    Clothing box in inventory

I don't like the idea of looting clothes off of dead people. torn, full of bullet holes, soaked in blood - just take them off and wear them yourself, good as new and fits perfectly! it doesn't seem right
  2. What enaver says sums it up: hiding stuff inside the map is borderline impossible once you get more than one tent up, so players are responding by going literally miles outside of the game world. It goes to show that there's a problem with saving items and vehicles, and simply banning people from using the border regions isn't going to solve it.

    What is a Carebear?

the kind of people who take garry's mod roleplaying seriously, want game-breaking realism, and are scared of conflict and other players I'm also tired of people like selb and virfortis managing to miss the point so hard while stupidly vilifying a group that doesn't even exist. the key characteristic of a 'carebear' is someone who wants to play the game in a way that makes no sense considering the gameplay. They don't get DayZ as an actual game, and have unrealistic expectations. Whatever you want to say about bandits, they're simply playing the game to an end that makes sense. Someone who finds a way to cooperate with other players is also being sensible. But expecting everyone to be nice, getting mad at supposed "cod kiddies" for not acting like they're in a REAL zombie apocalypse, and roleplaying to the point of having to take an in-game shit at least twice a day (have to loot toilet paper first!) is missing the point of dayZ as a game
  4. I was talking to antvan you mong. Do you even read threads before posting in them?

    3rd Base in 1 week

    sick burn brosef
  6. It means you'll be able to hide something pretty much forever, which is fine if: you can't hide a lot of stuff in one hole it actually takes time to dig a hole and dig up your stuff you have to keep your stuff in something, like a bag or whatever (something tells me burying a gun underground for days isn't going to do it much good)

Yes, I'm sure that the reason your extremely buggy vehicles are disappearing from this unstable alpha is down to server admins abusing powers they don't have next up: players who survive getting shot because of lag are hackers
  8. more roleplaying and armchair psychology babble. spare us

    Message to the Sounddesigner!

Didn't expect other people to feel about this so strongly too yes it's fucking disgusting and I turn down my sound whenever I eat.
  10. the problem is that if you don't make it completely 0/0/0 pitch black, it's easy to use gamma/brightness correction (through the in-game settings or not) to make everything easily visible
  11. why shouldn't you be able to? there's nothing unrealistic about being able to hide something away in a 225 square kilometer area of mostly wilderness, and it doesn't hurt gameplay either. Loot is infinite, and you can only get to your tent by going all the way to where you've hidden it. There's nothing easy or game-breaking about it. hiding an entire arsenal under a tree is one thing, but having a small tent hidden away well enough for it to not be found with some basic supplies and gear in it is fine

    Solution for Excessive Murder

your ideas are as idiotic as your armchair psychology. never work in the gaming industry
  13. you only make a game realistic to the point that it's still good and functional when I'm forced to play in pitch black darkness I just DC. It's another case of a game trying so hard to be realistic it's neither playable nor actually realistic in the first place
  14. yes because it's possible to respawn, the way people interact is going to be completely different than if they had one life, and you need to balance that out by introducing some kind of mechanic that lets you guess at a player's intentions by looking at them.
  15. I see I'm going to spend a lot of time on this forum posting the same thing over and over again if I want to get my point across, aren't I When I say "make it reasonably safe to hide your gear" I'm not saying "make it so people can hide their stuff easily forever". Notice how those two sentences are different? Try reading my fucking post and don't waste more space in this thread
  16. ponyfa...n missing the point, surprise surprise because it's possible to respawn, the way people interact is going to be completely different than if they had one life, and you need to balance that out by introducing some kind of mechanic that lets you guess at a player's intentions by looking at them.
  17. this exploit fixes a problem: Setting up tents is dangerous, because people are likely to find them. Players feel like there's nowhere to hide their stuff knowing it probably won't get stolen. It doesn't feel fair, and people have found a way to deal with it by hiding their shit out of the map if you simply remove the exploit without changing the way tents work, then you've kept the problem and taken away the only solution. Make tents more usable, harder to find, harder to spot, whatever, just make them a reasonably safe place to put your gear IF you've hidden them well enough

    The Ban TS3 thread!

with ideas as shit as this it's nice that rocket is in charge
  19. initially you should be able to look near someone and hear the sound, and after a few seconds it goes back to having to look directly at them, with all the other mechanics of sound decreasing over distance and whatever staying the same
  20. Of course it's an exploit. The area outside the map is intended to be there so you don't suddenly run into the end of the world. It's not there to be entered or interacted with. It's empty, dead space that's nothing more than scenery for the main map. A tent camp that can't reasonably be found in a completely safe, dead area is completely missing the point of the game. The only reason why people are for this is because actually hiding tents and vehicles in the actual playable area is too hard. I spent two hours once roaming a single area looking for a place for some tents with a friend. Eventually we found the perfect spot: wall of bushes and trees on one side, a small hill blocking the view on the other. It was near nothing important, away from roads.. and a day later it got found accidentally by another friend running in a straight line between two distant places. imagine how I feel when I hear on teamspeak "wow I found a tent with three m1014s in it!" "wait, that's your tent." Tents are too easy to see, and the map isn't big enough for them to stay hidden for long. People will be fine with removing the bullshit of hiding stuff in the 'skybox', if they can reasonably put a tent down somewhere on the map. Maybe add more ways to actually make a tent hard to spot? They're just too obvious
