I've died multiple times and each time I went the whole day without dying. However, I never go to big cities.. easy to find small villages and deer stands. You have more then enough starting hunger/thirst to last a long time. -
Only problem with this is that user could essentially place a lot of primary weapons in toolbelt. You should barely be able to carry two unless bag is practically empty. If there' s a way to ensure only 1 is in toolbelt and cannot be exploited, I'd be down with this. Could pretend it's just on your back and so on.

Spawning in Barren Wasteland?

I'm currently running back.. another 1 or 2 hours to go! Luckily I had lots of food and water.. and there's a ton of farm animals out here! lol -
Myself and many others were randomly teleported to a barren waste' date=' which on the map was like 100 miles NW of the main map. I'm currently running back, but after an hour I'm still quite far away. :) Is this a different issue then debug forest I'm guessing? [hr'] I submitted a bug for this, seems Zombies do not spawn unless you're walking.

I'm fine with the way it is now, except for them being able to hit you through walls still. I often make it into a building well before they reach me (when detected) only to be smacked unconscious through the wall. -
Oh man, I acquired a tractor, fully repaired it, stuffed it with awesome loot and then stumbled on someone van, full of stuff and fully repaired. I relocated both extremely far into the forest.. start cooking some meat and someone came out of the middle of no where and shot me in the back with a handgun. Lol! It was fun while it lasted.. not sure how he found me, but he's enjoying a lot of gear.. Guess that's what I get for Soloing haha.. oh well time to start again. Hope whoever was on US125 enjoys that stuff. It's a regular server.. so at least now I can go to a vet server.. vehicles kept me tied down. Didn't really like name tags.. might be how he found me. Good times Btw, if you want to prone without making sound, do a circle straif type motion. Example: Up/right same time or up/left same time. Seems to work Also Hugging buildings appears to greatly improve your visibility (or lack there of)

It would be good if you could slow crawl. I think that used to work.. it's incredibly slow for traveling but it could be a good way to reduce sound to nothing when in extremely close proximity to zombies. I don't know if DayZ has any control over making it work though. Sometimes I can slow crawl and sometimes I can't. It seems random. Sometimes I can do it by looking down my weapons site first.

Date/Time: Tuesday, June 19th, 4:44am What happened: When I approach any structure or town.. or anything that usually spawns Zeds once approached.. nothing happens. Doesn't matter how long I drive around.. no zombies. If I get out of my vehicle and walk around for a bit they start spawning. This means that if I drive up to a building.. they're always empty. If I park a ways a way and walk to it stuff spawns. Kind of annoying if you're trying to park and grab. Where you were: I searched in NE Airfield, the town right beside it and a few surrounding areas/structures. What you were doing: Looking for vehicle parts to fix 2 ATV's. I was driving a tractor. :D *Current installed version: 1.7.1.5 *Server(s) you were on: US 125 *Your system specs: Intel Quad CPU q6600 @2.40GHz 2.40 GHz Ram: 8 gb 64-bit Windows 7 home premium NVidia GeForce GTX 275 Fibor Op connection *Timeline of events before/after error: I played for about 2 hours, driving all around North East side on the map. It was around 6pm EST and end around 9pm EST

I ran into this twice myself. First time, I had logged out in a barn at the top level near the window. Since my body doesn't stay for any length of time I didn't think it would be an issue. The next day I signed back in and as soon as I appeared, there was a guy looting the second level below me. I decided to test direct communication, and literally spoke 1 word into my mic and he instantly leveled his gun at me. I'm sure I just surprised him but he was aiming right at me so I didn't take a chance and took him out. I'll admit just spawning into an occupied area set me on high alert so the adrenaline was pumping. From that point I rarely log out in buildings. However, another time I had logged out in a building, and on return was promptly shot as soon as I appeared. So sometimes it's a double edged sword. I don't really have any good suggestions on how they could defeat this, except for maybe not allowing anyone to log out inside buildings? (maybe you have to be outside?) I'm not sure how that would fly with the community though. -
why do people have difficulties starting w/o weapons

[/quote'] There's a 1000 possible scenarios that "could" have happened to any individual in the event of an outbreak. Trying to rationalize why you do or don't have starting weapons is difficult and no choice will satisify everyone. Instead I think they're simply testing different starting methods and seeing how they work. Since it's an Alpha getting all of this out of the way now is a good idea. Previous to the "no starting weapon" change people played for a long time with starting gear and got a feel for it. Now it's time to try without gear for a little while and see how that feels. I personally haven't had trouble getting around or surviving starting new, in 1.7.1.5. Seems comfortable now imo. But I know not everyone is agreeing on that. A lot of this appears fixed as of 1.7.1.5. Especially the LOS of zombies. Zombies do start inside .. but they're slow and leading them outside, you can run around the building and go back in. Plus you can actually stealth by them sometimes depending on the size of the building and where they spawned. I've never even run into a coast griefer on multiple servers. I know they're there but if I get killed over and over, I'd switch servers. Either way a lot of these concerns are manageble and especially with the new hotfix. But that's just my own experience so far. -

DayZ 1.7.1.5 review and thoughts

I'm finding 1.7.1.5 to be pretty stable. The Zombies are more then managable now. You can stealth by them just find now and when you enter buildings they don't go nuts like before. I haven't been aggroing them almost at all now. The loot is spawning right and the few items that can be put in Toolbelt is saving a ton of space. I think the way it is now is perfect in my honest opinion. But I'm ok if they decide to make more changes (revert or further experimentation). I'd prefer it stayed this way though.. just enough challenge that you don't have to worry about running into people everywhere due to the caution involved with getting around now. I think there's more reason to team up now too. Helping each other to get armed and keep stats up (hunger, thirst, etc). Maybe once armed they might turn on each other.. but possible they can gain trust before that point. -

True and at least you're being honest that you're here to game. I agree most people definitely are. However, I don't believe they opened up the Alpha to the community just for gaming (probably one reason) but more so that they could employ large amounts of people to speed up testing and development. They simply may not have predicted the popularity the mod would invoke.
