I never fake friendly and have learned that anyone named "Friendly", "Hero" or "Admin" are lying scum and should be KoS along with cannibals. Anyone with an M4, on the coast no less, is up to no good, period. Anyone who attempts to hit me from behind for the knock out that fails and then tries to be friendly--same deal. Finally, there is no such thing as friendly encounters at Balota or NWAF.

. Just so you know you can only server hop on public servers. With the private shards each character is unique to that server. So changing servers on the private shards is by no means hopping. It's nice to not crash out when you have logged in, are stuck in a room you can't get out of and want to move on to a different character on a different private shard.

i see where you are coming from but it might be a bit more elaborate than you think. It could be a ruse. Lull the victim into a false sense of security, offer them the poisoned food and go from there. It might not be as simplistic as you believe.

Yes. I also know how to land navigate with a compass and by terrain association. This map is very accurate so it makes it easy. Find a spot that is easy to remember, like a rock formation. If you have walked far enough and think you are in a safe location you aren't so double the distance you just went, then you are safe. Before you place the tent: Sit quietly or go prone for a few minutes to make sure you were not followed looking back the way you came from. Know where you are on the map in relation to the nearest town, road junction, water source, whatever.. Also, if you have a compass look for a couple of points that you can use, note the directions. This way you know that when the points are lined up with your compass you are in the right area. Before you leave the site completely take a good look around and every once in awhile, on the way out, look behind you so you'll be familiar what it look like to get there. A suggestion is that you research terrain association and orienteering. You will need to learn to trust the compass. These are real skills that come in just as handy here as they will and real life. Remember always that a real man NEVER asks for directions and you are never really lost only slightly and temporarily mis-oriented. Never make a fire near your tent and do not hang around where your tent is placed.

I go hunting, lately I have been going onto another private shard and just starting up a new character there. I try different routes. I have been thinking of basing in one location and seeing how long I can live there before some one kills me.

So I am running around looking for something to eat when behind me I hear that swinging noise. It's a freshie and he is after me and what little I have. I happen to not have a melee weapon but I do have an MP-133 with six slugs so I shoot him three times, twice in the chest once in the legs (MP-133 not so good), his legs are broke so I figure I'll leave it at that, hopefully I ruined his shirt so he won't be able to make a splint or a bandage. I leave him alive but broken and bleeding in the bushes by the road. I go into the house just up the road and lock the door behind me to check the house out. There is food! Excellent since I am at orange hungry. So I eat, then I hear a banging on my door. Low and behold it's a freshie. He asks me not to shoot him (hmm, it was raining pretty hard, how did he know I had a weapon?) and asks for love for a fresh spawn. I tell him to piss off. I am pretty sure it is the same guy because now he isn't wearing a shirt and it seems like the YOLO Modus Operandi is to try to attack and if that fails to try to lull you into a sense of security and attack you later. Not 100 % sure but sure enough, at least in the high eighth percentile. The lesson I learned is that I should have shot him in the back of the head after I broke his legs, then I could have been 100% sure it wasn't the same guy.. Anyway, happy maintenance day everyone!!

Yes and yes and not quite, some items may or may not respawn but not necessarily at restart, it could spawn right in front of you.

You don't need a pan to roast meat. Learn your local area, craft some stuff, then go explore the map. Don't get comfortable with one character. You will die, either from a glitch, lag, falling off a cliff, stairs, etc, or player, whatever, but you WILL DIE, get used to that and don't take it personal. If you don't know how to navigate by terrain association this is a great way to learn a skill you can use in RL. You can combine pieces of the Cherno maps to make one large map. It is pretty accurate too, very good to navigate with, I hardly even use a compass.

1, yes it is random, open doors no longer mean someone has necessarily been there, neither do closed doors mean anything, unless you are super paranoid.2, it does not reset on restart like it used to on non persistent servers, things may or may not randomly spawn. Because of this new system it is, sometimes, a kind of feast or famine thing, depends where you end up. Some places will have loot galore others are Donner Party some are normal. You will find some spots that will spawn items as soon as you pick something up. Servers with persistence off are more like the old loot system. A great addition were the private hives, there is no server hopping on those since each server is unique. This helps keep loot from getting robbed on one server and taken to another.

Agreed, I haven't seen a stanag mag at a barracks, tent, jail or police station since they moved the tent city from Balota to Sticksville. Maybe even longer than that...

Wait until you hear it at night. Jeez Louise...... I was searching Novo in the wee hours of the morning on an experimental server and I kept hearing that. Novo is kinda spookey anyway at night and when you add that laugh, oi! Spooked the shit outta me, I had NO IDEA what it was, I thought it was a hacker so I logged.

Today was not so good. Had a decent character going, AK74 with 1 mag and 110 loose rounds for it, a Mak, plenty of mags and ammo, even a CR75 with a mag and some loose rounds. Then a Barn, way up north, ate me, either that or it was a super duper invisible ninja hacker, but I think it was the barn. I just was looking for a stupid pistol flashlight for the CR75, not being greedy or dumb and the barn was clear.. Dammit.

Not to mention it's vulnerability is Christmas music, it just can't abide it.

It happens, I found my self spawning in and hearing the character being beaten before I could see anything but the load in screen. When I did finally see something it was the black "You are unconscious" screen. I don't even know if it was a zed hitting me or another player (I think it was a player since I didn't hear the zed make any of the usual noises). I read in the devblog that this is being worked on but we shall see.

i wish. I had a vest on with two pistols inside that took several round from an SKS, I didn't even bleed. So I figured I go with two kevlar helmets and I should be golden. Nope, didn't help even a little bit.
