few hours ago i log in a server with my friend for sniping. And i came to the end that hitboxes are broken. exept the head, any other part you are going to hit is all about luck. the amount of clothes you do have does not count nothing! So forget any tutorial guide or this link: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/157157-tests-results-on-hitboxes-corpses-force-feed-and-melee/ First of all server ping was decent! We engaged a fight with medium equiped guys, I killed one while was walking 20 metres from me and was giving his back to me. ....1 shot 1 kill on the back...to be more precise on the hips ....1 shoot on the hips and dead, Wool coat and hunter backpack. ...Then here comes the nice one that made me piss off: Naked with double barrel shotgun....i see him....1 shoot in the back same as the other guy, then 1 shoot and miss ....then 1 more shoot and HIT! 2 shoots, broken leg on a naked and still alive! My friend come outside with the 1911 and hit him twice but he get killed by his shotgun. I had to finish that naked with my sawn off! Ok....i decide to go away awayting for my mate to come back. But here comes close to me the third one that has been hit by the zombie, I pull out the sawn off at 10 metres from him and BANG BANG.....still alive, he had a blue shirt. I circle on him while reloading with the snaploader and once i come outside from a tree he makes the good shoot on me and boom ....unconscious and then dead! I do not had an helmet that saved me. I was Military equipped, all pristine with a vest pristine. I want to know why to kill a naked guy i used 2 mosin shots plus 2 1911 from my friend? And then i died as military equipped by a single mosin shot. I want to report also that 2 days ago a naked guy on Novo asked me to kill him for spawning somewhere else: I shoot him 1 time with sawed off at 1 metres and my friend with the mosin on the chest....was still alive! I had to shoot the second shell to finish him. It's not about ping....it's about hitboxes. Exept the head, any other part you are going to hit it's random if you die or not. Heavier clothes does not save you, it's all random! There's no explenation for a naked guy to survive to 2 mosin shots plus 2 handguns hit. While a military geared up player die by a mosin shot. Why the first guy killed died by a shoot in the himps while the naked not? Why i went uncoscious and the naked not? Out from any logic.

The only thing i know is that, if you wear a pristine/worn pants and you fall down by bug, they will go ruined and there's an high change that you will broke a leg If your pants are already ruined or heavily damage and you were standing still, then you will die. Same for boots/shoes! Both of them must be on good status to avoid horrible surprises!

Might be, but how could that be explained with a player that was standing that asked to be killed? By the way i'm sure the naked guy with the shotgun was standing and i had shoot the first bulled right in that moment. Because he was watching where my friend was camping I do never shoot until i'm sure to hit the target, seldom if ever shoot to a moving target because of lagg and desync....i already had this kind of experience :-/

I saw that video aswell, and there are many others. But what happened yesterday shows other things. There's no explainantions why 2 naked guy survived to many many many shots and 2 geared up players with stuffs inside chests and vests died in a shot. It's random! If you die in a shot you are just unlucky and not statistic and math.

And i do completely agree with you! But my point is, who the hell made online guides about how to get much more cover by wearing as much stuff is possible? Because it's all random, How do they managed these tests?!

But on these facts it is not what should happen. Naked guy: 2 mosin, 2 1911 shoots, 1 sawn off shot to kill Naked guy that asked to die: 2 sawn off shoot to kill at point blank and 1 mosin shot 1 equpied guy: 1 mosin shoot on himps to kill 1 military geared guy (me) : 1 mosin shot to kill Why this?

As topic says, if I know the names and the server of people are cloning their stuff, Can they be banned for glitching/cheating? After all cloning in my opinion is some sort of cheat, because allow you to have an advantage over other players through a glitch. I know that is a matter of days and all this will disapper, but when i do read things like: "Till it is not considered a cheat and it is legit to do it, i'll do it" make me mad...Because any thing in this game that allow you to being superior to others, will be abused. And good faith and fair play are just old memories...

nighttime is awesome...but game still need to be reworked for shadows and pattern colors during night. It' difficult to see something even with a light... And some players changes gamma settings to see quite perfectly. :( -
I'm sure it is the most know issue of making your mate inconscious and open his inventory while he's down. Then when he stands up you can loot it! It's the most common, if it's this what you mean.

I'm playing both on experimental and both on stable. Both of them i'm getting a bug like graphic settings are going to be changend, but they don't. It happens this while you are doing something or moving around, and will be displayed to you the DAYZ wallpaper with DAYZ logo...that picture that always happear when you do log in a server, that one on green. Do you remember? At the moment i realized that was because of big towns, but it happens also with just a few houses....On experimental happens quite often, on stable just on large towns like Novo or Chernogorsk. Once you are getting this picture, your charachter is still able to move on background, you can hear his footsteps. So it is vulnerable to zombies or other players. I have an high end PC with 16 gb ram and an ATI 7870, so I don't want to add more specs....but as sometime i get Windows error that says "not enough memory space (ram)" is getting boring. Anyone else have same problem?

my friend on steam has ATI 5770...so at this point i suppose it's a gpu problem....but i won't change off course, i wait for more update....but what i fell frustrating is that this happening since 0.48, not before...i'm playing since 0.43 ... So sad :(

mmmmm this is gonna be hard to try out...i dunno if my motherboard takes nvidia gpu. Anyway it's all because of the optimization of the game. Ati series 7000 and 270-290 are very good gpu at the moment and really stand toe to toe with nvidia. It's all because this engine has not been designed for the cores we do have now, plus bad optimization...i think it's all about that. Anyway what i found strange is that i do get this screen since 0.48...maibe 0.47 even....but it's not a thing that happens only on experimental Anyway i have another guy on friend list that says to manage the same memory error. I sent him a message...let's see what he's gonna reply

No to be honest i didn't check the tracker. What happens to me it is like showing a loading screen like you are changing video settings! ...But i don't, as once the screen disappear everything is back as before. During this screen (it's the Dayz loading screen), everything is still living on backgroud...so if you are attacked by a zombie or a firefight you are vulnerable. You can run and circle around to avoid being hit. Another thing that irritate me is the "POKE" message on windows which says "not enough memory for this application" ....and i do have 16 gb Corsair Vengeange 2, AMD 8350 4 ghz and ATI 7870 2 gb... I do perfectly know game still is to be optimized, but i wish to know if someone found any useful setting or string to solve this out. "Poke" error message on windows, that sometime provoking Steam crash (happens Only with Dayz with over 25 games i have) Loading screen when i'm playing... ...I'm lucky that this happened to me only with zombies till now, but what then if happens with players?

I think that 9 out 10 time we do play as a fresh spawn, most of the time we don't pick handguns because of no magazines. Everyone going to pick a rifle because it's more practical, even a double barrel shotgun! And it does not take slots from inventory. It's a logical think and i agree with that, i'm doing the same.....even if there's a thing i do not explain to myself, and it is how you can put a rifle on your shoulders without a strap? Same with a melee weapon off course... By the way my point is not this, my point is another one. I'm still thinking that whoever starts to play must start step by step with the weapons: Handguns loot percentage is the same as some rifles, but you won't pick an handguns on early game because will take slots from your inventory...exept a more practical magnum. So my opinion is that ALL RIFLES loot percentage must be reduced, and the handguns instead get increasing. ....On a post apocalyptic era would be more properly to see many wanderer/traveller or baby bandits with handguns instead of rifles of any kind. ...And it also would be fun to see more handguns firefight! ;) What do you think? It's not that bad idea!

My point is that loot percentage must be changed on both rifle and handguns. If the percentage for exampe is 50% and 50% ....my idea is to make 70% for handguns and 30% for rifles...off course snaploaders and magazines for civ weapons percentage will be the same, but it must be increased slightly the loot percentage of handguns magazines. Then if there are too many U.S. Weapons, maibe adding another revolver chambered with .38 would also help those that have troubles finding magazines. The damage of a 38 is quite the same as a 9mm, but at least it's a firearm that you pickup and it is ready to shoot. Plus the .38 can also be chambered in the 357 magnum! :) ...So the .38 bullets would have 2 guns to fit with :) About The civ rifles like Sporter i agree with you that percentage of loot for it must be increase, in particular the 30 round mag. People still avoid it because of the rarity of the magazines and the damage it does. There are no handguns firefight in the game, and would be nice to see them and watch people shooting from a building to another also from 30 metres distance where it is pretty difficult to hit something....but still entertaining! :)

HAHHAHA :D ...If so i'm going to play hardcore and sneak behind someone and say: "hands up! this is a robbery! Drop your backpack and weapon" And once i picked up everything i give him the banana and say goodbye :D

Another idea would be to add a couple of other handguns...like a revolver chambered with .38 and a Tokarev ....and make U.S. weapons even more rare, but with a damage chart superior.

the hands still does not have hitboxes... If you do try to shoot to the hands of someone that put his hands up, you won't hurt him. My gloves are always pristine and never take damage I love it <3 !!!! This to say one of the things are not working :lol: -
it is even more a lottery to try to looting someone once you kill him...because of the ragdoll badly done. and someone hidden my reply, that was more simple to delete just a word.

It would be great, but impossible to add. The grass ingame exist, but over the distance it disappear. If you crawl few metres from someone you will not see him, on the contrary the grass will be no more displayed over 30-50 metres. ...And because of that you can see players over hundreds of metres far away. It's a problem that exists also in other games, such as Skyrim, but that game is designed for other purposes and different players. First they had to fix the lagg issues from the game. Then in my opinion, if it won't be possible to add more grass over the distance because of CPU and GPU loads, i think that the best idea would be to make players crawling they look like shadows that move....Like the Predator when it is invisible: You don't see it, but when you look more carefully you see a shadow that is hiding on the ground. this issue was in a game from 2004 called JOINT OPERATIONS.....In my opinion is the best solution, that won't load too much the computer and will allow you to camuflage
