I had absolutely zero experience with the game or the controls, I went up to towards the construction site in Berezino, went into a house that is super low yield found nothing and then was attacked by a zed which got me bleeding. I had no idea what to do or even how to do it. I bled out very quickly. Then I went to the wiki to try to figure some stuff out. I like to start games that way, it gives me a good feel for the learning curve.

I don't think you have been on at night recently, it does not go pitch black anymore, there is plenty enough ambient light to see pretty well. Night looks more like an old black and white episode of the Twilight Zone these days. Nothing, I don't feel like I need any source of light at all and for the naysayers I leave my gamma and brightness at the default setting. Like I said above, there is plenty of ambient light, but, if I absolutely, positively can't do with out because I've fallen into a well kind of need a light I'll use the pistol mounted light. If I am not mistaken though doesn't the the weapon flashlight for rifles should fit on the cross bow? At night don't run as much, you run into zeds that way and I mean right on top of them before you see them so move at a walk/light jog. Only run if you are bailing because you have to. Light fires in all the light houses you see. Break all chemlights and light all flares. Also, you can light as many gas lamps as you can find canisters for, it makes the cities look alive when you do that and tends to make other players suspicious.

Cattle prod seems pretty useless on zeds, have not tried it or the stun baton or the telescoping baton on a player. Stun Baton worked best on the zed, as far as the telescoping baton I could not get a hit on a wicked Uncle Ernie with it so put it up and went back to fisticuffs.

It'll be an option in a future build. A fun way to suicide now is to get a horde of zeds to follow you to a high traffic area and let them beat you to death there. Then they will lie in wait for the next unsuspecting hiker to show up.

I don't really have a dog in this fight since I mostly just play in 1st person, BUT, I voted leave it alone precisely because this is not an issue upon which the fate of western civilization rests. I got a zed to aggro on the one tailing me like that, then I bailed on him and left him to his fate. Another guy kept trying to talk to me, I kept trying to evade but he kept following me, so, I gave him a a pair of matching sucking chest wounds from my SKS. Leave me alone and I will leave you alone.

Today was ok so far, my guy at the static crash didn't find shit so I ran up to a feeding station close by and found a tent!!! First one I have found. So I abandon the static crash and head north. Set up my tent in an isloated location and stash some stuff. Then I went looking for more stuff and found an SKS, which I have stashed in my tent along with some ammo for it. George Carlin would be proud that I now have a place for my stuff. In the process of a new search found a pristine fire axe to store in my tent for fire wood and looking for some ammo for the mosin w/LRS I found. I believe that grenades must be either pristine or worn for them to work. If the are in a damaged condition they are most likely duds. However, keep them, because if you chuck one into a room with other players in side they won't know if it's a dud or not unless they take the time to check, by that time you should have killed them.

Hmm, ran around the NE, got some nice loots. My regular guy is running the northern route and is in the country side out side of Grishino (NE side). Had an encounter where I chatted with someone but shots were not exchanged, kind of nice for a change. Tomorrow I plan on having him bypassing NWAF and the Vybor mil bases and heading into Vybor proper to look for a magazine for my CR 527 or, if I have to, make a quick run into the NWAF tent city to grab just an SKS at a BRDM spawn. But I know I'll get stupid greedy, go look for more stuff and get my dumb ass perished in the process. My Hardcore trooper is hanging around Riffy checking the static crash for gear from time to time. Found a pilots helmet and that is about all so far.

Nah, don't run, fight, just go for it, most of the time they don't expect it. You may get killed anyway but this way they ruin your gear and get squat. Added bonus is you make them use ammunition which is gonna get harder to find in the coming updates.

It's always a good idea to know where the nearest ladder is too, they can't follow you up a ladder.

In the bad old days it was a plastic baggie, not always a ziplock, that held $10 US of weed, they called it a "dime" because in US Coinage a 10 cent coin is called a dime. Ahh, but they do, just not as often as the other truck, even the pick ups on their sides will spawn loot, right now, as far as I can tell the only vehicle that NEVER spawns anything are the BMPs. Even the BRDMs are good for an SKS almost everytime I've found one. Check everything to be safe, that is the best policy. I, however, do not ever check apartment blocks, seems like a big waste of time.
