Totally agree with you Gews, just pointing out that they're still around and Africa and middle east, old, rusty and generally in poor condition.
-
Still quite a lot of them in use in Africa and the middle east, but yes its old and American made.

Which Timney you going to be adding the sportsman or featherweight delux? As for the ER Shaw barrel, well, 'nuff said really.... going to keep the original safety or go for a low profile ? The scope will be a nice match for that rifle, I must admit I have a weakness for leopold and zeiss scopes myself though have been looking quite closely at the nightforce scopes as quite a few of the guys I know that have them love 'em. I would be pretty sure that you should be sub 1 MOA with that rifle. Are you doing the work yourself or getting it gunsmithed for you ? The trigger job and firing pin replacement are straightforward enough barrel is going to be a bit more of a bitch. Oh and yet another thread hijacked by real gun nuts hehehe

Just a General Mosin Question (I'm sure it's not the first-nor last)

No the Airtraffic Control Towers on the airfields. I usually find at least one on those during my travels -
Just a General Mosin Question (I'm sure it's not the first-nor last)
Legio23 replied to DarkGravity's topic in General Discussion
I find them quite often in the police stations and on the roofs of the ACTs on the airfields. Just hang around the ACTs for the respawns and you might get lucky -
I think I felt my pants stir a little there :o I've been looking quite closely at getting a Tikka T3 tactical in .308 to add to the collection as the writeups seem quite favourable towards it. I also found a rather nice aftermarket stock to put on from KRG (http://www.kineticresearchgroup.com/products/w3c.php). After that its just a question of a little gunsmithing to polish it up.

Not to mention a rifle like that giving that kind of accuracy costs tens of thousands and fully custom made. The most accurate rifle I own has a 0,5 MOA and that, along with the scope, cost me a small fortune. Xbow beans for you sir. :D

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Legio23 replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
No I do not think that at all and I refuse to get into a pissing match over it either as clearly that is what you're aiming for, but, then again neither are you. I made a statement and you can take it however you like because its my own personal opinion nothing more. I actually own a couple of Ruger MkIIs one of which is integrally silenced and also an Izhmash saiga in .223. I don't consider regional correctness to be a serious factor either otherwise I would make comments on several of the other weapons currently in the game or that have been suggested, which, I have not so bang goes that theory too. Once again its my opinion and I'm sticking to it and it seems that I am not alone in this thought. -

Will be interested to see this weapon and how it plays out, hope they do a good job with it. -

Firstly where do you get off saying that I am freaking out about it ? I am not, lets get that straight right away. I expressed quite clearly that this weapon is extremely bad, unreliable and has absolutely no place in the game, a statement that I stick to. So kindly stop trying to bring rather weak arguements as to why this weapon shouldn't be dismissed. The fact that it was in STALKER, where it was likely placed to wow the kids more than anything (as I have yet to see one of these in Eastern Europe), doesn't mean it should be in here and no amount of posturing on your part will make me consider otherwise. -
The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Legio23 replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Nope but neither is being the worst possible shotgun a criteria for it being in the game either. Most people who don't know the weapon just think its great because it looks apparently 'badass', should that be a criteria for it entering the game ? I did not at any point state that this game should have only the best weapons with no flaws so stop trying to put words in my mouth thank you. -

Did someone actually ask for that piece of shit striker ? probably the bigest hunk of shite that I have EVER had the misfortune to handle. I'd rather take a rusty old Baikal than that. The guy obviously has NO idea what he is asking for. -
Will we eventually get different reloading 'tiers'?
Legio23 replied to spensah's topic in General Discussion
Depends how much drill you've done and how each person handles stress so sorry there is no way that this could be replicated into the game with any kind of reality at least I don't believe so. The more you drill the more it becomes muscle memory, the more you drill under pressure and stress the surer and smoother those drills become. -
Damn those other players pinching all the good stuff! damn them I say ! oh and don't forget bodies of water....oh damn those bodies of water too they get me gear wet !

Add weapon slings and get rid of weapon slots
Legio23 replied to scriptfactory's topic in Suggestions
Slings......yes please, variety of slings even better ie. single, double and triple point. -
Fists thanks ! In RL I have enough firepower and ammo at home to last me a while. Unfortunately, or rather, fortunately this game everyone starts on the same playing field lets keep it that way.
-
Over 4 then there needs to be clearly defined group hierarchy and command structure. Above all its about discipline and drilling within the team
-
Given you some of mine for being a good chap
-
4 man works great having used that for many years in RL and can split 2/2 3/1 depending on config but the guys have to have radio discipline and be constantly aware of situation and position. It requires drill drill and more drill, also having something to distinguish team mates is helpful. I have a few guys I play with but when the rest of the mob get onto TS its a fricking nightmare with everyone talking over the other, no one knowing where everyone else is etc, so generally we head off to another server and another channel on TS. Pick a good couple of guys you can work with, drill with them on a quiet server and then you'll get a decent squad.
-
NEED....MORE....SPACE!!!! I admit it...I have a problem, I'm a total loot whore. If I could carry every type of everything I would !
-
Depends if the gear carried in vests etc has an effect on the damage caused, guys have survived chest shots, due to zippos, pistol/rifle mags, ration tins, etc. If that gear doesn't play a part then they should go down direct unless as Terminal says they're wearing plates. Ballistic helmet will stop an AK round except at close distance, will even stop a 7.62x54 at distance too, a bloke without it is quite simply dead from a headshot or at least should be. Its happened to me before with my M4 having to slot off >10 rounds without any significant damage being caused and I only use semi to increase precision.
-
at least let them finish making the damn game first before you want to go changing it.
-
I also want to see it as realistic as possible hence my standpoint on this and why I suggested therefore making batteries specific to the item in question, giving realistic battery time and making the batteries that much harder to come across. I have used the NVGs and they are innacurate from the real thing which I used for many years and still do now. The only optics that are getting close to that are gen 3+ and 4s. If you came across a pair of soviet made gen 2s (which considering the location of the game is the most proabable) believe me they won't give you much depth of vision, gen 2s in a wooded area might if your lucky give you a couple of dozen feet of vision where you might see something lurking around, thats the kind of thing I'm hoping will be acheived in this game.

It wasn't an attempt to sound like a 'pissy schoolgirl' it was to iterate that it is your point of view only and not one that is shared by everyone, I actually take insult to that and it just makes your arguementation sound weaker in my book. As for the ammo there is suitable difference between ammunition types and they are not generic ' assault rifle rounds' or ' hunting rifle rounds' there is disparity. And yes I did make a statement about people complaining about the NVGs as no thread seems to be without someone bringing it up as needing to be 'super rare' or unwanted item yet no one is pointing out a solution where they could be added to the game effectively as the way it stands with trying to keep it as realistic as possible. Making them super rare is not an agruement that I agree with, on the other hand to have them with a very limited battery life and specific battery type would suit me fine. The fact is NVGs are around, they are used frequently no longer by just the military but by civilians as well so why should they be so restricted in the game? You have your opinion and I have mine we shall see what the devs come up with and have to deal with it each in our own way.
