    See, I don't get this either. I tried that once before and couldn't get the glass doors to break after like 5-6 cans. Maybe it's because I wasn't hitting straight enough, it's somewhat annoying your character fires it off at a 45 degree angle like a trebuchet rather than in the general vicinity of what you're aiming at.
  3. Didn't Rocket say he plans to have an axe for melee and add the old tool slot hatchet back in for gathering wood? Was hoping that went into the hotfix last night, having to choose between a hatchet or a primary weapon sucks.
  4. I've yet to find a way to sneak into town without being detected short of only playing at night time. So... I guess that was one way to even out the load between day/night servers?

Why would anybody remain friends for years with somebody who threatened to murder them on a regular basis?

    You're... kind of a self righteous prick and a terrible friend if you want to end a friendship with somebody you knew prior to Day Z just because they like killing randoms in a video game. Seriously, not even trying to troll, but that's just... abnormal. Disconnecting to avoid death is lame, but seriously... cutting ties with him for it? You don't find that a wee bit extreme? How long have you known this person? I've gotten into fist fights with friends before and we've gotten over it and went back to normal, this is like some female-on-her-period level grudge shit right here.

    Hatchet can no longer be in tool slot

    Either add another item that fulfills the role of the old tool hatchet or make the current hatchet take up less backpack space, please. At the very least change it so it uses the secondary slot; lugging it around in your weapon slot means you're dead the first time you run into a hostile player with a proper primary.
  9. Ah, man. I was really looking forward to trying this out. Hopefully the crashing issue gets sorted soon. On the plus side, my FPS seemed solid again.

    Getting banned for finding a hacked weapon on a dead body is kind of shitty, honestly. I play with a few friends and I'm the only one who reads the forum, otherwise I'd have no idea finding one of these is grounds for a ban... and I've already stumbled across a hacked weapon on a dead guy at Balota airstrip.

    I hope so; melee is desperately needed now with the lack of a starting gun. Also it would be awesome if it was feasible to sneak up on zombies and kill them stealthily with it.
  16. I was hiding in the belfry of a barn yesterday when a survivor with a makarov snuck in through the door. All I could hear was my character's heartbeat pounding while I lay there watching him and hoping he wouldn't think to look up. It was like something out of a horror movie.

I posted my displeasure about this in the other thread, but yes, I think the night is too dark most of the time and it's only gotten worse now that zombies spot you from further away even in the dark. People starting with flashlights was a step in the right direction, although it's still a massive beacon to anybody nearby - last night I was trying to sneak through a town while only occasionally clicking on the light when I was hopelessly lost (which was most the time, as it was pitch black, but I was inching my way forward) and ended up getting shot from who knows where while in the process of trying to cross the street. I'd prefer it if it was at least semi-feasible to find your way around open areas without the need of a light, while still needing a light source to see things once you actually go indoors or into a forest. I don't know how feasible that is, though. From what I've seen the darkness doesn't take your surroundings into account at all; buildings aren't darker than fields, etc. Everything is the same brightness level, which is usually either so bright you barely need to turn up your gamma or so dark you can't see anything no matter what.
  18. It's an overload of difficulty all at once that's the problem right now, I think. We have: -Smarter zombies which are harder to avoid (being able to avoid them seems bugged, as I've had times I can duck behind a shed and lose them and others where they're flat out impossible to shake and chase me until I die) -Starting with no gun, which does add a lot of tension, but is made more frustrating by the above and... -the spawn rate of basic necessities seems to have plummeted through the floor. Being on the verge of starvation should never happen if you've looted a town, you should be able to come up with at least one or two cans of food as a reward. It's the combination of these factors which is upsetting many people, and the game would likely be perfectly fine if just one of them was fixed. My vote would go toward increasing the drop rate again, as that would retain the difficulty in scavenging towns while making it worth the risk.
  19. My complaint is the extreme nerf that the loot tables seem to have received. After spending the better part of three hours searching for food or water, I got curious and did a little experiment after logging out in the supermarket in Chernogorsk... between 8 different low pop servers I did not find one single can of food or drink in it. Eight. Frigging. Times. As someone said, there's hard, and then there's stupid. I've nearly died from thirst twice while looking for a gun now.
  20. I'd say the fact that almost every server is largely abandoned come night time says a lot about how fun most people find it. I think they ought to make it brighter or speed up the day/night cycle. Leave a "vanilla" option for those wanting to run servers with oldschool night mode, that way everybody wins. I can see the appeal that putting on NVGs and gunning down survivors who have no chance of defending themselves might have to a lot of people, but it doesn't really make for good gameplay for one side of that equation.
