    Win32

My system wasn't infected with malware, I took care of it before that. Also, yes malware can "miraculously start itself". Malware usually comes bundled with other programs not by itself, nobody goes and clicks on malware itself, no wonder you are always cleaning up your moms computer. Unless you do nothing but use wikipedia then you are bound to get malware at some point without any protection. After a decade of using windows xp perfectly fine without any malware, amazingly enough with the same protection I used on windows xp malware rears its ugly head. I know what it was bundled with, and downloading the same thing on a win xp machine doesn't give you any malware amazingly enough.

Weird item damage upon logging in

I logged in yesterday to find my gorka shirt ruined as well as everything in it, so okay, I figured maybe a zombie had attacked me immediately after I logged out or something. The strange thing about it was I had just found an ammo box at a heli crash (first one in a while) and I had it in my backpack, well the ammo box and a few stacks of ammo were completely ruined while a few other stacks were in between badly damaged and worn... the backpack itself was completely fine and untouched. What could have caused this? Is this a bug or some feature I'm not aware of such as maybe an ammo explosion or something? I didn't post this under bug feedback because I don't know if it is one or what happened at all.

Oh, didn't realize that. I never see them there even after gunfire.

    Scopes, locations etc.

Scopes occasionally spawn in some civilian buildings: 1 story restaurants on the front bar or shelves behind them, upstairs in the 2 story green ones in the balcony room, city corner restauants and the building you mentioned. I believe there are some others as well, such as some industrial and civilian "storehouse" buildings with the metal shelves in them, I might be wrong about that but I think I remember finding them there before unless that has changed. Scopes is one of those items that can spawn in unlikely structures.

Weird item damage upon logging in

I believe I actually did doubleclick the ammo box into my inventory because I was at a heli crash out in a field, though the shirt and everything inside of it I'm pretty sure I didn't. I mostly keep fruit, sodas and stuff in my shirt which I don't doubleclick because it screws up my hotbar. The ammo box was damaged when I picked it up, but not ruined and I had been playing for a while until I logged out and never noticed it becomming ruined, I am definately sure the items in my shirt weren't ruined when I logged. Nope, no grunting or anything, logged out one day, logged in the next day and had ruined gear. I honestly can't remember if my character was healing or not, but didn't notice any difference in the screen. When I logged out the day before there was only me and 2 other clan members on the server as well, also I was at vybor military base which is a strange place for a sudden zombie attack. I was thinking they might have added ammo explosions in the last update, which would be interesting but annoying probably. That would still be odd though because nothing else in my backpack was any more damaged or ruined. Not upset about it and our (private) server was moved earlier today anyways and wiped, just figured I would make a post about it and see if anyone else has experienced this or what it might be.

Server Hoppers Plus A Video On Peaches.

I play on private servers, not because its gets rid of the server hoppers, but its a nice side effect because I don't have 5 people spawning in behind me when I hit a military base and 50 people haven't looted it already. Still even I am guilty of it somewhat, when I know the server is going to restart soon I head for an area with gear I want and log out until the restart. This isn't exactly server hopping, but at least I'm not sort of ghosting into peoples locations, whoever was or wasn't there before restart it will still be the same.

Animals spin in one place. Humorous bugs FTW!

A saw a cow doing circles around 4 zambies in a place where I didn't even think either of them spawned.

Mosquito/Nat/Fly Sounds. - TAKE THEM OUT.

I was inside a jail yesterday and there was a dragonfly hovering in front of my face, I couldn't figure out if DayZ had always been like that or if this was new. Odd thing about those ocean sounds is they seem related to lag spikes somehow, my game will freeze for a few seconds every now and then for no apparent reason and when it comes back the ocean swooshing suddenly gets much louder. Doesn't happen often enough to be a serious problem, but is still a pain in the ass.

    Win32

Installing Win 7 didn't miraculously make me make any more sketchy clicks, so not sure what your point is. And yes many times it is a matter of what OS you use, unless you are the alien mothership in independence day. Not many people use XP anymore which is the reason why people aren't developing much malware specifically for it anymore, all the casual PC users now have Win 7. On top of that Win XP has been patched and refined for a decade, it is a simpler operating system with less holes and vulnerabilities, so regardless of any support it is still more secure than Win 7. In fact, they were still releasing security updates as of the time that I installed Win 7, which wasn't very long ago. Look harder, I wasn't the only person who used XP or XP compatibility to run DayZ faster. DayZ doesn't need that much memory to run smoothly, not even close to the max amount a 32 bit Win XP OS can provide. My DayZ ran on windows XP with crap system specs faster than a lot of people with new $1000 computers, I often found myself helping others optimize their rediculously OP systems for DayZ while playing on a tin can.

    Worst losses.

Makes sense, I used to get a little upset when hackers killed me but I haven't seen an obvious one in a while. M4s used to be really common so the rarity of them is lost on anyone who played during that.

    Invisible zombies after patch

Happened to me in Berenzino yesterday, I just ran off a little ways from it and it eventually appeared again. Has anyone tried chopping randomly or where they think its at and can it be hit still while invisible?

    Worst losses.

Am I the only DayZ player in the world who doesn't care or get all butthurt about losing gear? I actually enjoy starting as a new spawn because it changes it up and gives me something more to do again. Being fully geared up and sitting at NW with a hundred cans of peaces gets old after a while, don't even care about looting corpses.

    Win32

I used Win XP up until the last DayZ patch and haven't had a virus or malware for years. I installed Win 7 to play DayZ and boom... new malware I have to take care of almost immediately. Also, DayZ performance took a hit from it. If they decided tommorrow that they would support Win XP, I would reinstall it regardless of any memory concerns.

Has player speed been slowed down to realistic levels now?

Seems like since the patch yesterday you run slower with a weapon out than before, but with hands free speed is as usual. Might just be my imagination.

What new items do you want to see In the near(ish) future?

More guns. Heavy weapons. Explosive weapons and items. Many more vehicles incl whirly birds. And more guns, so many different guns that seeing the same one twice requires a lot of looking. Examples include: FN FAL (I think this is already on the list?) A skorpion (why is this not in the game already, should have been one of the first weapons) An M40 rifle Heavy machine guns, mountable tripods and the ability for them to pull straight out of ammo boxes. Different variations and sizes of the Uzi Grenade launcher attachments with various grenade types. (Illum, stun, gas, HE, etc) High cap shotguns .50 BMG rifles (Beowolf, Barret M82, Steyr HS) Mortars Anti-Vehicle heavy weapons (javelins, RPGs etc) C4 and other explosives A sexy benelli shotgun or something An oldschool tommy gun (to go with the tracksuit and skullcap, should also make your character sound italian) Grenades that actually work A working hind and blackhawk Light tanks and armored vehicles An ice cream truck No more pens please, for the moment.

  19. While I was reading this: http://dayz.com/blog/status-report-17-feb-15 It made me think about an idea I had a while ago. Right now there is no value in any ruined items in the game outside maybe clothes, what if you could take 2 ruined items of the same type and make them into one badly damaged item which could then be repaired from there the normal way items can be repaired now. That would be some incentive to carry around a ruined peice of rare equipment that otherwise would just be sitting there useless. IRL if you know your way around, say... computer hardware or something, theres a good chance you can take 2 broken PCs and make one good one out of it, this also applies to just about anything else and to me it seems to fit well in a survival scenario as you would be scavenging for just about anything worthwhile no matter the condition. Though I never imagined anything would be done with those machine shops in game, I had previously thought about using them for the same things. Perhaps more mechanically complex or delicate items would require the equipment in these or other shops to be able to make a badly damaged item from 2 ruined ones, such as scopes or firearms. Other types of items like axes might require a table clamp or maybe just a hammer, nails and duct tape/rope or something to pound the axehead back on and whatnot. There would be many items that obviously you wouldn't be able to do this with as well, such as ruined food or containers.

Take 2 of the same ruined item and make badly dmg one

That's the idea, take parts from one item and use them to replace the bad ones on the other.

    DayZ.exe not a valid win32 app

The game is still availible for a 32 bit OS isn't it?

What happens when you try to start it?

Preparing to Launch DayZ and nothing happens.

Ah, yea download and install runtime as Franzuu said. I think DayZ itself also has a runtime installer packed with it. (Steam\steamapps\common\DayZ\_Commonredist\vcredist\2013\vcredist_x##.exe) Install the version for your OS, x64 for 64 bit windows 7, etc.

Preparing to Launch DayZ and nothing happens.

You could try what the forum guy said and check your firewall. I don't know about the action center but I know you can go into the Control Panel > Windows Firewall, then click advanced settings, it will open another window and on this click the Inbound Rules tab thingy, in the list that comes up look for one (or more) that says DayZ, right click and choose properties and under "Action" make sure all of them are set to "Allow this connection". You may have to perform similar steps if you have another firewall installed (such as AVG firewall or something), and it could even be possible that your anti-virus program has disallowed it for some stupid reason so might have to check both of them. If this doesn't work, do me a favor and after or while you are trying to run DayZ open up the windows task manager (hold ctrl+alt, then type the del key) and click the processes tab. Start the game with the task manager open and watch what the "DayZ.exe" or "DayZ_BE.exe" processes do, see if it just disappears or if it stays there and which one starts/which one doesn't etc... or if it even does at all. Now that I think of it, go to your DayZ directory inside steam (Steam\steamapps\common\DayZ\) and try running both of the exe files in there (DayZ.exe, DayZ_BE.exe) see if one works and the other doesn't.

Preparing to Launch DayZ and nothing happens.

No I don't think you want to do that. I've been told that win xp compatibility mode doesn't work either (gives the same error as actual win xp), but it might be different for you who knows. Many people ran in win xp mode or windows xp itself for fps. If you haven't already, try verifying your local game files through steam. Right click DayZ in steam and click properties, you can then find it in the local files tab I believe. It might take a couple minutes for it to check your game files. All else fails, uninstall and completely reinstall the game.
