    Don't be that guy

This must be the guy whose name is on the "blame line".

    Don't be that guy

Check out the movie Open Grave when you get a chance, very similar to DayZ and the plot line you outlined.

Wolves attacking Zeds in Tisy Ville

A pack of wolves on a group of zeds in Tisy Village. I love this!!!

Wolves attacking Zeds in Tisy Ville

I just happened upon this while checking the Tisy road of death convoy. I didn't lead the wolves to the zeds or the zeds to the wolves. It was happening on it's own. I like the world interaction even when a player isn't around.
  11. Yeah, agree, the Alice ruck is way bigger than the Large Alice Ruck. Gravity would make it slump.

    Post Your Gear So Far

Today, only took two heli crashes to complete my Plate Carrier.

    What Makes PVP Fun?

What I expect is interaction. Not the long distance interaction of a bullet in the brain without so much as a how do you do. If that's your style then good on you, what ever. The people I kill have, for the most part tried to kill me first (most people just can't shoot in this game) or are an obvious threat, running at me chain saw raised. Not just some Joe Schmoe I happen to see running down the street who doesn't even know I am there. To me that's not interaction, that's just being a shit for no particular reason.. I'll leave Joe to you, hopefully he's just bait to draw you out.

    What Makes PVP Fun?

That's not "PvP". PvP means BOTH players are aware of the other and are there for the purpose of competition. There's nothing competitive or "sporting" in what you call PvP and that's why I avoid people like they are the plague. So, it is a survival game alright, I survive the murdering little chicken shits and back shooters. I have managed to evade people on public servers since .60 came out, the only deaths I have had have been vehicle glitch related. Oh I have been shot at, even hit, but I have gotten away every time without combat logging, which is what, 9 times out of 10, the turd who shot at me does when he realizes his ambush was shit.

Quacking LOOT IS BROKEN AS DUCK

That which evacuates from the south end of a bull. Loot isn't "broken as fuck". That's a huge overreaction. Looking forward to .61

    What Makes PVP Fun?

Yeah, they wouldn't know "intuitive" if snuck up on them and bit them in the ass with a bear trap. Had one run a hatchback out of gas at a tent city. Here's some more, Can I drive? I am hyperthermic, can you store my gear in that bus if I die? Do you want a pristine sparkplug? Do you want a pristine spark plug? Do you want a pristine spark plug? Do you want a pristine spark plug?

So, character resets are still a thing then.

BTW, I don't set up cache sites because I think I am in control of anything. I do it because I know I am NOT in control, some other asshole is. When that other asshole (who is sometimes me, who hasn't had a death by misadventure in DayZ?) fucks me up I have a place to go to gear up fast. If a player finds a cache site I have set up good for him, most times they are a gold mine with nice gear. I don't stash junk in my cache sites. Preppers don't prep because they think they are in control, they prep because, well, democrats and republicans ...

Persistence is like Appeasement, it works until it don't.

These eggs weren't wiped by an update to a build, they were wiped because the server went bye bye for some reason. That's all, I understand that this is an alpha, right now, I have two things to do, avoid other players and make caches at different locations on the map. I enjoy doing these things. Personally, I am getting pretty sick of the "don't get attached to your gear" crowd and are starting to think of them as having that Aloha Snackbar/YOLO/KoS mentality. There's nothing "wrong" with being attached to your gear during the course of a build. My public character has been killed twice, so far, and both of those deaths were deaths by misadventure involving busses. NOT other players. In one instance I had gear caches I could rely on to regear quickly. In the other, because that server had been lost I did not. DayZ is a SURVIVAL game isn't it?

So, character resets are still a thing then.

Wow, Pilgrim, very comprehensive and thorough explanation of the most likely scenario. Cases of beans for you. Thanks. I am a firm believer of not keeping all my eggs in once basket, hence the reason I'll have many small caches across the map rather than one large all encompassing base. I have to learn to spread that across servers, but remembering where caches on a given server can be a challenge for me.

Pretty sure this wasn't a rented server by anyone or any group.

My favorite public server just went away, where I don't know, it's just no longer showing on the server list. All my good shit was stashed there.
