  1. I don't mean motorcycles, just plain ordinary push bikes. Just for a few reasons: 1) You are still vunerable using one, but for some it would help with long runs between towns, which at the moment can be the tedious part of the game (in some places, there are exceptions) 2) I understand cars etc would be very rare, being complex machines but push-bikes are simple and I would imagine in a poor rural area like this there would be plenty of them laying around. 3) If they need repairing, it would be simple things like new tyres or chains which could be salvaged from supermarkets and the like. 4) They arn't in any way good tactically, so its not unbalancing or giving players an unstoppable warrior-car. 5) The consequence of using them is simply you are a bigger target, they don't do off road that well, and you would be best to stick to the roads. Personally I like hoofing it around, but there have been occasions where I (and im sure others) have thought 'I'd kill for -anything- to go a little faster'.

If You Could Add 1 Weapon to DayZ...

FN P-90 TR, sexy little SMG with armor peircing rounds as standard. Would be as rare as rocking horse shite though, especially with its funky little horizontal mags.

    Cities too Easy?

Cities are dangerous enough, and its not Zack that makes it deadly.

    CROSSBOWS - Your opinion?

The one time I used a crossbow, through a sheer lucky shot it ended up inbedded in a survivors face. Glorious weapon.
  5. You lost my interest when you said 'World of Warcraft' and 'Starcraft' were boring and un-original. Games with extremely detailed backstories, lore etc etc. Considering DayZ consists entirely of a pastiche of B-Movie zombie films (to use your logic) Self-gratifying soapbox rant. Oh and that Medieval game you mentioned already exists, called Mount and Blade.

    Comparison with COD

You really have no idea  Sorry Grey, can't be bothered reading your post, not your fault but Bayers lack of sense has numbed my interest in continuing the debate. Pig headed ignorance is a wonderful trait.

    Comparison with COD

To be fair, Napoleon was a charismatic, extremely intelligent man and great leader. Hardly a fair comparision.

    Comparison with COD

Quality in the entertainment world, be it books, games, movies etc is entirely subjective to ones own opinions. Some people think Citizen Kane is the best film ever made, I think its boring as shit. Everyone has their own tastes, and if a company manages to make something massivly popular its not just the "Lowest denominator" (nice little thinly veiled insult), it's a case of making something popular and of good quality to a large spread of people. Good quality because people are demanding, not because they are stupid enough to accept sub-standard. Derpyderp you have a fail argument.

    Comparison with COD

Pff.. please. Not quite sure why you replied to that point specifically but i'm glad Bayers that Arma holds such glee for you, even though I didn't bring that into question at all. Good times.

    Comparison with COD

What I dont get is why everyone things COD is shit, yet it's a meelyon-meelyon dollar franchise, and extremely popular with numerous recognised awards. Sure, it has its flaws, but it must be doing something right. It's the same elitism that thinks World of Warcraft player are all slackjawed 12 year olds with diabetes and foul mouths. Yet WoW has millions of players, granted its a bit like crack cocaine but still. Just because something is popular, and some of the players are mongs, doesn't mean that everyone is like that. I play COD, well used too before I got a bit bored of it. I play WoW too because It's laid back and good to waste time. I'm nearly 30 and a professional, in fact im sat at my desk now because i've done my work for the week and can afford to spend time pissing about on a forum. So please stop being hipsters, just because you like something niche doesn't make you better people. That stick wedged up your arse does not give you the right to look down on other players, if anything it makes you seem quite pathetic. Not everyone that fires a gun at you is a mindless 'Call o dooty' player, and to be fair, you probably deserved it.

    Opt-in for group spawn

What's to stop one of the people capping you all at the spawn?

    Wanted! dead Bandits

I'll make you a little sherrif badge, just so I can take it off your dead body.

    Wanted! dead Bandits

Even as a Bandit I like this idea, being an outlaw is cool

    Storyline/Prologue

Was about to show an interest, then you spoiled it with random sexism :/

    Co-op servers

Sadly ArmA2's inherent AI just wont make the Zombies deadly enough to be a proper threat as all they do is run towards you, they will still not be able to run inside buildings, still have to do the attack anim. Good idea overall, but with some system limitation issues.
  17. There shouldn't be trust between random people you run into anyway, you have to earn it, thats the suspenseful part...

    Play recordings

Or you could just use an external recording program with a hotkey for when you want to start/finish recording. That would do pretty much the same thing? I mean yes, COD has something similar but the engine was probably designed with that built in. I imagine it would be a real issue putting that into ARMA2's already ageing engine.
  19. Why we have Bandits An Essay by LondonHyena, age 28 and 3/4. Note: This is an opinion, my opinion, please don't get a rage-boner Before I go into too much depth I want all the stoic anti-bandit Survivors to picture this: So you win the argument and Bandits dissapear, PVP as you know it ends and rainbows and zombie-kittens parade across the landscape. You join a new server with a few friends and start from the beginning, you gather your supplies with ease in the large cities, popping off Zack when he shows his head with ease with good co-ordination. Aside from a hilarious mishap where another Survivor mistook you for Zack (which of course did no harm) there's no incident. In fact now there's no one shooting you, you get your maps and compasses with ease and make your way up north with your Winchesters and optimism of the adventure to come, shoving whatever you come across in your ALICE. Along the way you stop off at a Barn, and due to a mishap one of your friends gets his head eaten. 'Not to worry!' you think 'He can just come meet us up here, no worries about being shot now!'. As you head north, quaffing your bottles of water, you end up at the airfield and grab yourself some nice hardware, a few rifles and even a SAW! Zack wont stand a chance now. Eventually you cross the map, raining down lead death on your undead foe leaving nothing standing in your wake, you even have the time to fix up a car since you no longer have to worry about getting the bits for it without getting picked off. As the days progress, you get your helicopter fixed up and amass enough gear to keep a civil war going forever, but your numbers are starting to thin. Some people are complaining that the games got dull. A few people have deliberatly respawned to try and catch that thrill once more of getting new things, but its just not as good. Gradually each day there seems to be fewer and fewer servers, more empty slots appearing on them. Zack is still around but now picking on him seems more like a chore then a challenge, you spend all day sitting in the middle of a field feeling completely safe. Finally, one day, its enough. The games become dire, there is no sense of reward anymore. You log off, and play something more rewarding. --- This is why Bandits, those players that you hate, that hunt you down and keep you miserable are required. Without them, you would have no challenge aside from Zack (who lets be honest, with a bit of skill isn't that threatening). You would have no issues getting the best gear, and in theory could stay alive indefinetly. Everything in this game is mostly player driven, including the risk to your life. While you may protest against it, want to slap penalties against people that have the audacity to shoot you, those scornful people that take away all your hard earned gear... you need that. You need to die now and then, you need the risk of losing everything in a brief few seconds to keep you driven, to keep you watchful and actually interested in the game. As awful as it is, those deathmatches in the coast, the snipers in the North are what drive you to keep playing. Reward only comes with Risk, without it you are basically just being given everything on a silver platter and left to shoot at mindless AI that is predictable and dull. So please, remember while you sit on the forums demanding that Bandits be given things like longer spawn times, less gear, harsher penalties.. you are only punishing those that continue to make your game unpredictable and in a twisted way, enjoyable.

    CoD Zombie Mode!

I think i'll copy your post into every other thread on here about PVP' date=' sums it up well. [/quote'] Dammit LondonHyena I feel I'm being completely misrepresented here, I LIKE PvP, that's a big part of the appeal of Day Z. What I don't like is the fact that there is now no reason whatsoever to engage with anyone in the game outside of TS and Mumble buddies - 'cause you can bet your bottom dollar that if anyone sees you they will fucking murder you just because they can. E.g I was running past Kamenka yesterday with a couple of zombies after me and someone did a spray n pray with a silenced MG, and failed at that. But why? Deaths are now CoD-lite arbitrary, you go anywhere near a town or people anywhere, and they will kill you. Finito. You're not being misrepresented. In fact its the complete opposite. Why? Because everything you have said, has been said again in countless other thread. There is a huge thread at the top called the PVP thread that goes on for dozens of pages That is why everyone is being dismissive, because it's been heard so many times its drilled into our heads to the point that any other person adding to it becomes little more then noise. I'm sorry you do not feel you are being represented correctly, but for gods sake, appreciate that its become a repetition exercise for most of us.

    Psychology of the Murderer.

I actually think it would be nice if the game rewarded team play, maybe increased loot spawns, I dont know how it would work technically. The thing is, if you want to reward people you cant make it survivor only, you have to reward EVERYONE for working together. Be it murderous bandits grouping up to bumfuck everyone, or survivors skipping off to plant teamwork-flowers. All sides need to be fair mechanically.
