colt python vs repeater for cherno killing
GrandHeron replied to Osprey98's topic in General Discussion
It is reliable. Ammo for it is abundant. It is precise. Rate of fire is a bit weak. I think it is a good mid range weapon. Would let it go for a SKS or a Mosin. But it's all about personnal opinion. -
2 Qs: Door states random? Item respawn?
GrandHeron replied to Ugly (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Door state is random although pretty much all doors are open I think. Now, you get suspicious around closed door, even more if it is locked and run away if you hear crazy laughing (caused by a prion found in raw human meat). -
The fun part is gearing up anyway. Once geared, it is time to gamble it with some adventures!

Some players are nice though. For those who aren't so nice, I have found a way to "intimidate" wich is pretty funny and truly liberate the spirit : You start acting like a crazy mofo, and I mean real crazy. For example: I start running at them with a banana raised or anything inoffensive while growling non-sense (I "sing" metal from time to time) about voices telling me to give them a fresh soul to feast upon. I'd say that it has been pretty efficient so far.

IS THIS A NEW THING!? I am running out of pants...
GrandHeron replied to harley001's topic in General Discussion
Isn't it the dream of many cloistered teenagers to get their pants ripped off like that? -
I ain't walking to save dem shoes nor cool maself off, I walk for dat swagger it gives you.

Yeah you're right! ... I think. Wasn't he the scientist with a possible cure to all of it?

Well I tried a few times approaching people on airfields, doing the "friendly dance" as I was getting closer. Those who didn't start shooting at me the minute they've seen me was only to wait for me to turn my back on them. After that, I just avoided any encounters on said field as I don't like engaging combat first because I rather get away with what I have then risking loosing it. I suppose experiences kinda forge the way each player tend to play.

There is no humanity in military bases, it's either looting or getting looted. Every encounter I had in such places ended with the shedding of blood, without me necesseraly initiating the combat.

Nah, everyone loves that large areas got absolutely nothing and few spots got overloads of stuff....It will get fix somehow sometime.

I don't mind struggling to stay alive, it's part of what makes DayZ fun, it's just that having to take a dip under the rain naked to cool down might be pushing a little bit far. Should have died of hypothermia doing that xD

If a zombie apocalypse would really occur irl, a lot of people would die in such shamefull ways don't you think? If it can cheer you up, last time I died was from running down a hill then slide like those olympic ski jumpers onto glitchy rocks, the reception was my demise.
-
I regret all those times I was fully geared and thought it would be faster to just climb down that ladder on top of a building to finally end up either dead or crippled and doomed to roll my way down the next life...

When I first started playing, I used to join deserted servers, just to get used to the controls, practice with melee weapons and guns to understand the mechanics, explore the map to acquire a sense of familiarity all over Chernarus and how to deal with zombies (you can just lure them in a house and close all exit doors) in a way that they become an annoyance more than a threat as other players tend to be the real menace to your survival. Once you feel comfortable enough you can join busier servers and gain experience dealing with other survivors. Worked for me though.

How do I not panic/shake when I get in a gunfight?
GrandHeron replied to cheeseburger8's topic in New Player Discussion
A little polishing the manpole before playing surely breaks the tension, if you know what I mean ^^ -
Considering that I had to dive in a pond and chill in it for about 10 mins without any clothes on to go from "overheating" to "hot", I'd say that it could be a little bit easier. I drank on top of that 3 full canteens and 4-5 soft drinks under the rain to barely see the overheating status go a little paler. Then I went looking for a body of water to dive in. Maybe that server was set on "as hot as a volcano" idk.

Yes, hunger keeps rising until a black hole takes form where your belly bottom is and swallow your body into oblivion. In other words: Yes, you will eventually die from starvation. To accelerate the process, you might want to look for a cliff and roll down from it.

Maturity depends on the experience you have, not the age you are. Some 30 years old are more childish than some 22 years old. Maturity tends to grow along with the age just because you gain more experience. So I would consider immature looking down on anyone yonger then me as everyone, no matter its age, have something to teach. And that's because everyone has it's own set of experience that differs from one person to another.

I think it would be great to add a way to select what kind of weapons are present in a server (as I would love to play in a melee weapons only server just to feel constantly the joy of shoving a bayonnette in someone's face). A little bit like the good ol' Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64. It would make different dynamics in the game...imagine a "no weapon" server where everyone can only punch one another. Idk, just a thought I wanted to share as I think it would give different dimensions to the game. I don't have my server, so I have no clue how it works and if it could even be possible to put in place.

Loot Availability discussion: Reality
GrandHeron replied to Whyherro123's topic in General Discussion
Given the actual density of zombies, I feel like most the citizens just ran the f**k away from the region. With that in mind, clothes should be present in everyhouse in quantities way higher than what we currently see (considering that every player only owns one set of clothes) and guns should be way rarer (what kind of people would leave the town without its weapons during a zombie apocalypse ?!?) . I agree that food should'nt be this abundant given its value during the postapocalyptic period. But as we spawn with a hunger issue right away, food HAS TO be abundant to give every player a shot in surviving, especially in a well populated server. I'll be ok with hard to find food when I'll be able to wat the fruits from the shtload of trees all around Berezino that are gathered like it's an orchard. I think hunting will be useful as a way to be independant of looting houses after the gathering of a minimal gear. What is beeing said next is not suited for sensible people: Shouldn't we also be able to gut the people we kill so we can eat their meat? We've all heard/read/seen true stories of people that survived by cannibalizing the dead -
As I have no friends irl I don't really have a choice but to play lone-wolf mode :( I do love playing solo as it gives a deeper feeling of the survival. Actually, I am a little bit paranoid all the time, sounding the area (WHY DOES THE WIND SOUNDS LIKE IT MAKES FOOTSTEPS), hiding and scouting for way too long before engaging myself in a city. As 95% of all the times I've teamed up with some random guy ended with me beeing either ambushed or shot in the face with the very weapons I shared with the newly made companion, I kinda of grew to be a cold blooded assasin of every human beeings met on my path. The other 5% was teaming up with new players, explaining them the game, giving them tips, 50% of them endend up dead by falling from the top of a building or pressing "V" instead of "C" in a staircase (Devil's Castle got a pretty deadly stairway). When I get bored I just go Rambo on everything that moves until I'm dead then I start over...the gathering of the gear is still the best part imo, especially when you get in epic fist fights with every freshie you meet.

I have discovered how to distort space and time in Chernarus+!
GrandHeron replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Yay now I can pretend to be Harry Potter and do the Apparition! Have you tried in 3 stories buildings? Stairs will be useless from now on! -
Why is the Sporter .22 so underpowered?
GrandHeron replied to frenchy789's topic in General Discussion
I consider the Sporter as a pellet gun rather than a lethal weapon. I find it useful to kill zombies without beeing detected by the surrounding players. I still prefer the Amphibia over the Sporter though, as it allows you to carry an heavier caliber (I don't like to carry two weapons as it slows you way too much when you're running). My basic gear would be SKS or Mosin, Amphibia and any of the two .45 caliber pistol or the Magnum. Too bad the mags are really scarce for the Amphibia. -
I have a server in my fav list saying: " I feel like I need to dump a s**t" every 15 minutes or so. The admin of the server put that there...Pretty sure it's the same thing for you as I haven't read anywhere that digestion has been implemented yet. Wich makes me think : " With the crapload of beans that we all ate everytime we play, it would be kinda of funny to have gas issues, wich could eventually reveal your presence if you're hiding from some mean guy in a building" I would stick with canned spaghetti after that.
