Love How Everyone Is An Expert

Sadly I doubt you will. I've broken down my extremely long, rational speeches about what alpha is to a few simple words, and even those don't get through to half these forums. Alpha =add stuff till the game shits itself Beta = Fix what you broke. Edit: after hearing about Arma 3's development hiccups and growing pains being mostly the same, I do have to say that those of us who stick with it or in for a great game.

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

Almost 200 hours and not one spotted and confirmed yet. I usually play on low pop servers, anywhere from 0-15 people, and haven't seen them yet. However, I also stay away from death match zones unless the server is empty; cause I know that when I go there the odds are high I will find one no matter how many are on the server.

    Bicycle Suggestions/Discussion [Official]

I can't wait for bikes, they should be (in theory) cheap to maintain, easy to find, and easy to conceal when you log out and if someone takes it, big deal, you can find another. I think a step up from that would be ATV's and dirtbikes, though I'm not sure how many of those would be available in a post soviet state? as for endgame, endgame is what you make it. for me endgame is getting a pristine press vest, riders jacket, gun with full kit (all pristine) and a full map of chernarus. The gun I usually get first, map second (though not without quite a few hours of running), and it's a toss up whether I find the press vest or jacket last, they are both so hard and rare to find for me (i'm sure someone out there has found enough to SWIM in them). Then I just roam the country aimlessly looking to help people till I get killed by a bug or a player. The first has happened FAR more than the second, and then I get to do it all again and have fun finding my stuff again!

    New zombies, Soon?

Nice find, it moves so fast I miss these nuggets. It looks like the bratislava group is continuing to surprised Dean by getting comfy and working on the game faster than he expected. However he DID say in the roadmap that it was almost entirely done, and that once done it would take a few weeks of in house testing before being put out to the public. So it looks like we are still on schedule for a June or July revamp of zombies and "stress testing" by the public as I like to call the experimentals.

How could we deal with hackers?

Indeed. Out of curiostiy I looked up some of these "hacks" to see what the hacking community is doing and how battle eye is helping, the answer, not that much. Most of these hacks are actually developer options left in the game from Arma2 similar to "impulse 101" from half life 2, or /gamemode 0/1 from minecraft. etc. They are not "hacking" but exploiting loopholes in the game for the sake of ruining others fun. And battle eye hasn't risen to the challenge. They either need to step it up, or we need someone who will, as opposed to kicking for using a solid state drive or whatever. Edit: not to say battle eye HASN'T stepped it up to take care of the threat, they just aren't being proactive enough and preventative.

Describe your dayz experience in 1 word

Unreasonably-cruel ok, there was a hyphen there but TECHNICALLY, one word.

    Bring 100 player servers back

No, just no. We are not here to observe, it says they are doing this public alpha to listen to the players. The proper thing to do is not to wait, nor to demand, but to ask, and to discuss it. That is how a public project like this is supposed to work.

    Hacking losers...you suck balls!

PBO hacking, yeah. I admit I used to be a server hopper, till I played experimental and actually had fun on a full server. now i am easing myself into higher pop servers. With 100 hours in the game I have not encountered a single hacker I KNOW of, so Lower pop servers between 10-15 seem just right as long as you stay out of, or are very cautious in berezino. As for your question, I will be the first person to admit to hacking in battlefield 2 once upon a time. I was terrible at the game and wanted to earn every badge in the game, so I tried using an aimbot to get the weapon badges, but it felt, hollow, every kill I got, never even earned a single badge with it, I decided to delete the hacks and learn and grow better at the game, never got all the badges, but got quite a few harder to get ones. For this game it seems not so much about having fun with the game as it is being too lazy to server hop and ruining OTHER peoples fun, and having fun THAT way. The only cheats I can condone are the 3PP wall exploit to check for people inside jails and walls, I do it each time I go into one, even though it has been MOSTLY fixed, I am still cautious, and it just feels wrong to do for the simple fact that there is no more mystery, you can immediately see through to the other floors and such if anyone is in there and I kinda feel bad doing it, instead of the proper way of clearing a room.
  9. I know a guy who does this, we were in a skype call, I saved a fresh spawn, backed up, told him where we left a weapon, then he flagged down the guy and brought him to it and shared some gear, then invited him to join our skype call and tag along with us to get some better gear, then turned around, when he turned back the guy had bolted, scared for his life at something so odd in this game. Yet it still felt good to help out a fellow and I hope he remembers it.

    The Mosin

Blast, how did I miss? hmm, now that you are here, perhaps you can catch the attention of Rocket and Bohemia and have them implement your sights as an attachment or as default. as is the irons are hard to see unless you zoom (for me) and fiber optic sights would be excellent.
  11. bodybagger2430

    The Mosin

Well presumably that's what he was contacted for, realistic scopes for the mosin's and the current LRS will go to the blaze or another civvie rifle.
  12. bodybagger2430

    The Mosin

Awesome to know we will have more sights for the mosin. And real ones as well. I'm not a gun nut by any means but I love the old bolt rifles, and the mosin is possibly my favorite, even over the lee enfield or the springfield.
  13. True or not, it is always good to be positive, especially with all the negativity on these forums lately. Even Grimey Rick has stopped being so sarcastically negative and is being positive lately

Because the game fell victim to its own popularity. I heard about DayZ first from Yahtzee, I took his review with a grain of salt because his job is to moan and complain, then I began seeing videos of really funny and fun things and I figured I would give it a try at some point. Then I found out it had spawned rust and H1Z1 and to a lesser extent War Z, then I found SA, and was able to experience it for myself without buying arma 2 just for dayZ. Word about DayZ spread like wild fire from the twin dragons of Yahtzee and corporate game spin off's
  16. Actually, sometimes shit happens in development you can't help but facepalm and go "how did THAT happen". When a new version of the fallout3 overhaul kit shipped out one time, we simply had never found one of the new guns (it was meant to be really rare) and didn't realize the sound file was missing. you would think that we would have noticed a minigun with no spin up or firing sound but NOPE. It took a user of our mod to show us this and it resulted in a hotfix that day for everyone. Sometimes you can change a value in balance issues that for SOME UNKNOWN REASON effects something else, and it is always irritating to do. what most likely happened is they changed something for rendering to try and improve quality, and it inadvertently affected long distance rendering. And to be honest, sometimes you get GOOD feedback from a bug. They talk about this in half life 2 episode 1, a bug caused a character to behave oddly and people LOVED IT thinking it was just a quirk, and they kept it

I agree that it should be desperation more than anything, however I don't want KoS ELIMINATED, just severely reduced. Half the fun of dayZ is, and should be, taking the risk to talk to someone. THere will still be assholes who see KoS as the way to go but they will be so reduced as to make it more fun to talk to people and survive than shoot someone/run away in fear When a guy heard I was a medic after shooting at me, he voluntarily tossed down his mosin and asked if he could help me. Offered to give me his first aid kit, and eventually gave me the long range scope he had found so I could scope towns before entering them for traps in exchange for my PU scope. It was a great interaction, tense, terrifying, and fun, and both of us benefited. This is the kind of interaction dayZ NEEDS, and more people like this in the community.
  18. Except your attempt at humor fails. Chalk up another failed troll.
  19. And if you did an ounce of research you would know that I know this, and have explained alpha more than once. DayZ is competing in the games market against any game out there, whatever tomb raider they are working on, borderlands, Madden, final fantasy 2 million. You name it, if it is on shelves dayZ has to sell itself over that product. It's simple business.
  20. Without skimming the whole thread I like to think of this, a small exercise in how such a small thing as a single amusement park could help immersion: You walk into a town, think that famous photo of Pripyat in the zone (posted on the first page, actually) you walk into the area, see the Ferris wheel falling apart, you approach it out of curiosity, a body is inside the lower car, horribly maimed, and huddled over something, no indication of what it was, just a torn and destroyed teddy bear laying inside, a blood streak leading from the car Ferris wheel car, lighting strikes somewhere as you follow the streak to a pair of corpses, one is a cop with a pistol, a female zombies body is draped over him with a gouge out of his neck you turn, another cop zombie lunges at you, you swing with your bat and knock him down, again, down for the count, you move on, you see a strong man game, broken and in shambles, the hammer snapped in half, and near a body of a man, another body nearby of a woman frozen in time where she died, the owner of the strong man game draped over her, possibly he turned from the infection and grabbed her, the broken half of the hammer lies near him, it seems a man tried to save the woman by striking the worker with the hammer from the game. as you stand staring and contemplating this, it begins to rain, your attention is drawn to the bumper cars, the grisly scene is much the same, the aftermath of a zombie pulling a man out of a car as he turned and beginning to chow down can clearly be seen here. As you stop to look at the bodies and contemplate what happened, a raider nearby fires a single shot and you join the ranks of the dead in this forsaken world that once brought brief happiness to those who were worked to the bone, trying to make a living and leave a better world for their kids.
  21. Not really, these are hardball questions that NEED to be considered, and probably have been considered since the mod was in its initial idea phase. It just so happens that those of us with testing experience or want to see the game grow cut straight to the meat of the issues. It's something other games need to build around if they want to be GOOD games. If a game wants to COMPETE with others it is one that will be discussed at length, listening to people, discussing the cores.

    What do I do?

Long trips into the forests are best accompanied with up to 2 canteens (I keep 3 in case I find a patient who needs it) and a protector case with 3 bags of rice, or cereal and rice or a protector case stuffed full of peaches. I find peaches and beans to be the best for hydration and energy without LOOSING hydration but you can get hard numbers from other places. I'm sure someone has it memorized on the forums.
  23. Well if you KoS and then loot the body... but then you run the risk of A. sniped by a hero. and B. ruining said item unless you get a headshot. ... We need hats that hold things, so we can stick those helicopter parts in them. That would be the BEST way to keep from being killed by a raider; line your pockets with Helo parts and run around screaming about it to everyone.
  24. bodybagger2430

    What do I do?

This. drink till you have a light green energized and a dark or light green hydrated. This is caused by loss of blood. which as I understand is what you loose before you start loosing health. Don't quote me on that though, I just know how to fix the problems, not exactly what causes them. (Some medic I am eh? heh)
  25. bodybagger2430

    I'm worried!

Not your problem, not hurting you, he isn't shoving it down your throat, and this isn't really the place to discuss it. if you want to duke it out with him and be hateful take it to the PM's or steam, or go snipe each other in game, just off the forums, please.
