Hotfix Build 1.7.1.2 Rolling Update
RachetSmurf replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Sucks that people are losing gear but this is an alpha. Priority is not recovering items for people.. it's about testing and implementing. Database rollback would also affect those who have since gathered items. Either way it's a waste of time rollback until the issue is fixed.. and by then there would be substantial time passed. How about instead on the next patch they just wipe the database and start fresh? :) Don't get attached to your loot.. it's Alpha. This isn't meant to be played like an end product. -

It also does not appear to even work since you cant swing it Scroll mouse to prepare it. I swear people don't even fiddle around before running to the forum. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.1.2 Rolling Update
RachetSmurf replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Don't mean to be rude but WE ARE the testers bro... Picking up weapons spawns 20+ crowbars and hatchets and neither one actually works. They also apparently take up the main weapon spot. This is stuff that would be obvious with about 5 minutes of testing. Who cares.. the goal isn't to please you. He makes changes, they tested what they felt necessary at the time and leave the rest of the testing to us. People need to unclench. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.1.2 Rolling Update
RachetSmurf replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Don't mean to be rude but that's our job. It's an alpha and hotfixes just released.. we test them. He doesn't make releases for gameplay in an ALPHA. They're implemented so we can test them.. if you don't understand that, then wait until Beta. -

Hotfix Build 1.7.1.1 Rolling Update
RachetSmurf replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I've been playing all morning and all of the loot seems messed up. I'm finding barns only contain guns and or vehicle parts.. houses contain like one or two utilities (map, axe).. not finding food anywhere and ive search 3 towns. -
(Another) Trading Post that might actually succeed?
RachetSmurf replied to Publik's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I joined your group. I'm definitely interested in joining this operation as anything you need.. I'll work whatever is needed at the time and try to fill in where areas are short. You should set up a little meet and greet at some point in the game.. or make a list of the things you need to get the main base of operations... operational. Send me a message if you need anything, I play a lot. -
What server were you playing on? PM me if you'd rather not share public. Depending on timezone etc.. I might want to join up.

They could of also been yanking your chain or hoping someone would find them and play with their mind. -
Food and drinks impossible to find since 1.7.1.1
RachetSmurf replied to Jorden's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've seen some people mention loot issues but I haven't run into it myself yet. I will have to play more and see what happens. -

How often are your camps raided?
RachetSmurf replied to corruptshadow's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I stumble upon camps all the time. I found a tent cleverly hidden in a town once.. though.. guess it wasn't that clever.. since I found it. -

RachetSmurf replied to Tigerr13's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree. Once again people are assuming ANYONE pro-1.7.1 must have had loot when they started. I did not and I have had no problems with zombies.. in fact I can't believe how much people are complaining.. people must barely even be trying. Calling it tedious to stealth is not an excuse.. that's how hard it would be irl. Yes, it's a game, but it's always a simulation of what it would be like. Great patch imo. I respect others opinions, but I really hope they don't revert. -

As a new player, This mod is so difficult its un-playable.
RachetSmurf replied to HamHamm's topic in New Player Discussion
I am Your statement here in regards to the guy who replied is a complete assumption. You have no idea what stuff he has. I agree it's far from unplayable.. that's an exageration. People are still playing the way they did in 1.6 where they just "RUN" everywhere and are impatient. They get caught and then call it unplayable. I have been running into any of the problems people are complaining about and I started fresh after dying trying to repair a bus in the previous patch. -
20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
RachetSmurf replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Does no one know how to get away from zombies or stealth? All of these people are having such trouble and constantly dieing. I'm just not running into the same problems and I did not have weapons/gear before the patch came live. I really hope he doesn't give in and give weapons back. Melee weapons eventually would be great.. I don't want to start with a gun. -

What Would You Like to Start With?
RachetSmurf replied to zak757's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What we're spawning with in 1.7.1 now is perfect. If melee weapons get added to the game, fantastic.. but you shouldn't start with one. People who keep suggesting being able to use your fists? That's ridiculous.. this isn't resident evil movies.. the average person would rarely ever be able to due any sort of CQ fighting or grappling with a zombie that feels no pain and never tires. Melee weapons would be ok though. Items as is now is fine.. I had no problem gearing up quickly when I started. -

RachetSmurf replied to Tigerr13's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Great patch. I spawned fresh with nothing after this patch and have not had any trouble at all getting away from zombies, finding food/weapons/equipment and FPS has definitely improved. Rocket mentioned the loot thing isn't perfect yet, but at least its playable. I'm not hardcore or really new, but I think the changes make the game vastly more fun. I don't think starting with a weapon is a good idea.. I found a weapon within minutes easily.. in fact I passed like 3 double barrel shotguns. Zeds are very easy to lose imo. People will adapt like they have before. no matter what changes are made their will always be some unhappy and some happy. It's Alpha.. that in itself is enough. I think if people keep bitching as much as they do.. they'll end up doing closed testing or something.. and then we wouldn't get to be a part of it like we are now. -
What? First off, I didn't say it that. I simply said I agreed with the overall post. The average gamer is NOT a CoD player. 20% of the market is made up of CoD. The other 80%? Everyone else. The average gamer is not a casual player. I am not a casual player. No one on the this mod is likely to be a casual player. If the complaints and pros are 50/50 when it comes to a game, chances are high you want to change it. I'm not saying return the game back to 1.7, but at least reduce the likelihood of bleeding out or going unconscious. I'm fine with the damage, but bleeding out ever time I get attack sucks. Then there is the fact the zombies run too freaking fast, so fast you don't even hear them till they are right next to you. This game is not suppose to be Demon Souls, it's suppose to be a game where long-term survival is possible, but difficult to achieve. Not impossible. Rocket has stated he would love to promote community building, but it's nearly impossible with this new patch. I shudder to think what it would be like to try and move a group of people around zombies at the NW airfield. Nearly impossible. Tell you what, what are the good things about this update? Everyone that says this update is great doesn't have very many reasons. So bring them up people. I'm sure all of us "whinners" would love to tell you what we think of your ideas, since you seem to not present them. Not even close to impossible. Stop shouting statements like they're facts.. they're only your opinion. I don't feel it's difficult to survive at all.. and FAR from "nearly impossible". Those who constantly die with the changes are just impatient.. thats all. So far I only died once and quickly learned my lesson. It's easy to get away from the zeds now and the few bugs have already been identified. We don't need to state tons of good reasons.. all of the reasons it was good before are still there. The few changes that make it great now are the zeds behaviour, line-of-site, no starting weapon etc.. few bugs sure but it's alpha. Stop speaking like everyone agrees with you.. From what I've been reading it's pretty split down the middle on who does and doesn't love the changes. Give it a chance and time.. he doesn't have to please everyone with every change. Go play it or don't.. and see how it evolves as we go. I'm sure Rocket is going to monitor feedback very closely. IN the meantime, I love the changes.. some agree some don't. It's not like I'm entitled to the exact game I want and neither is anyone else. Just play the game or don't. So far I haven't died. I have profited from this update. Before the update I had a MP5SD (of course just notable things that I am listing). I now have the Coyote Backpack (upgrade from Alice) and a M4A3 CCO, with a lot of beautiful ammo. Seeing as you have actually died, I think you should be the one complaining. I have adapted my tactics and I can live like this, but I just don't see it possible to have a group of 50+ people working together in this. Zombies agro easier, which I have no problem with. Again, the knocking bleeding out, breaking a bone, and going unconscious part of this equation is far too high. The loot spawns are amazing, but I'm soloing everything and still having trouble from hiding from the zombies. Again, I'm fine with the damage. It's simply the idea of a permanent community that is being threatened by this patch. Going to NW airfield will yield higher casualties because zombies were already pretty difficult to deal with (you would waste a lot of ammo once you agro the zombies), then there is a the human factor all ready. Humans raised the difficulty of DayZ already, and I'm fine with that. I simply think bleeding out, breaking a bone, and going unconscious is currently too high. I haven't died yet, but these things have almost made me die. I have already adapted, but I have great weapons. I'd hate to see what happens when you don't have a silenced weapon in a military encampment. Dying is a part of the game, so I have no need to complain. And I only died once so far. I do agree that breaking bones is a little to easy.. but it's not actually the mods fault for that.. that's ARMA 2 and some of its bugs. Since I figured out the causes I haven't had it happen at all since then. AS for communities.. the more people you have, the quicker you will arm up and the less threat zombies will be due to the number of people defending. I feel that if you engage zombies in an open area outside.. you'll be overrun no matter the number. Tactics need to be used 24/7 everywhere you go.. the game is supposed to be hard.. zombies should not be push overs. Anyway.. there's lots of bugs to be fixed and they will be. But this is the right direction for sure.
