The zeds in DayZ are more like the ones in this movie; or these They are not at all like the zeds in Walking Dead or Night of the Living Dead or Maggie. There is no "necroambulist virus" in DayZ.

I have over 3000 hours in and the only game I can compare that to is Star Wars Galaxies, not quite 3000 but pretty damn close. Being unemployed sucks. I dream about DayZ for cripes sake.

Double edged sword here, I believe they wanted player input during early access, without early access no player input and no one gets to bitch about the game until they buy a substandard 1.0. Look at what happened to Star Wars Galaxies after the release of the "New Game Enhancements". The NGE were the direct result of a focus group composed of people who had never even played the game. Before the NGE becoming a Jedi was a goal and very tough quest to even get the chance to begin the training for it. You had to master many professions, with the NGE Jedi became a starting profession for cripes sake. NGE changed the entire feel and play of the game overnight without ANY input whatsoever from the players and it came just days after a major add on was released that most players pre-purchased before NGE was even announced. SOE ended up refunding everyone who purchased that update. Then the game went on to die a very slow and very agonizing death with server merges becoming routine. They even had a "Rewards Program" for players dedicated to destroying old player houses and structures that had been abandoned after people quit the game. It was a huge fiasco and earned a lot of hatred for SOE, justified or not.

In the early stages of the illness in "The Crazies" there is still some cognitive function. In the later stages, however, you see the same man who burned down his house with his wife and children inside in the jailhouse being more like what we have in DayZ. As players, we have no idea what went before we washed ashore in Chernarus. Even in the Zombie film "Maggie" the infected are not zombies until they go through "the turning". They are not zombified in the what? 10-12 second they were in "WWZ", in "Maggie" it takes weeks. It's not that it is all that important but I have seen people posting in these forums wanting zeds to be only killed with a head shot. Those folks don't seem to understand, like you contend, that "everyone knows exactly what people are referring to when the word zombie is used". Everyone does not and the proof is here in the forums. There is a school of thought in Linguistic Anthropology that shows the false implications of words leads to misunderstanding. Such as storing "empty fuel cans" in an area marked for the storage of empty cans. There was actually a huge fire caused in such a case when someone flung a cigarette butt into an area so marked. Yes the cans were empty of fuel, but the fuel isn't what is flammable, it's the fumes and vapor that were still present in the "empty" fuel cans. In reality, although the fuel cans had no fuel in them they were not "empty", in this case, empty did not equate with safe. There are still PLENTY of isolated areas on the map. There will still be plenty of isolated areas on the map once the NW is done, which it isn't btw. I have a 3 tent camp set up on experimental that is in a very good spot not too awful far from NEAF. It's not so crowded as people make it out to be. You have to learn to take advantage of what terrain there is.

Got it but .57 isn't even out on experimental yet. In .56 places that used to spawn certain things spawn completely different things now or nothing at all, places that spawned nothing now spawn all kinds of things. Prepackaged foods are pretty damn rare at the moment. Lots of people have reverted to the Hunter/Gatherer mode of survival or rage quit after starving to death several times.

So I am watching an episode of How it's Made on the Science Channel last night and they show how the hay bailers that make round hay bails are made. That got me wondering. Where are the all tractors and other farming equipment that ought to be rusting in the collective farms all over the map? We have rusting bulldozers, bucket loaders and other implements of mining in the mine areas yet all we have for farm equipment atmospherics are some hoes, shovels and pitchforks. And the cow barns, I spent some time around cow barns as a kid and I can tell you the shovels we got in game now ain't worth a shit for shoveling it. While we're at it, there ain't no wheel barrows either, that we can use that is.

I fell in that frigging pond, damn near impossible to get out of it. Had to swim under the steps, log out and log back in. The relog had me standing on the steps rather than treading water under them.

These are up north. On the map I have marked them as Point A and Point B. At point A I was turning my truck around and it "fell" into some kind of hole and off the map. I even heard the Doppler effect of the truck getting further and further away until I could hear it no longer. Needless to say this killed my character. At Point B I found what appears to have been a mixed column of armor and soft skinned vehicles that met an ambush and an unfortunate end, I call it the Dirt Road of Death. I have attached a picture. Ignore the blue cargo truck on the left, that is the one I lost at Point A.

it just reminded me of The Highway of Death in Kuwait. So I went with that...

I logged back in today, went back up to check the Dirt Road of Death and saw the truck off in the distance. You can see from the video what happened then.

What the hell, I give him a 6 just for the look on his face. If you'd've kept rocking her back and forth you would have cleared the fence in a feet without all the drama that followed.

Oddly though, when it works right, they'll out run your truck pretty much at light speed.
