Zombiefication / Infection, PvE more survival

I don't know why. It's easy to program. Ive got it in my ARMA 3 ZORT maps. When players die they become AI Zombies. In H1Z1 they will do the same. Walking zombies with all of the original players loot on it. Like Diablo Treasure goblins. Good mechaninc.
  2. In a game play stream i watched last night, a few months back, rocket was talking about what people think about him adding smoking and cigarettes in DayZ mainly for roleplay. I believe the streamers name was sacriel42 or something and vids up on youtube. Edit: Video with Rocket talking about adding smoking to DayZ: Starts at 2:20 Some suggestions that came up in the stream were that smoking could reduce shock damage (seems like players can get into shock after being hit badly and when they do they can't bandage and reload for a few seconds - i didn't know this or if its even implemented yet) anyway effectively calming the player. A negative effect would be too slightly decrease stamina while smoking. Anyway I was thinking about this and though it would be cool to use cigarettes as a type of currency in the apocalypse. Players could find packets of smokes with varying amounts of cigarettes in them in the world and they could trade them for food and guns etc. Well at least in a role playing server. For example, a player could trade 100 cigarettes for an SKS at a vendor. I know this will never happen in dayzsa vanilla, but wouldn't it be cool if players could buy Food/Water/Ammo etc off NPC vendors using cigarettes as a form of currency?
  3. As the title says, currently weapons can only be found in extremely limited areas. Military camps, fire stations, police stations + cars. Why is there no weapon spawns in civilian houses? Also, whatever happened to loot spawning underneath beds? You would expect to find civilian rifles/shotty's and baseball bats underneath some of them.
  4. Even if it's super rare... Right now there seems to be more military style guns then there are civilian weapons. Would definitely like to see an increase of pistols, shotties, and perhaps the .22 rifles. I also noticed that loot used to be more hidden in the older updates. I really dislike what they have done now. I wanna have to search every crook and nanny, behind doorways, underneath beds etc. There should be more loot hidden underneath things. Having a random but extremely low chance for guns to spawn in houses will also make more players search houses. Currently, they get a few cans and some drink and head straight to the military places. It will be w ggorth checking out all the houses then. And i don't think that's unrealistic. No civilians armed with any guns? Yeah right.

    DayZ is to Clean

Agreed! I want to see a zombie dev push for a month on the world itself. -Better zombie models. Blood on the models. Esp around mouth area. -More blood/gore everywhere on the map. -Hanged bodies (zombies), rats, more objects like the pit of dead bodies placed around the map, skeletons, skulls, graveyard, bullet holes in walls. -Cars and caravans left abandoned all over the road. -Broken down military vehicles. -I think in one city they should make it feel like a huge war was waged and lost. Lots of destruction everywhere. Destroyed buildings, scattered tanks, etc. -Wearable bio hazard suits. Edit: The top 4 screenshots in the post above mine are perfect.
  7. Anytime Stats Is this for SA then yes most definitely Maybe stats that reset upon death. -Players KIlled -Zombies Killed -Distance Travelled Stats on Death How and who/which player killed you and in what way. May help to reduce PVP as players will know who kill them and know who to kill/not to trust in the future.

    Sticks on forest floor?

You get kindling (sticks) from chopping small trees. You can also turn tree logs from larger trees into 3X sticks.

Let perma death be perma death

Only thing I can think of is adding an Extreme hardcore server. One where your locked out for 24 hours - 1 week after death. Hell server might only need to restart once a week. But your character would be locked to that server. You have a character for different types of servers anyway. And maybe when you log out you die. So people can loot your body so items stay on that server and can't be taken off it.
  12. The map is fine. They need to add more POI's e.g. Military bases in all corners of the map. That will make the map bigger.... When you have all the best loot in 1 or 2 places and everyones gunning for it, then the map feels small.
  13. Theres an idea. Heavy smokers in DAYZSA could let out a cough once in a while, could reveal your position. Kinda like when you get sick in the game :p. Im talking if you smoke like 100+ cigarettes. Its the little things.
  14. In SA it would have little benefit but it would look cool for aesthitics. Remember metal gear solid? The game had smoking in it. If i remember correctly it slowly knocked your health down but it looked cool. Adds character like face masks. And yes, in an apocalypse smoking would defiantly act like a sorta currency. Lots of people would be willing to trade for cigarettes and tobacco. It would definitely be a luxury item. The main idea in SA would be for roleplaying with little benefit vs little negative effects, e.g. Increased calmness for reduced stamina as someone mentioned in the stream I posted. I'm just sayin, im sure cigarettes/cigars would be hugely popular in an apocalypse setting and likely would be used as currency (if a real apocalypse were to occur)... I'm sure some players would trade anyways if ciggarettes were in the game. Doesn't have to be NPC's. The NPC idea was just for whenever modding gets supported for DAYZSA and someone makes a mod with NPC vendors etc which is sure to happen. Instead of using money or gold bars like some dayz mods i think cigarettes would be better and more realistic is all as money has no use. For example, you could find a pack of 10 = $10 eqv, and in another area a pack of 15 etc. Packs of cigarettes on zombies or what not. Each stick is worth a $1. Bad example. But you get what i mean. Ciggarettes could spawn with a random amount in them from 0 - 20 cigarettes per packet.
  15. I don't know, it would be pretty cool to see a bunch of chars and bandits running around with cigarettes, would make your bandit characters look so much more badass. And I think smoking would be a huge thing in the apocalypse.. All that stress!

  17. Actually I've been playing BP lately an d they have walking dead style zombies. Not only can you get guns much faster but zombies are challenging and fun. Why? When you shoot that gun you get swarmed. I like BP zombies better than DayZ zombies right now. In all honesty, you think that slow zombies aren't challenging but they corner you when you least expect it your screwed. They don't have thousands of zombies but many more. And considering you can find in a gun in the first few minutes is saying something. It seems like every time you fire a shot, more spawn it and thats scary.

    Devs need more pressure.

While development has been seemingly achingly slow - whatever happened to the patch promised in April? Where is the communication that tells us why nothing was released? I think the problem is lack of communication. The devs could be working their assess off but as long as we don't know whats going on behind the scenes the community will 'assume' often the worst. It's really simple rocket. If there's a problem with development, why there was no patch released etc please tell us about it. Don't leave us in the dark. Would fix a friggin thousand things if we just got a weekly post of whats up every week. I too believe that in the next couple of months DayZ will be rapidly receiving updates and this is just the prep phase for future content. We'll see.
  21. Its not about how many zombies are in the map. I can put a 1000 on my arma 3 zombie maps if I spread them out far enough. Its about how many are active (aggro ed or simulated) at any time which is the performance killer. Zombies can be pre-placed frozen objects causing no CPU strain until simulation activation. (Enable Simulation False - Which means they don't animate at all not even breathing and hide object(Zombie) true) or spawned in. I'm guessing zombies become active at 200 meters in DayZ however they have switched to respawnable zombies which means they can put about 5 re-spawnable in a town instead of 10 frozen ones per town. Im guessing they actually spawn in. However if 40 players are in different towns at once, the complications would be deciding how many zombies global can become active/spawn at once. I'm not sure how multipllayer works in general but in my maps it seems that Everybody's actions on the map cause CPU strain for everybody else including zombies. Anyways.... Balance. IT's no fun having 10 slow zombies that can't do shit. 60-100 slow moving zombies per area however... Trust me if game companies could do it, they would have thousands of Walking dead style zombies. Tech on some engines just aint there. Although I' quite impressed by a couple of the console games out at the moment - Dying light.

    Essential for survival: Sleep

I like the mod idea. IN SA Currently you regen health when you have full food/water right. How long approx does it take to regen health if your on the brink of death? 5 Maybe 10 minutes? What about a sleep option, where you can sleep anywhere and regain health by resting over a 30-60 second period or longer perhaps at least until your at full health? You could only do this if you have full food and water and your character is capable of healing. The more hurt you are the longer the period. The downside is you wouldn't be able to wake up maybe unless you took damage so you would have to choose a nice spot.
  23. Ive made a number of Zombie Maps in Arma3 (Z.M.S. and ZORT) and Slow zombies just dont work on Arma engines. (DayZ has only perhaps 5-10 zombies per town that now re spawn). If you notice DAYZ zombies break every zombie rule in the book. They are fast and weaker than humans. The traditional Zombie is slow and is hard to take down usually requiring head shots. Although The weak part doesn't make sense to me balance wise (probably because lack of guns at the start), the zombies move fast to make them a threat. Having very few lumbering slowly towards you would be silly. In order to pull that off you need hundreds and tech just aint there yet although you may want to check out dying light, they seem to be able to somehow simulate hundreds of zombies at once. Regardless they are this way because Arma cannot simply handle more than a handful of Zombies or custom units at one time. Map makers have to use alot of tricks such as freezing zombies in areas until they aggro. Adding more than 30-40 zombies simply causes the arma engine to grind to a halt. And what if theres a number of players in different citys at once? Likely less zombies will spawn. If you notice in the above video, those zombies are like ghosts and have almost no AI. It is likely the Zombies become a Zombie when it aggro's - attached ai etc.

    Radioactive contamined Zone

They should do it, I was thinking about this earlier. There doesn't need to be a nuclear facility, it was an apocalypse. Half the planet probably got nuked. The contaminated zone could be a large industrial area with high end loot such as spare parts for cars and weapon camps. There would be lots of loot because it would largely be untouched. For food items Instead of them being ruined they could be contaminated. Food items from radioactive Zone would make you sick and die really quick. Players would need to find rare gas mask, oxygen tanks or whatever is the equivalent of a BIO HAZARD suit or they would simply die when entering. Zombies could be stronger in the area too.

    Rolling Update Rev - 0.43.116251

I noticed that one Z didn't de-spawn after death at all. Hung around for a minute. That could be an issue because I'm pretty sure if a Z doesnt de-spawn thats one less respawnable Zombe in the area.
