OP, you don't know much about game development do you? In early development stages, releasing patches that create new bugs is intrinsic within it. What you're seeing with DayZ is completely normal. -

They never said they'd be adding cooking/hunting in this patch. They did however say they'd add fire, so that's slightly disappointing, but I've faith we'll get these things on time (Q1 2014) -
Maybe like, 1 year after Dayz comes out, then they could start dedicating time, manpower and resources to a Mac version.

So what we saw in 0.44 experimental is basically be all that we see tomorrow in stable? Or will new stuff be added on top of that? Was kinda hoping for fires and stuff.

People saying the game is wrecked or broken, well of course it is, it's in fucking alpha.

Yeah, pretty much, it doesn't just render night time pointless, but it ruins the experience for any who want to play properly.

Even though I think night should appear completely realistic, I'm not happy with it either, it just looks a bit weird, the colour bit-depth looks bizarre, the sky looks weirdly bright, but provides no light, and it should just been slightly lighter in general, to account for ambient light, and moonlight.

I stumbled upon this place with a friend after hours of trekking through Chernarus. We didn't know what it was, just some kind of abandoned communications tower, long forsaken in the apocalyptic wilderness. It felt desolate, remote, and quiet, too quiet. We ventured toward the tower, our efforts fueled with intrigue and interest, for what reason, we cannot say. Something drew us there, that's for sure.

There are tons of forest, my most prominent memory of the game is running through endless fucking woodland without civilisation for miles.

Why KoS is the way to go in certain cases

I haven't read your post, but I'm pretty sure no one is disputing that KoS is useful in some select instances. Just as it sometimes used in a real-life conflict or fire-fight. -
Basically what Katana said. A few small towns and villages, and maybe one large city to rival Electro and Cherno in those spots at the north, and all should be well.

For now, it looks generally great. I am happy with the visibility of day and night, more or less, but I think it needs enhancing a little indirectly, as in, with equipment and items. There should be more textures that reflect, emit or amplify dynamic and ambient light, and maybe places with substantial local light, like street lights for example. Also torches and gaslamps need to have increased light output, and generate more ambient light on the local surroundings. -

Too bad you think that, because it's coming in. Guys, watch the roadmap, he explains persistent objects and base building and says roughly when they're both being released.

No I haven't, but this game may follow a slightly different path to the mod, and I said lessened, unless you've got statistics proving the average KOS occurrence is equal in standalone and the mod, you can't invalidate my argument.

Persistent Objects isn't base building. It is a separate mechanic, PO will come in this yearly quarter, proper mechanics for base construction won't be around until the next quarter at the very least.
