He was a medic who helped patch up one of the guys who shot him after his unit tracked them down and gave a few of them a lead bodywash. If I can find it I'll try to post the picture of the giant bruise on his chest from the plate. -

I hang out with mostly shooters so rds' s and quality optics probably seem more common to me. I generally run dots on whatever I can due to crappy eyesight. Commonality of optics in a fictional setting is gonna be just guesswork. I'd llove to recreate some of my guns in the game but I dont think they'll go that far and I'm ok with that -

And if you had canted sights on the weapon would the round "lob" in a different direction needing you to adjust down and to the right? Thats what I was addressing. also being an expert marksmen means exactly nothing when it comes to knowing ballistics. how far will a 55gr bullet travel before gravity overcomes inertia? And yes your aiming slightly upwards. I figured that was a given. Learning the fundamentals of shooting in the military do not a competent shooter make. Being in the military you should know that. -
I found myself a wonderful blaze painted green and decided to shoot some day z skeet. It took killing 3 people who didn't want to skeet with me til I found a hardy and willing volunteer. I offered him any of the multiple weapons sitting on top of the tec building in svetlo if he could make a short run down the street with me taking my 2 blaze shots at him. I would only take 2 shots and if he survived I would gear him up. He seemed game and started stripping off the gear he had to make the run when some "Hero" snuck up on me and shot me in the back of the head with a shotgun. I was very sad and now I can't find a blaze to get a rousing game of day z skeet going again :<

No...The bullet goes where the barrel is pointed until gravity takes effect. -

No they exit the barrel straight. How in the hell would you get it to hop upwards? -
I'm honestly not a fan of any stockless rifle. However a shotgun is a shotgun and if you get hit with buckshot the velocity doesn't change much no matter how short you make the barrel(you get full powder burn in about 9 inches). Honestly the spread of the shotshells doesn't change that much either until you get to about a 6 inch barrel(I really can't tell how short that sawed off is supposed to be) but even with a 6 inch barrel you can get about 80% of your shot on target at 25 meters. For standard buckshot that's 8 to 9 pellets traveling at over 850fps. The equivalent of being shot with a .38 6 or 7 times. As far as the large gaping holes that being hit with a shotgun leave's that's mostly hollywood.

The offset.canted iron sights are retarded. Let me remind you all of real-life bullet physics: The bullet travels in a relatively flat parabola, first traveling upwards (requiring you to aim lower at moderate ranges) then progressively further down as the bullet loses inertia (requiring you to aim higher and higher). Because bullets are lobbed, when you turn your rifle to use canted iron sights (or gas masks as illustrated in the field manual), you have to adjust fire. If you turn counter-clockwise (for all the righty shooters) you have to adjust your sight picture down and to the right of your target in order to hit it. Most of that is incorrect. Bullets dont travel upwards. Canted sight dont need you to adjust down and right. Also there are multiple companies that produce return to zero mounts and quite a few of them are in the field. They are however not seen by green zone rangers alot. -
I think part of the problem is what level of knowledge the devs have of firearms vs what a few of us know. I'll admit I'm a big gun nerd and that affects how I view things. I would like to have super realism with guns in the game but I honestly wont be all butthurt if they get things wrong.

Your gun can malfunction after 1 round. And if you think a failure to feed or double feed has anything to do with the rifle your knowledge of the AR is lacking.

Im not sure this would occur enough in game for it be worth the effort or time. I'm super into authenticity but you would need a continuous string of 200 to 300 rds. How often does that happen in game? I would rather see multiple types of malfuntions such as fail to feed, double feed, and type ate malfunctions.

Also keep in mind that people ascribe different values to their characters and crap ingame. I think the only time ive been butthurt about dying ingame was due to glitches. If I've somehow become fully geared its time to pick a fight I probably cant win. I personally don't understand people who get actually upset about getting killed in a game.
