Experimental Branch: 0.48 Discussion
ahmedakbar replied to Super_Duty's topic in PC Experimental Updates
I like the new experience. Quality loot is really hard to find. However I hate the insta-death/insta-fracture bug that is happening more and more often since 0.47. I no longer get anywhere near any ladder/stairs... -
Save The Trees Man! Marginalized Wilderness
ahmedakbar replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I agree. Chernarus+ is getting too urbanized and loosing the original spirit... The new neighborhoods in Cherno were a nice addition (even though the big apartment buildings in this new places are in contrast with the small buildings in Cherno itself...). Svet and even Novo (even though I have barely stopped around there) seemed like a correct addition to the map as well. However, the most recent additions seem unnecessary. Not only they won't almost get visited by players, but also they area eating up the wilderness that was a very important factor of the end-game in the mod. Great places to put your tents and hide vehicles, not to mention base building... As it was pointed out in another thread it was already a shame to lose Pobeda tham, an historic landmark of Chernarus. And some of the constructions actually don't make much of a sense. The Military Base in Pavlovo for example, what is the point of having it there in the middle of the forest? Was it built because of the infection?? Really? A 5 storey concrete hospital??? Same for the train station and coach yard west of Lopatino... that is one of the smallest towns of the map... I don't want to be critical. I like a lot of the new additions like the military bases in Zeleno, or north and south of the NWAF, and Svet and Novo probably bring some variety to the map as well, but I hope the devs manage to keep the spirit of the original Chernarus and the mod as the game advances towards release... For a green Chernarus! -
Signed. It was a great area in the mod for the end-game.... Lots of tents, vehicles, ... We need it back in Standalone! I see too much concrete in the north ATM.
-
Yes, and yet some people say that 40/40 is already too much people... <_< I move around the NWAF and center region and barely find anybody. Sometimes I don't know whether I'm playing a SP or MP game. I miss the 100/100 servers where I could find a couple of guys every few hours. That said, I only encounter people when I respawn in Berezino or the other city in the north...

Would You Support A Gun Shop Loot Location?
ahmedakbar replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Big no for the gun store here. Once the persistent loot is implemented I hope to see loot stay in dead bodies or wherever you drop it, at least for a certain amount of time. That way the spawn system would be way more dynamic and things could be encountered at the most unexpected places... -
I do like it. I cannot think of a better solution for server hopping than a spawn penalty. If I get affected by it due to some other legit reason, I'll just go do something else for 8 minutes. I don't know why so many people make a huge issue about it...

Experimental Branch: 0.45 Discussion
ahmedakbar replied to SmashT's topic in PC Experimental Updates
This would be rather good in my opinion. It would give the game a whole new different concept of looting :P -
The overall problem for me is that there are way too many servers... It is too easy to rent a server and put it online. Then of course it gets out of control. Admins kicking "everybody" because of a suspected cheater (what about the 10+ guys that got kicked who did nothing?), a dozen of servers with "join = kick" in the description even though it is strictly forbidden in the rules post, people server hoping to the tens of 0-pop servers to get some high end loot, and so on... I don't think any of this is anything positive for the overall public hive dayz experience... As this is an alpha, there should be a limited number of servers online IMO, with proven and trustworthy admins. No point on having those 100 private-but-not-officially-private-as-its-not-allowed servers pop up in the browser....

Realised I miss one of the mosted hated "feature"
ahmedakbar replied to xalienax's topic in General Discussion
Well, thats what you have a walkie talkie for.... Though I seem to be the only one that switches it on... -
... Any chance of raising the player limit in the server hosting rules? I definitely had my best DayZ experience to date in the 100 player lag-free-desync-free experimental servers last week... I'm pretty sure many more feel the same ;)
-
I voted other as I don't KOS in the coast... If any I would kill the guy who I see attacking fresh spawns... It all changes if we talk about west of stary though..
-
missin the 100 pop servers from the experimental :(

It is easy... I have two ways to play the game. I can spend hours going building after building trying to find some loot (or "treasure hunt" as somebody called it before), or I can go get the guy who already did that for me. Guess what I am going to do... That said, I only do banditry in the deep inland, and I only KOS if I am playing by myself or have doubts of the other guy not being alone (robbing in SA is actually quite fun) In the end, for those who whine about banditry: what do you expect to happen when you reach NWAF? You either have something we want, or you are looting the places we want to loot...

How do you think DayZ Standalone is going?
ahmedakbar replied to Zedertone's topic in General Discussion
I think it is going quite well so far. Anyone who buys early alpha content should be ready to experience a partial and buggy experience... My favorite one so far is being knocked unconscious by a guy throwing punches into the air 100m from me while I was shooting at him with my pristine M4 ACOG :D As some people have said before, even with the partial and buggy content we have in this early alpha stage, the game is already quite addictive and fun. I can only imagine that when hunting, vehicles and tents/basebuilding get implemented it will be quite a good step forward from the game, especially if they manage to optimize the netcode in order to host 100 players and more of zeds...
