Build 1.7.1 Rolling Update
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I like everything in this update, aside from the zombies. Way too OP, and I hope this is fixed in the next update. -
female zombies, friendly anims and more
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to doom4mr's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
1) Female zombies - Don't see how this would be hard to implement, would be a nice addition. 2) Raise hand animation - The salute animation is already in game, not really any need for another animation. 3) Kick zombie/hand combat - Would be nice to see some form of melee combat in the game, however this would have to be implemented once the zombie AI is working to a good enough standard. 4) Military knife - Again, would be a nice addition, but Rocket would have to find a way to effectively implement melee combat. 5) Barricades - Barricades already exist in the game, in the form of sandbags and wire fencing kits. However, these can glitch and allow zombies through, this is an AI problem, not a problem with the barricades themselves. 6) Fill water bottle with rain - In reality this would be extremely impractical, and it wouldn't be likely that you would be able to fill the water bottle before the rainstorm is over. However, a water butt might be a nice addition to the game, and would assist with the building of player-made bases/camps. -
Rare Collectable books - Realistic alternative to class system?
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to combatcomm1's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Eh, I'm not really sure I like the idea of different classes and skill sets in the game, it quickly becomes ridiculously overcomplicated. However, a good way to implement different player 'classes' would be by having various skins a player could equip relative to what they want their role to be. For example, somebody who wanted to be a medic would be able to use a medic skin, but rather than having a different set of skills, would instead just fill their bag with medical supplies. -
how many girls play dayz?
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to tommylogon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd imagine that the majority of them play in close-knit communities so they aren't continually harassed by the sweaty autists that make up for a large proportion of the gaming community. -
removing bandit skin transition is a fail

Unchangeable gender
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to jan_f_w's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
lmfao it said on the gender select screen that you couldn't change it back in big letters so why the fuck would you choose a female if you wanted to be male in the future if rocket wants to change it he can change it, but being stuck with the character you don't want is in 99% of cases through the fault of the person who chose it, also, this mod is only in alpha, so nothing is definite -
A real use for Humanity levels
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to block0's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If NPCs are introduced it could be made that certain NPCs nearer the coastal cities, such as Cherno and Elektro, refused to talk to you if your humanity is too low. However, your list would just severely punish the low-humanity people too much. -
Giving a use to the empty cans
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to TopHatMcFenbury (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You can. -
WTF is happening to the server community.
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to Koot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Once direct chat works and global chat is removed, I think that this won't be a problem any more. People will feel more alone, and will likely want some company, rather than shooting everybody. -
How do you refuel a boat in the middle of the water ?
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to normandy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Drop all your inventory and backpack on the shore, take the jerry can and swim up to the boat and refuel. Once refuelled, back up the boat towards the shore, collect your things again and get in the boat. Simples. -
Shooting hospital glass from the inside?
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to MrEpicGoat's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Throwing 3-5 cans/bottles will fully break the glass. -
Can we please have wind affecting fires, temp and shots?
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to Suicide Mouse's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Me and I'd imagine the majority of non-"harcore" players don't want to spend hours researching how wind affects the velocity and path of bullets. If we're going to add wind, why not also add how heat can affect vision? How about our centre of gravity affecting how we hold the gun? By adding things such as wind, not only is it taking up a huge amount of time to code, but it also makes things horrendously overcomplicated. -
Skills and skin appearance
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to the musical fruit's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Abilities are wrong and prevents the equal opportunities that all players currently have. Players can change their own inventory to suit what kind of player they want to be, such as medic filling their backpack with medical supplies, or an engineer filling their backpack with various vehicle parts. -
Cannibalism and Zombie suggestions
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to fuelhead's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Cannibalism: What the fuck? Zombie Types: Overcomplicated and too similar to games such as Left 4 Dead. This is an apocalypse simulator, not a conventional zombie game. -
Can we please have wind affecting fires, temp and shots?
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to Suicide Mouse's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I feel that adding things such as wind would make the game too inaccessible and overcomplicated for a lot of people -
Street lights at night.
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to slemjack@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If this thing was implemented I don't see how coding a gas generator would be too hard. Would be nice to see a form of electrical lighting to accompany the 'base' items such as wire fencing and sandbags. -
Heres a suggested addon to the "bannable offenses" list
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to Oddball_E8's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Global chat is being removed anyway, but I don't think that using another language should be a bannable offence. -
People spawning behind you, death dodging etc...
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to cal (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm not really sure that this is a big enough issue to need 'fixing' by implementing this, it would just end up harming the legit players. -
Unrealistic, overpowered and would unbalance the game. If you want the ability to do things like this just go play Fallout 3/New Vegas. I understand that you may be frustrated at having to start from scratch each time, but that is what makes this game good, and unlike 99% of other games out there.

Spawn survivors with only a flashlight
jason.jblackman@gmail.com replied to wolfmat's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I've been thinking about this for a while now, and I think that it's a genuinely good idea - however I still think that you should spawn with some food and a water bottle. This would discourage the random coastal killings between newly spawned players, would convey a sense of realism, and also promote teamwork, as a gun can pretty much guarantee your independent survival. Also, it reinforces the seriousness of death in the game, as it becomes a much longer and harder process to regain lost loot. -
The idea of this game is that everybody gets an equal opportunity, however your ability to survive is determined by your personal skill level. Adding skills and attributes would negate this.

Wait, so we're going from fortified towns to buying real estate?
-
Enfield ammo is more common, and deals more damage in PVP. Also has a similar range to the CZ, whilst also being better in close and mid range.
-
1) Ping of individual players has a negligible impact on overall lag. 2) The point of the mod is that zombies are to be feared, and it is hard to survive. 3) I agree, but this might be limited by the engine 4) Ridiculous, the whole point of the mod is survival against other players and the zombies. 5) You can transfer items to your backpack already 6) Choosing spawnpoints is a terrible idea, however, a safe place could be implemented. 7) Bosses take away from the 'realism' of the game, and turns it in to a game like L4D. Also completely fucks up the atmosphere. 8) NO. This is survival, if you can't deal with losing your stuff when you die, go play Fallout. 9) Aspects of the game NEED Operation Arrowhead. Besides, the guy works for BI, you can't blame him for wanting to sell the game he is partly responsible for making.

People can already place wire fencing kits and sandbags.
