    Universal server time

    My understanding is, that it all relies on very precise timing, and that changing it currently completely screws it up. While I am sure it is possible, I imagine it would require a massive overhaul in the way the loot is handled, and at this stage in development I don't think such a massive re haul would be beneficial just to stop people only playing daytime servers. But I am no expert on DayZ's code, I am just going on what rocket has said in the past.

    Whilst interesting, I imagine any death stats will be skewed by people spamming respawn when they die to get a better spawn position, just like the average survival time is probably skewed by this. They are probably also altered by people committing suicide after getting away from a fight but deciding there injuries are not worth fixing and respawning is better. Not to mention all the people who break there legs due to bugs or otherwise get injured through bugs and commit suicide. So whilst these stats are interesting, and I do agree people think there is a bigger "bandit problem" than there is, there are so many factors that shift the results massively it is not really very reliable.

    Universal server time

    Whilst the skipTime function does work in regular Arma Missions, rocket has stated before the way DayZ handles loot spawning and zombie spawning make any other time except 1x impossible. And as other people stated locking all the servers to one universal time mean some people will never see DayZ in the daytime, or never see it in the nighttime.

    Not so Enjoyable.

    About finding which direction to go, you can observe the sun bearing in mind it rises in the east and sets in the west, as long as you know what timezone your server is in you don't need a watch. So if its before midday the direction the sun is, is east, after midday it's west. Also the night sky is accurate, so you can locate the north star. But I understand that may be difficult/impossible depending on your personal skill with it, so a easy but less precise way. Watch where you first spawn, if it is says any spawn location, except three valleys, eg Kamenka, Electro, then put your back to the coast the way you are facing is now north. If you spawn at three valleys put your back to the coast you are now facing west ( as it is on the east coast). To easily loose zombies do this; Run through any dense bushy area and make sure you put 2 pieces of cover, Ie bushes trees, between you and the zombie after you get through the second piece, crouch and walk slowly away. The first bush breaks line of sight, the second bush stops the zombie reacquiring line of sight when it bursts through, and by crouch walking the zombie won't be able to hear you. If you carry on sprinting as is probably instinct it will quickly find you again. I would recommend avoiding towns, and instead hitting barns/deer-stands to start, at least until you have some means to protect yourself. When in towns, try to keep 15m from zombies. If you double tap - on the numpad it will zoom out slightly, giving you an increased field of view which can be vital to spot zombies in towns. Also keep an eye on the blurry white dots on the side of the screen, these simulate "peripheral vision" due to a monitor inherently limited FOV. Also never, ever walk anywhere there even may be a zombie, or player to a certain extent. If you crouch walk/run it is slower but will decrease the chance of something spotting you. A few tips for your inevitable PvP encounter as well. Always try to stay in the tree lines, hedgerows when out in the country side and move slowly in towns peaking round corners, that will reduce the chance of someone spotting you. If you have to cover open ground, sprint and zigzag erratically, also if someone shoots at you do this. If you stop even for a second, or god forbid lie down they will kill you. But hitting a fast randomly moving target at range is going to be more difficult for them and you will be more likely to get out alive.And if you ever get in a team, make sure you are not all bunched up, spread out and don't walk in a single column. All watch different directions. And it only takes one person to loot a building, 2 at most for larger ones, so get the others to watch different angles. I can't tell you how many times I have wiped a team out easily because they all stand close together and don't watch more than one direction, or because they all crammed into a tiny building. The phrase "Shooting fish in a barrel" comes to mind. There pro tips for pretty much the entirety of DayZ. If you want any more pro tips, just PM me.

    Server Incentive/ Profit Increase

    PrivateDB servers exist (Non-hive), and you can do what the fuck you like on them. I am not going to link them in this thread, because I am pretty sure rocket doesn't like them. I will however point you too Google, I am sure you can figure out the rest. Instead of ranting on the forums for something that rocket has said before he has no plans of changing, and spent literally 5 minutes on Google you could have found out what you needed to know to about how make a PrivateDB server. This would have saved you time as you wouldn't have had to rant and argue for 3 pages, and would have saved me time having to write this post.

    Searching a player's name and finding their server?

    He is 100% correct. You can easily change your name as much as you like, and there is no way to determine what server someone is in without manually viewing the players in each of them.
  7. This is already happening with servers that have a privateDB, and I don't understand people who say "No" with no reason at all. You don't have to play "unranked" servers, you can just pretend they don't exist. They are not going to affect anyone on ranked servers. If you still want the "true" DayZ experience stick to the ranked ones. But then people who want it slightly different; say there are people who want full deathmatch with no cooperative play at all they can find that, people who want no PvP they can find that, people who want a more "hardcore RP" experience they can find that. This is already happening, albeit unofficially, so why not officially support it. Not to mention it would cut down on people complaining on the forums massively.

    Defibrillator

    In real life you can't use a defibrillator on someone whose heart has stopped. The whole purpose of a defibrillator is too induce asystole ( Flat lining , Ie heart stoppage) so their heart can resume a normal beating rhythm on its own. If your heart is either stopped or not suffering from a irregular beating pattern, that often come with heart attacks, it will either 1. Do nothing or 2. Kill you, despite what popular culture would have you believe. If in these "real life" examples you are talking about someone used a defibrillator on someone whose heart had stopped that person would continue to have no heart beat.

    Defibrillator

    Unless you are having a heart attack, using a defibrillator is going to kill you. Despite what media would have you believe, it is not a magic cure all. It basically only works if you heart is quivering irregularly (fibrillation) by forcing the heart to momentarily stop so it can resume a normal rhythm by itself. If you get shot enough to die and thus warrant some kind of resurrection, you are going to need a trained trauma team, a fully equipped surgery room to have any chance. I don't think this fits in with the atmosphere of the mod at all. In an otherwise mostly "realistic" and harsh world an almost pseudo magically item to bring you back to life after suffering multiple bullet wounds or zombie bites seems incredibly out of place.
  10. Care to explain how Arma is a failing game? Yes it is a niche game, but despite that it is still successful. It has delivered a massive scope of possible game play since 2001 and is now approaching its 4th iteration, not counting stand alone expansions, eg Op Arrowhead. Arma 3 was announced long before DayZ. So please do elaborate how a game series that has survived for 10 years with regular patches and additions, despite being a niche game, is a "failing series".
  11. I only kill for loot, and I am sure I am not the only one. And it is not just the weapon, if there was such a place as the OP suggested that gave out all kinds of rare loot I guarantee people would kill people for it. Also it is always nice to have a good backup weapon in your bag and to collect weapons and store them in a tent. Also even assuming that snipers are only interested in the kill, it would still create a focal point on the map where a lot of players congregate meaning an easy supply of "kills" for said sniper. An idea meant to encourage team play and reduce KOS and banditry is not going to work if it creates an area full of people and loot ripe for the picking. If you are presented with 2 options to get something you want, one requires a not insubstantial amount of risk and is time consuming and another requires very little risk and is quick, most people will pick the later option.
  12. Ignoring the fact that punishing/rewarding one style of gameplay over another is never going to happen. If this did happen there is a large problem, you touched on this a bit saying how "dogtags" wouldn't be lootable to stop bandits abusing the system, I can just sit on a hill 1km away with a sniper rifle and as the players walk out with there shiny new weapon I could drop them and collect that shiny new weapon for myself. This would then lead to people avoiding these areas as they would become even bigger hot spots for murder than anything currently around. You are creating an area where bandits will know they can get guaranteed loot with minimal work.
  13. I am sorry but how exactly does killing another player make me scum? If I see someone who has something I need and they are stupid enough to put themselves in a position to get killed, then what do they expect. The best solution to not dying from other players is too play a little more intelligently and tactically. Not blanket insulting a large number of players on the forums and throwing a little temper tantrum.

    Direct chat: Will only be heard by people nearby Group chat: Heard by people in your group, currently obsolete in dayz as each player is in a group on there own. Side chat: Everyone on your side (everyone in DayZ) can hear this but most servers now have this options disabled Also use / to talk in any channel but direct, VOIP in anything but direct chat is frowned upon and most people will probably ignore you. (I have it turned off so I wouldn't even hear you, I suspect some people have done the same)

    Friendly Fire Off Servers

    This has been suggested many times, and rocket has said many times PvP, currently, is an integral part of the game. Also Arma 2 is a mil sim friendly fire being always on is something you have to deal with, even outside DayZ.

    Add a bullet-proof vests

    Correct me if I am wrong, but no current bullet proof vest can stop a high caliber bullet, such as that from a military grade sniper. They are only effective against guns with a lower caliber or lower muzzle velocity. So in keeping with the whole feeling of authenticity that wouldn't really fit, if I shoot you with my .50cal anti material rifle, you should go down regardless of what you are wearing. Best way to combat snipers is not too be seen.

    Paypal donation for what? DayZ doesn't accept donations at the moment. I heard rocket likes Pepsi though, so you could always post him some of that.

    Where the fuck am I?

    If you head south east for a while (a long while) you will get back onto the map, otherwise you will have to respawn. And if you have no compass, either at night time find the north star, which is probably hard unless you know what you are looking for. Or in the day the sun rises in the east sets in the west, so that will give you a rough idea of which way to go.

    There are not as a many, zombies only spawn around structures. So whilst they are fewer structures away from town you will still get zombies near, for example, deer stands.

    +1 By far the best suggestion for this game so far, in fact I think this feature is good enough to be a stand alone mod in its own right.

    Loot

    That isn't true, loot spawns work on probability, with a different percentage chance of different things spawning. Sometimes you will find loads of loot, sometimes you will find nothing but tin cans.

    Press F. Also play the gorram tutorials, or at least read the controls. It really isn't hard.

    Crawl inside towns, avoid the big towns. Look for barns and deer stands they often have a weapon in and there are less zombies and players near them. And if you must walk near the coast get into the forest just off them, just watch out for nooblets sniping at new spawns from there. Also if a zombie sees you the best way to break line of sight run through 2 bushes, then crouch walk. The first bush breaks line of sight but the zombie will still run through it, as you now have a second one between you it wont regain line of sight and as you are crouched and moving slowly it wont hear you and come crashing through.
