for he starts starving again.I still think it would be nice to have 40 minute 24 hour days in DayZ. If that happens, then a character shouldn't starve for atleast a day.

There were no "hypothetical" situations. I would have not posted this topic if all of it was hypothetical. This comes from experience as well as multiple others who I have talken too. Besides, this topic isn't mainly about the broken loot and hunger mechanics, its about the zombies. As I stated before, Zombies are supposed to get more numerous but easier to kill, making them a huge threat because they have numbers. Instead, they have been continually getting stronger, faster, and tougher. If these zombies were to be implemented into real hordes, they would be way OP, and nobody short of an army would be able to even survive them. Also, "placeholder" isn't the right term. That suggests that everything is going to be replaced, but that's not the case. Everything is subject to change.

The rate at which you starve is not "fine." You can either have food be rare with a more realistic starvation mechanic, or you can keep the same system but have a lot more food. Like I said, I have played numerous characters across numerous hives. I played all the way inland, and I still found nothing that could help me get food. I found a can of food about every 10 minutes of searching, which helps nothing because food barely fills you. I found no hoes, no fertilizer, nothing to make a fishing pole, no guns to hunt with. Berry/apple picking is a gigantic waste of time and even if you do manage to fill up on them, you'll be starving again within 40 minutes. If you think this is "crying" then you have no clue what you are talking about. Sometimes people manage to land on a server that hasn't been picked clean yet. That is not the case for the vast majority, who constantly land on servers where even remote towns are picked clean of any good loot. Finally, all features are not "placeholders." If that was the case, then no progress would have been made at all towards the game. Each feature implemented has a very good chance of making it to the final game, even if they aren't good, if people don't voice their opinions and criticize them. The bias this forum has towards the game is abundantly clear. People here were basically stating, "This loot system is best working on yet! Everyone who doesn't agree is a CoD player who shouldn't be playing this game." The devs then stated that the central loot economy and loot system was broken. Ironically, forumnators are still defending the broken system. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't make them "crybabies."

Newsflash: It being alpha does not mean we can't criticize and discuss features we do not like. So what if we don't like the game in its current state? You are being just as arrogant as the other apologists/fanboys. What would the game be like if everyone like you made excuses and didn't tell the devs the problems they were experiencing? The point of alpha is to TEST each new update and post Pro's/Con's and report any broken mechanic/glitches/bugs. The only pro of this update is that loot is much more rare, but the loot system is completely broken, and combined with the fact that your character starves in 30 minutes without food, >70% of people are unhappy with this update. Not posting your gripes with the game is counter-intuitive to the whole process. Its not like I posted a cliche post, I brought up problems that very few to no people have brought up, including how hunger mechanics need to be drastically changed.

I mean a full 24 hours in DayZ should be 40 minutes. In real life, food wouldn't be a problem unless you're providing for a community. The only case where food would be extremely hard to find is if it were "The Road" scenario, where nukes hit and ash kills 99% of chances to get food. In the woods, I can make a very basic fish trap in half an hour and have a full meal by the hour. You can even make an effective fishing pole with a stick, shoelaces and a paper clip. The game shouldn't be about finding food all the time, though I do agree canned/man made edibles should be rare. Either food needs to be much more filling, or my suggestion should take place to make it more fun and realistic. Our characters do not live in Africa, but a heavily forested region. Water and food wouldn't be hard to come by.

Armored, silent, ninja, stealth zombies + no loot = win?I

That's good, but many people insult and call those people who don't want uber hard mechanics, "Call of Duty" players. It's annoying. The majority of people want realism. I know I want day/night cycle to be universal, with every single Public Hive being the same time so people don't hop servers just because it turned night. Once that's done, your character should be able to survive without water for 3 in-game days, and a week or 6 in-game days without food.

Armored, silent, ninja, stealth zombies + no loot = win?I

People like you always say that, but it is in no way true because all of the people I have played with either don't play CoD or don't like it. Only the squeekers on DayZ are consistent with that remark. This is the problem with this forum. The people here are in the minority, yet if you have a different opinion it doesn't matter because we aren't "dedicated" like you are. News flash: people bought the game because it is supposed to be realistic survival. Most people complaining have either been here since mod or beginning of SA. I was here since the beginning of Mod, so I'll be damned if I think my opinion matters.
  17. Insane Ruffles

    I don't understand

There are many "Forum people" who want nothing but a hardcore game. It's now gotten to the point where realism is thrown out the window. These elitists think only their opinion matters, even when it's in the minority. Most players want the game to be realistic. This product right now is not realistic by any means what so ever.

New update broken? I'll try to be constructive

I totally agree 100% with what you are saying. Rare stuff is fine, as long as food actually does something. I go through a week of supplies in one hour. A can of food and a bottle of water should be enough to satiate your character for an hour.

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

Actually, every body that I have talked too thinks the loot system is broken, because it is. Some servers have no loot while others have a ton, and the loot bomb is still happening. Also, loot is more random now, which isn't fun. While I definitely agree that loot should be more rare, 90% random loot ruins the immersion. When I go to a military base I shouldn't find a potato and a broom, but maybe and empty mag and an attachment. The problem is that loot is scooped up within the first day, and no new loot spawns for several days. If I search an entire town, i shouldn't find just a damaged rain coat and shoes. Even with an apocalypse, loot wouldn't be that rare.

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

The point is that it isn't about realism. DayZ is about as far away from real as it gets when it comes to atmosphere. The point is this ruins the game. What's the point of having military buildings, or any special building at all? If DayZ lives up to its name and it becomes difficult, where the hell am I going to go when I need something? If any type of lootable item is needed, you're screwed because it could be literally anywhere. If I go to a hospital, I should find hospital supplies. If I go to a base, I should find military supplies. That's how logic works. If it was realistic, we would be spawning Inland instead of the coast, and hospitals and bases would be filled with loot. Have any of you seen the stuff in a base or hospital? Real bases have entire armories that can arm a small army. Then consider the fact that there was a large military presence. Even after years, guns would be a common sight.

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

Except for it's a "dumb" system. Forget anything rare, it could spawn anywhere. There's no risk vs. reward anymore, it's just luck. If I want to try my hand at luck, I'll go play the slots, not waste my time on some unnecessary gimmick.

Interesting, your profile says "Freethink" yet you have demonstrated that you clearly don't think. Instead of insulting, maybe you could have provided conjecture, like the guy before you. Wait. You're too much of a moron to comprehend what discussion means.

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

Honestly, anyone who thinks this system is good is insane, because it isn't logical. It doesn't even begin to make sense. As someone said before, it is 100% luck. I will not play the game again until the loot system is set back to the "smart" system, and the "dumb" system is removed. Less loot is good, random loot is terrible. Best wait for the next patch.

the reaction to mass amounts of zeds worry me

Well, if you had actually read about the problems H1Z1 is having, then this topic wouldn't be necessary. The H1Z1 community has always wanted more zombies, but the system right now spawns endless amounts of them out of thin air. You can't defeat them because as soon as you kill one, another spawns in the same location and comes right after you. You can never make the place safe, because x amount of zombies you kill are x amount of zombies that respawn in the same location with in seconds. It's exactly like CoD Zombies, except zombies spawn right on top of you and there are no "rounds." The problem is not the people, it's the mechanics. Adding current state zombies in Dayz to hordes would be game breaking. You cannot hide from them, you cannot combat a horde without a crap load of ammo, and it takes a long run to get them to finally stop. Melee wouldn't work either because you have to constantly circle around tightly. The zombies need an overhaul before hordes are implemented.
