A simple set of zombie changes to make DayZ what we've all wanted it to be
Blay Wayne posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
DayZ was always supposed to be about co-operation vs betrayal. You can work together to get things done, but you can also kill each other for personal gain or survival. It's a nice concept. Too bad it never worked: there really is nothing that you MUST co-operate for. Everyone's a bandit because zombies and survival aren't a problem. There's a very simple way to fix this, without forcing anything arbitrary or unrealistic on players: Simply put, these are the changes: 1: Make zombies an actual threat. They sprint faster than you and you can get mobbed, so they can kill you if you get too close. 2: Stop them from de-spawning when you abort. Players have no choice but to deal with them 3: Give them a respawn timer. Clear out an area, and it's free of zombies for 10, 20 minutes. Kill zombies, and you'll be free to loot in peace. 4: While they sprint faster than you, they run slower. Stay far away and you're safe. 5 (possible): make lone zombies do less damage and not make you bleed, so you can escape from them. Mobs can catch you and severely injure you, though. Alternative: let players spawn with a makarov again. If people aren't murdering each other non-stop, then this isn't a problem. These very simple changes would radically change the whole gameplay of DayZ. Zombies right now are no threat. They don't stop you from looting an area. At the moment, you can go where you want and you'll always be safe. But, if zombies are actually a problem and you MUST kill them to loot an area, then one player alone can't loot a town infested with 40 zombies. You NEED co-operation to do that. So players can work together to loot areas that they couldn't on their own. This makes players WANT to work together. Voila, you've just improved the game tenfold. Please, please consider implementing this. It's so straightforward. It's how zombies should have worked in the first place. -
An extremely simple and permanent fix to debug plains/forest

An extremely simple and permanent fix to debug plains/forest
Blay Wayne posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
so apparently it's just THAT hard to fix debug plains spawning. ok, fair enough but hey wait wouldn't it be incredibly simple to fix any case of it actually happening? it's simple: a player logs in the game checks if the player is inside the map borders if not, the player spawns at the border of the map, relatively to where he got debugd SO LETS SAY YOU GET DEBUG PLAINED 5 KM WEST OF THE MAP YOU SPAWN ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE MAP INSTEAD THE GAME DOESNT ALLOW SPAWNING OUTSIDE THE MAP BEST IDEA PLS UPVOTE ty -
DayZ is the first game I've ever seen ruined by hackers

It's like you didn't read what I just posted at all. Well, you are a furry. I'll make sure we don't play on UK8 at least -
DayZ is the first game I've ever seen ruined by hackers

For the record, I'm 21 years old and a veteran PC/fps gamer. To the Rocket Apologists, go fuck yourself. nobody cares that it's an alpha. I'm not going to format my feedback in whatever saccharine way you demand. And yes, I AM going to whine, because it IS an alpha, and it IS broken, and there are so many things to whine about. It's called honest feedback. Much more valuable to developers than endless threads of "omg best game ever" and pussyfooting around real issues Rocket is not developing battleeye. The widespread hacking is a part of arma 2, not DayZ itself. The fact that somebody has decided to call DayZ an "alpha" (an alpha that has by now filled BI's coffers quite nicely, I'm sure) doesn't make DayZ any more or less susceptible to hacking. an "alpha" mod is susceptible to exploits and glitches. not hackers. Don't make me explain the difference, google it. And simply because YOU have only run into X hackers in Y time playing doesn't mean shit. Browse reddit and 4chan's /vg/ and it quickly becomes painfully obvious how widespread hacking is in DayZ now. It's not the kind of hacking done by a few clever programmers, it's the kind of widespread download-a-file script kiddy bullshit. once again the butthurt dayz forum force comes in to defend DayZ with cries of ITS AN ALPHA, as if I'm mortally threatening their game and their land -
DayZ is the first game I've ever seen ruined by hackers
Blay Wayne posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's completely out of control. First there's debug plains, servers deleting my progress, bugs, and glitches, but now there's immortal teleporting hackers too DayZ can't handle hackers. Any other game, the worst that happens is you lose a round, or your KD ratio goes down. in DayZ, you lose hours of playing, all your gear, your camp, everything. I've died three times in the last week to hackers, and I've seen countless more -people who die to 'friendly fire' and come back where they died every time with the same gear. I've killed the same guy once four times in 5 minutes, each time with an instantly disappearing corpse, no murder, and him coming back less than a minute later -immortal players who can take any amount of fire, and then suddenly instantly kill me 5 seconds later. on a clean, low-ping, no desync server. It might sound like a lag/server issue, but it's different. They don't just freeze up or lag out, they just keep smoothly moving and looking around like normal while I put half an m240 mag in them, and then just shoot me once and I die. -players teleporting, not even server hopping, but outright instantly teleporting around -artillery fire on cities, aircraft carriers in cities, jets, helicopters flying around I've never been one to cry about hackers in FPS games because they're something you can ignore and move on, but in DayZ it's starting to become a HUGE issue. -
Each update character reset why?
Blay Wayne replied to kyle939's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The people replying to this thread are absolute shitters head up rocket's ass, justify anything with ITS AN ALPHA and sit back wait for it to be fixed, because presumably a public alpha needs no feedback outright fucking retards. -
Why the core userbase of this forum sucks.

This guy right here' date=' stupid anime avatar and all, is exactly it: Even though DayZ is an alpha undergoing public testing, he says everyone should just stop complaining already. Be NICE to DayZ! no mean criticisms please! well, no, it IS an alpha, it IS broken, and people WILL complain about it. And they should. They really, really should. The first sign that a game's community is in decline is that it can't tolerate criticism and negativity. (see the Bioware forums for an excellent example) [/quote'] Sorry you are too young to know WTF Mega Man is...go listen to your Lil' Wayne mixtapes chav. "MOM, ITS NOT CARTOONS, ITS ANIME, GOD" This guy right here' date=' stupid anime avatar and all, is exactly it: Even though DayZ is an alpha undergoing public testing, he says everyone should just stop complaining already. The first sign that a game's community is in decline is that it can't tolerate criticism and negativity. (see the Bioware forums for an excellent example) [/quote'] i agree with you to an extent. however i strongly disagree that they should complain. they should certainly provide constructive feedback on anything that is bugged or broken, and continue to help evaluate the build and see if any changes in playstyle/tactics overcome any bugs. i think the reason the core userbase is less palatable than it could be is the general level of hostility and emotional posts made on both sides. These kind of hyper-sterile, 'be nice please!' discussions go nowhere. You're stifling actual feedback by demanding it be nice enough for you to accept it. -

Zombies were broken: suddenly they could hear and see from a mile away. People went to the forums to complain. the forums reply: "Just learn to sneak" "I love the new zombie changes! thanks, rocket!" food and drink spawning was bugged. It became impossible to find food and drink. Again, people complained. you reply: "I think this is much more realistic and enjoyable. don't you even have water bottles? just hunt some animals" "This is a zombie apocalypse, pal. you think there's supplies everywhere?" Barbed wire fencing and tank traps spawned everywhere and filled every possible building, blocking off loot and being a complete pain, while being nearly impossible to remove. People complained. the forums reply: "why are you crying you can't get to your precious loot? just look around more" "don't you even have a toolbox? Are you that impatient?" Is it becoming clear what I'm getting at yet? For the kind of people I'm talking about above, probably not, so let me spell it out: DayZ is flawed and fucked up in many, many ways, and even new changes made by Rocket can be (are usually) wrong or bad. Stop falsely justifying absolutely everything wrong with the game because of a blind, insidious love for Rocket and DayZ You collectively lack the ability to say "no, that actually is fucked up." The latest patch once again demonstrates this: the L85 is removed, and suddenly the forum is full of posts about how it never should have been in the game anyway, how people are just crying about their OP gun, how it doesn't fit DayZ, and a dozen other bullshit justifications. Honestly, this userbase is doing everything it can to stifle any kind of proper discussion about the game with its sheer stupidity and blind loyalty.

DayZ - why it differs from other games? (private servers?)
Blay Wayne replied to jani.ehro@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You are missing the point of DayZ. What you're doing is actively ruining what DayZ is about. -
Do you even play this game? When you shoot someone in real life, you actually wound them. arma 2 doesn't go any further than a pathetic amount of blood coming out of some random body part. This is a game This is a game it's _a game_ there are limits to what it can realistically depict. There is no feedback when shooting someone in arma 2. There is no wounding whatsoever. There's no proper blood. There is no actual visual indication that you killed someone. arma 2 utterly fails at realism when it comes to this. It doesn't even attempt to let you know what kind of harm your shot caused. and, once again, because it's a game, it has to TELL us we got the kill. It is a compromise. It is a much better solution than pretending arma 2 is the pinnacle of realism. The irony of arma 2's community constantly wanting to cripple any kind of actual realism for the sake of realism is absurd Please stop posting. Nobody kills for the sake of their kill counter. What in the actual fuck am I reading. Why am I even on this forum. A bunch of cretins trying to make the game their perfect role-playing simulator, nothing more

i persoanlly would love to see third person removed entirely

UK5 - Butthurt Admins?
Blay Wayne replied to finray@live.co.uk's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Well, I was only calling it suspicious, one random incident is of course not going to mean anything on the other hand, if our post was just one of many strange things happening on UK5.. it's a nice server. it's been our home server for a while now. keep it up and for god's sake don't ruin it by turning off 3DP like the last one did
