How to be a REAL bandit (and not a noob camping pussy) ------------------------------------------------------- Alright, so I have found there are two types of bandit. You have the ones that do nothing but sit in the first coastal towns killing new players for beans and Makarov rounds and scavving anything else they can find. They are dicks, this much I know is true. The second is the type I am, I don't sit in one place just waiting for people to come, I have a certain system of places I go through for supplies and if a survivor is there too...well. A few pointers below. 1 - Assess your target. In the sense of don't just shoot the first survivor you see, take a second to see what weapons he has slung on his back or in his hands, is it a makerov or something low value like a winchester? If the answer is yes, the chances are they have nothing of real worth on them, the only time you would want to slot someone like that is if you yourself are missing the most rudimentary gear (map/compass). If he has a higher tier weapon, how is he using it? Is he focusing on killing zombies or doing his best to avoid them all together, how distracted would he be if you started firing on them? 2 - Watch your target. You can get a lot of information just by taking a few moments to see what they are up too. If they are slowly moving through town, peeking into buildings you have yourself someone who is either exploring or desperate for something and may be low on health. On the other hand, if they are running through or avoiding contact, chances are they are on the move to another destination and could be tailed. Try not to engage a moving target at distance, as they can easily evade you as you are aiming unless you have an exceptional aiming ability. 3 - Prepare your target. Right, so we have seen someone who looks like they have a good weapon and is scouting around looking for goodies. There is no point in immediately blazing in and murdering him, especially if there are Zeds present. Just following him with your crosshair, see if he's going to be coming up to any groups of zombies or a barrier thats going to require their attention. 4 - Kill your target. This one should be simple, if you have had followed the steps correctly, you've already given yourself a big advantage and have a tactical/situational edge over them. You are prepared for it, they are not. The chances are they will either freeze and drop to the ground like a rabbit in headlights, or evade you. If they evade you have a choice, if the risk isn't too great then by all means chase them but DONT GET GREEDY. If they are in a town with Zeds, dont run the risk of getting a swarm after you, let them go or see if they bleed out. If they are behind heavy cover, dont let yourself fall into an ambush by running straight at them, flank around the target, try to come from the side or better behind if they are camping there. 5 - Relocate! Once you have shot them, kill or no kill, move to a new location. They may have friends in the area, or they might spam your location in side chat along with numerous different expletives. Exfiltrate the point you are in and find somewhere new. If it is in a large town, move to the other end or side of it, if it is the airfield head to another part of it, do not shoot from the same point twice. 6 - YOU ARE A SURVIVOR TOO! If you want to play properly, and not be one of those idiots who kill in the starter towns with little regards for life or death of their characters, play like one. If you need food, try to shoot an animal in the wilderness. Not only is it better for you (the cooked meat), but you will be further away from players who are hunting in buildings for tins of pasta. If you need water, try to refill bottles in a lake instead of having to go looking for cans. You cannot rely on people for help, not until they take bandit skins out, and if you have a name for yourself then you must consider that you are on your own. So act like you are the last man alive, trust no one, expect none back. You are a cruel survivor, but still a survivor nontheless.
