Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Shingara replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
My point is there to busy patting themselves on the back. Who knows whats going on, maybe the mod just isnt able to stand on its own as a stand alone game. There are no objectives for players to compete or team together with beyond the sadistic natures it pulls out of people due to trying there hardest to find a reason to play. There are plenty of things they could have pulled out of the hat like putting basic vehicles in before now without the polish etc. And i know they are doing it but its like they had no plan on what todo with the game in a structured maner, the roadmap is more like a target to reach possibly maybe. We have been in alpha for 2 years and the mod was within arma before that. Even done badly would be good and would be acceptable because we are in an alpha. Just look at epoch and what activitys that gives to players and to suggest a group of modders can do it faster then a set up funded team is just no eligable. Even dynamic events would be good at this point just by utilising the zombies and nothing else. -

Its not lazy to take inspiration from a mod or game that does something better then you. Its inspiration on what works, blizzard have been doing it for years and its kept wow as the number one mmo for near a decade. And rocket has the ability to not just ask creators of mods to let him use stuff, he can employ them to create it in DayZ sa and he is constantly banging on about ow if he could only find the right people. And the pure surival game is now a myth, dayz is now how much bleach can i find to force feed to other players. -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
Shingara replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Well a guy ran passed me at about 100 mph whilst blasting labamba over voip, he did about 7 laps around me before he disapeared over the sunset. Now im just gonna take a stab in the dark here but im guessing he was using a speedhack. -
Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]
Shingara replied to Blade4777980's topic in General Discussion
I would say no. The game has been in alpha for 2 years, its built around arma 2 mod yet is not able todo even basic geometry corect like a wall and the ground being solid to zombies. The rubberbanding can become horific and the ability for items being traded to magically vanish is stupid. The bulk of the playerbase think that forcing freshly spawned players to drink bleach whilst they surround you with 5-7 of there fully geared mates is funny but infact is sadistic and the poor fact that the main gameplay is infact run around for a few hours to get geared and then camp against other players as there is basically nothing else todo at this stage. I would suggest getting arma 3 and playing epoch mod on that and then have the free ability to play the original arma 3 and also atlis life mod meaning that if you get bored of one you can flip and jump between the mods and originals. Because the point blank fact is that Dayz standalone just does not stand up against arma 3 and its mods for gameplay and community of players. dayz SA may get better but its not there yet and is basically full of sadists. -

So a clone effect via blanks you mean. hmm interesting. Im personaly interested in it being a true post appocolypse game. The forming of new factions in a hostile world, the recycling of old technology and the retaiming of the lands and a semi civilised world evolving from the dust like mad max. I see it as a survival game like everyone else, i just see it as me survivng with others and not me hiding under a tree hoping zombies dont get me and eating berries till i die of old age. The more that the world can immerse me into that feeling the better, and the more sandbox and persistant the sandbox is the better. I just feel what was held back 2 years ago due to tech limitations is no longer held back by the new tech. And just remember, stand alone was created to stop bandating, its now the core of the game and has failed its initial core ideal. And the Mods for arma 3 are really outshining dayz stand alone for stability, ingame features and community. If dayz stand alone cannot contend against the mods then what is the point of stand alone when arma 3 can give you so much more with a stable game. -

I think in concern to bases its going tobe odd how it will work because no matter who you are, you have to sleep and work at some point and your base will not be defended. If you can respawn every 30 seconds inside your base via an npc and your base is being attacked then it would give an unfair advantage to the defenders as people attacking would have to spawn miles away at the costal area as the most wanted real estate are going tobe the militery bases and the castle which are very deep into the map. How they would or could guard is also going tobe frownd upon by alot but not impossible. If they dont introduce bandit npcs then I personaly think they will not work on the AI for the npcs specifically just for guards to bases and small holdings. If they simply only kill other creatures like zombies and wildlife it might work but then again it would also revolve around how our own companion npcs interact with us and the world. We are going to have some kind of commoditys within the game though as vehicles will probably need fuel aswell as parts, and if they do then the most profitable real estate will become the petrol station on the coast unless we have an alternative way to attain it. -

Actualy in tabletop games NPC refered to characters controled by the gamesmaster whilst in online games refers to any none player controlled character or entity. And the 'We' does not refer to all or this topic would not exists and neither would it appear in Q&A's. And what Dean wants is not going tobe relevent for very long. For the edited part, i dont think anyone has suggested for enemy npcs within this topic but on the point of enemy npcs i think people do not want them specifically because people feel they would be aimbots and not true AI controlled enemys as seen in other fps games like battlefield and dues ex etc. And this isnt a vision for what happens now, this is a vision for what will happen in 1 year from launch, 2 years from launch. How will new interact with old players. How does dayz stand against arma 3 mod, arma 4 mod. What is the tipping point where this game is no longer relevent to new players because they cannot get into it. Give you an example, new player spawns on server that has heavy base development and vehicle control. Has the ability to barracade a house near the spawn area and once barracaded an npc spawns inside, offers a pistol, compass and some bullets if he or she provides some meats and furs and the house itself contains a weapon capable of hunting with and small backpack. This gives the new player the ability to survive long enough to find the rest of there gear like a backpack, food etc and not simply walking into a town, handcuffed, blood drained and forced to drink bleach and abused whilst handcuffed and then shot in the head. -

Mind = Blown. Love your attempts to redefine what a None Player Character is. He said in 2012 that there will never be npc survivors meaning civilians, he also said we would never be able to build bases or barricade because it would just become sandbags and barbwire ^^ and Dean 'Rocket' Hall is no longer in charge Bohemia are, and he is leaving to create a new company in new zealand. Out of all the mods to arma 2/3 this games roadmap is leaning directly at Epoch no matter how much you dont like it. They have purchased a studio to advance the development of the game. We already know there is going tobe quests as they are introducing go fetch quests that are unscripted, Those are the go fetch the part = congrats you have a vehicle. We know we are getting guard/defense dogs and we are getting ridable mounts via horses and vehicles. This game already is a scavanger hunt, this game is heading more deeply into objective based gameplay, its already turning into domination and hold gameplay with persistant bases which they said was never coming. Its introducing crafting systems and vehicles. They are wanting the servers to hold 100-200 people each and like it or not they are going to have todo something to balance the game from the people who have been playing for a year and have setup bases and large clans and death squads guarding and patroling the map in vehicles. If new players cannot gain access to the interior of the map or into large towns to get gear, food and clothes then there needs tobe a system to let them have a chance to survive and not be torture food for the epeens on the server. -
Im not 100% they know how to fix or do it, enviroments and stuff i think they have a handle on, but coding AI im not sure. They are only just getting a handle or so they are sayin on walls and floor geometry. But as you say gecko this is an alpha and is tobe expected.
-
I agree with you that AI is horrible in the game, but i feel its something that is not going tobe addressed until they actualy get some guys or girls in todo the work on AI that really know how todo it. I think the main reason why people dont want bandit AI's in game is simply for the fact they do not trust the devs tobe able to do it properly and that any enemy npc would be insta kill equal to an aimbot.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Shingara replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I think the zombies cannot really be judged at the moment due to the fact they are able to spawn out of thin air infront of you, walk through walls and doors. Somehow can run under the floor and stay on you even when you climb out of reach. But what i would like to see are - 1, More beastial zombies EG run on all fours. Alternative models for zombies EG have an arm missing, show physical damage upon them. 2, The ability to loot zombies, specifically army zombies. Those are the ones in uniform and have the ability to remove there cloths with the possibility ammo clips or weapons upon them. 3, The ability to throw rotten meat near zombies to get zombies to attack each other over the food and to distract zombies so you can get into areas that zombies are or to throw rotten food onto other players to attract zombies to them. 4, Zombie packs that wander in the wild and within towns. 5, remove the somehow god like ability of zombies to know exactly where a gun is being shot from but also make it so that you could shoot a zombie from a great distance and then zombies near it will investigate and eat that zombie instead of instantly running 5 miles to where the gun was shot from. There should be a radius based upon clean sight for zombies to pick up where the person shooting is actualy stood. -
Im with a few others, IED's are the way togo in day z, with vehicles coming into the game i can see IED's being a good introduction to the game.
-
We have rope now so a hook would be a good edition, but ladders im not sure on, i would look like a window cleaner roaming around the game with a ladder over my shoulder. Mind you would make an interesting melle weapon :P
-
I think this is going to happen by default via the changes already on the roadmap for the game. The fact groups are going tobe encouraged to maintain large bases and more then likly the farming out of work to others to maintain the bases whilst the main group actualy defends it.
-
I suppose it all depends on if the game starts to become more of a group orientated gamestyle. If you could lean towards a medic role or pilot and it is enhanced by the time you spend doing those specific things in game. We already have moved more towards group orientated as the bandit deathsquads we currently see and heros guarding bambies. it alll revolves around the fact would something like this be based on experience of doing the job or just grinding xp to some level requirment.
