    Zombies - getting infected

You're right and everyone who read the description of the game on steam before buying won't argue with that. But one thing seems to be ignored by many people who also have your opinion: that an infection would only enhance the factor of survival and interacting with other people. "Survivial and interaction" are determined by what? The game's eviroment creating certain situations. Now I don't need to tell you about the impact an infection would have on those two since it's pretty clear. The capabilites and eventualities would add immensly to the gameplay. I'm not saying you do that but many people use that as a shield ("it's not about zombies") while in fact an infection would greatly improve the part of interaction and survival. On the other hand, almost every game with zombies is not about killing them but surviving in the long run and to assume that the team won't eventually come around to do that right is pretty ridiculous. As said in another post, without proper zombies (and they'll never be with dayz's military focus unless you have a reason to fear them[infection])this game will never be a true suvival game but remain a huge pvp arena with a survival aspect. The latter is obvously not their intention, so it remains to be seen how this will turn out once it's considered finished or a "stable release". In the end it's called dayZ and not dayS

    Zombies - getting infected

Having no infection in this game is both unrealistic(you are immune! and you are immune! everybody's immune!) and keeping the game from being a "zombie" survival game. Thing is, infection would be based on RNG right? So you have maybe a let's say 5% chance of getting infected on hit. I seriously don't know why people would be against this since we all are quite accustomed to dying out of various reasons pretty quickly. Many of our characters didn't last long anyway so this wouldn't make much of a difference on that side but one hell of a difference when it comes to atmosphere and gameplay. Once the survival aspect has been build up and we are able to barricade, being infected would add a lot of situations to the game that add to the gameplay. It also would turn zombies somehow significant. Right now they're nothing more than a trash mob you can axe/gun away like nothing. And that will never change unless people have a reason to avoid them. And with dayz's military focus this probably won't ever happen. My worst fear is that it will stay a PvP arena with npc mobs that are a nuisance and not a threat. It's about potential and creating new situations for players. And infection is just the thing to do that. Edit: the fact that so many people suggest it shows that many people want it and I don't think It's easy to say "it's never going to happen". Things will get implemented and the state of the game will shift and old ideas/things that are still being suggested are going to be considered then that are not being considered now.

    ArmA 3 Stances in DayZ

There should be an option to hit the deck when running. Currently your guy stops, crouches and then lies down. Which is obviously retarded. Throwing yourself to the ground while running is a basic thing that should definitely find it's way into the game. Especially with the military focus of dayZ. All the cool kids are doing it.

    Throw yourself to the ground

Hey guys, I'd be stupid to assume that no one suggested this before but I could't find anything with the search function so here I go. What I suggest is being able to throw yourself to the ground when running. Right now the character stops, chrouches and then lies down. That's about it already. I think that's a pretty obvious thing that adds to the realism and somehow I believe it's something Bohemia considered already anyway.

    why do YOU play DayZ?

I know that feeling OP. Thing is you're able to gear up in about an hour and that's about it with looking for loot. Maybe there's a gun you still want but that's it. Hunger and thirst are no problem yet so "survival" is not really a reason for me at least. There's also the military focus of dayz. In it's current state it's not a survival game but a military survival game(obviously because of it's roots in arma2). And that kinda makes it boring for me sometimes. Military equipment is way too easy gathered and the rest of the tools are quite useless so I end. You can really smell the military atmosphere and that is in my opinion the one major limitation in dayz's evolution that will probably never get out of the way. I don't think there'll ever be "normal" people in "normal" clothing, armed only with baseball bats and other tools, desperately trying to survive - except for the ones who do RP. Anyway, I still play around 2-3 hrs a day since exploring never gets old for me. I also play with a friend and that boosts the fun a lot.

DayZ should always be about survival...

I think being able to hold a place with barricades would add something to the gameplay value. Let's say some people barricade themselves somewhere significant and thus others would team up to get to that place. i.e an airfield that to some degree has been taken and barricaded or a part of a town. Together with "loot respawn" and "one-character per server/set spawn points", once they are implemented, this would create a lot of new situations for players to adapt to and, imo, multiply the fun. It also adds to the realism and contrary to what some people believe - it would create much more immersion. Personally, I wouldn't settle somewhere though. I've always been and probably will be a forest guy.
