Pointless game nolonger - or how I learned to love Zombies and KOS players

Sometimes just brandishing an axe is all you need to do. -
You did right, besides moron was zed bait already. Shooting at Zeds, amateur move anyway.

Causes the for existence of KOS.......poll

I think that another answer for KoS is that we cannot use our normal method of determining threat. Humans and dogs (the only other animal that does this and the only other animal that will look where a human points) look at the human face for visual cues which we use to determine flight or fight, we lack this ability in a virtual world. -

What is boils down to is that it is not real. Humans are actually very social animals who would tend to band togather in a situation like this. Of course there would be bandity, as the man said to Daryl "why hurt yourself when you can hurt others?" but that is to be expected to a more limited way, not the extent we see here. However that would more apply to a community. Here we all wash ashore as individuals rather than members of a community or common cultural background. That may explain the whole KOS thing. I do more of the live and let live thing unless I am surprised, then it is shoot first, especially if I turn and see you in the fighting position. That, my friends, is what a degree in Anthropology will do for you. -
how long does dropped gear stay in place?

Right on!!! Was gonna experiment with that. Would be nice to have a stash someplace. -

Oh yeah, and those cool buildings you spoke of usually have Cherno maps in either the public room or the shed on the side. -

Second note, I saw the health vid on YouTube too. However, I was on sever where I nearly starved to death so now I always keep one can of peaches in my pack for emergencies. Peaches are good for hydration and food. I always stop to eat once things have settled down after bleeding too. Next, if you lead zombies right on the coast you can get them to fall off docks and piers. But don't hang around as they may zoom to find you occasionally. Small cargo cases have six slots too and take four in the pack. Ammo cans also take four slots but have 8 slots, but you can only store loose ammo in them, no magazines. Advantage of the cases is that you can view contents in inventory, which you can't currently do with clothes unless you drop them out of inventory. -

If you go a little further north-north west of the cool house (I am guessing it's the one north of NEAF) you'll find a town that has two more of those. It's on the map but has no name. The town is also deserted, no Zed's, no nothing. It has several of the good looting houses for food, a grocery store, several of the larger buildings and a fire station. -
Yes, I have, also wondering about the city North of BPP that is Zed free, has tons of loot and is pretty much people free right now. Is that for urban PVP w/o the zed threat?

There is a way out, try crouching or prone. That usually works for me if I have fallen through stairs.

You are gonna die, accept that and move on or go find another game. When you come back you return to the in-game world as a wholly new person starting from scratch, so don't get attached to your toon or any of their stuff. Luckily you get to remember things. Here are some things I have learned in DayZ that have helped me survive. 1. If you are not armed with a weapon that takes a zombie down in 2 hits then run. Two hit weapons include the splitting axe and the pitch fork. Use melee weapons to kill the infected, never shoot the infected since it attracts more and the one you just shot is like the cylon named Scar, it spawns knowing exactly where you are and is pissed. 2. The infected tend to run in straight lines, this is handy on the coast, especially on dockyards and piers. They will run them selves right off a dock into the water if you lead them right. Also if you are being attacked by another player, bleeding and are pretty sure you won't win, run off the dock, swim out and drop your gear. Makes it harder if not impossible for the asshole/attacker to loot you. You can also just drop loot and hope they take it, but they may just be intent on kill you first. One more thing, if you are being chased by a mob of infected, bleeding and can't stop to bandage yourself start dropping your gear on the road, seem you can't your dead toon but if your dropped the gear you can recover that. 3. Fire axe is the best melee weapon right now, when you find one keep it in slot 1, it's, currently, the only one hit melee weapon on the infected you can get. Paint it if you want, I don't really think it makes any difference, but it looks cooler in black than in green. 4. Get a can opener as soon as you can, axes will open cans but you will lose a lot of food that way. Because of this game I always have a real life can opener in my real life go bag now, I don't carry a can of peaches though (see #5).... 5. Find food asap, always eat everything you find, except you should keep one can of peaches in reserve for the lean times. Drink water whenever you find it, keep at least one canteen, drink from it only when you need to. 6. Never hang around anyplace too long and trust no one. Avoiding people you don't know is the best thing to do if possible, if not either run if they have not seen you or kill them if they have and run your ass away. You can loot but be quick if you must, I advise against this because they may have a buddy in the area, there's plenty of loot around if you know where to look. Until you know what you are doing only venture into villages and cities with extreme caution. 7. There is a ship wreck on the coast north of Berezino, if you spawn in that area go there first and loot it, it is almost always infected free there, has some nice stuff usually and fresh water ponds close by. 8. Remember what the houses you loot look like, some houses will have nothing but there are some that spawn the same types of things and are spread around the map.

I did have this happen to me. All I saw was the leaping shadow of a zombie from behind before the screen went black with the You are dead message. It was the day of the patch outside Electro. -

And one more thing, decay is CRAZY fast, especially on the chest, one hit from a zed and EVERYTHING in my shirt if ruined, including the shirt. -
Why kill someone and not loot them?
barnabus replied to BiGoDeViN (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Here is why I would do that, I would wonder if you had buddies still hanging around, every second I stand around looting your dead ass is extremely dangerous. I am usually not willing to take that risk, especially since I prefer soloing. Don't be pissed, just be happy the guy did NOT kill you with a fire axe after dropping you and choose to run instead, thus saving you from waking up naked., Did you at least loot your buddy and give him his gear back? -

Here goes; a, zombies should NOT EVER be able to catch up to you on a hill, on a flat ok, but on a hill it's ridiculous. However, it would be ok if they are fast up a hill but not as lethal. Don't forget what Sheriff McClelland in Night of the Living Dead said, "Yeah, they're dead. They're all messed up." b. Let's have a slightly longer respawn time or have them respawn someplace else instead of the exact same spot immediately.. 3. breaking line of sight does not seem to work very well now. 4. I noticed that occasionally a zombie will leap at you and miss, if they miss it seems they sometimes die, I like that, please keep that. e. We really need to hear them coming, I got leaped on from behind and only saw the shadow on the ground just before the screen went black and said "You are dead". Lucky hit or what?? That kind of pissed me off, especially since I had just looked behind myself to see if anything was chasing me (didn't see a thing btw). f. I noticed that zombies run in pretty much straight lines and will fall right off a dock if you can get them at an angle. Only thing is it seems that a few minutes later the same zombie/s that fell off the dock into the water will miraculously appear exactly where you are, be extremely pissed and proceed to whale on you with a vengeance... Don't much care for that at all.
