Screen resolution gone crazy after DAYZ crash

Theres two resolution options, one for the menu and one for the game, set them to what they need to be and restart the game, your computer will figure the rest out. A friend of mine had the same problem, or set the one with the percentages to 100% then restart the game. Additionally you could try to set the game to windowed mode and then restarting, at some point your set up will update and give you the right settings. -

Statistically people who played the mod, compared to people who play the standalone is in minority.. Just saying. Check dayz mods number of unique players compared to copies of SA sold. So you NEED more calibers for this game to be hard? Is it that unthinkably difficult for you to remember 10-15 calibers and their respective weapons? Why not actually focus on decease or environment to make the game hard. I understand your point, but this is not the solution. Your misguided fight for realistic calibers is nothing more than a witch hunt for "casuals" who havent played the mod and dont understand what Dayz is all about. And yes ofcourse loot economy will balance out the spawns of ammo, and food and every other item in the game, it is literally its only purpose. Exactly what it is designed to do, now rarer items will have more specific and unique parameters to the amount of these items, but why would you think trash items or ammo wouldnt be affected and balanced as well? -

ok... thx for the lesson in 2nd degree math but.. you fail to make your point. Loot economy is also about adjusting the number of spawns and the likelyhood of items even spawning, right now loot spawns almost everywhere and in excess but that is in no way an inclination of the future. A building is not always going to spawn stuff and most likely will never be filled to the brim like most houses are now. or military loot locations for that matter. Your point is moot. its all included in loot economy and balancing. Oh and btw. Im in no way saying "dont ever add new calibers" and the dev team has specifically already said that they WILL add more specialty ammo for those rarer, hard to get weapons. I just dont see why we would take a step backwards and add more identical calibers for issues that can easily be addressed in other ways. -

So wait for loot economy? if all you care about is rarity, why not make that point instead? The only reason ammo, and everything else, is so plentiful at the moment is because no actual balancing has begun. that's the thing though, it doesn't have a very good reason.. and if it did its not coming across in this thread, or any other ive read, and ive read plenty. -

Its not a matter of changing a couple numbers, if that was all then it would have no effect either way. But your introducing 2-4 new calibers into a system with relatively little weaponry to support it. Its changing rarity and effectiveness of firearms, into a loot table already fed with so many trash items. Its not that people dont want "right" calibers its that they dont want MORE calibers for no apparent reasoning at all. Except " ROCKET GIFF RIGHT CALIBERS, REALISM!" -

Alright let me comment on each of these points individually ok. Depth. Not something limited to realism, seeing as most if not all features and content will add depth. Complexity. Sure, sure. The thing with games though, is that people need clarity when first starting out so complexity for no apparent reason makes no sense. Not everyone wants to study for a week before being able to play a game.(i dont mind) Variety. Ok ok, i just think time could be spent on making content that would then actually be varied. See what i did there. Raises the skill gap. Fine, if you want to feel superior in a game which only skill gap would be memorizing calibers sure. "Realism adds all these, it is not hard to grasp realism makes the game deeper and thus more fun with a longer lifespan." Ooooh wow you're good, you made that sound like a fact and not an opinion, but whatever lets roll with it, -

What does it add? pls educate me. Realism for realism's sake? Do we need shoe sizes as well? makes perfect sense, right. The game is built by Bohemia interactive, its all about realism. That argument makes perfect sense because zombies. Now i dont mean to question the almighty wisdom of mr. 1400 posts and 3500 posts, but it seems to me that you want to go outside a bit more, its about as realistic as it gets. Could it be related to spawning next to yourself? theres the bug when you load in, you spawn next to a copy of yourself and sometimes, that clone doesnt despawn or go away. Maybe someone found the clone and looted it? -

the SE and DE servers on experimental have night time for a reasonable amount of time because they have 3 hour restarts instead of the "dumb" imo 1 hour restarts the rest of the servers seem to have :/ But they are bugged or something right now and have been for a while, you cant join them :/ they show they have ppl on when you check "favorites" or "history" but are empty on "internet"

I dont see why you would care? as you said, your a fresh spawn, you have NOTHING to lose.. Maybe you should consider changing tactics to not just running for berezino police station each time you die. Theres a whole lot of map just waiting to be explored. (Without people camping the houses)

I really couldnt care less about gun calibers, really not adding or taking away from the game experience -
So i have been searching around for a little while for information about the different calibers and pistols in dayz, and i havent found much. Ive manually checked the information about pistols on the dayzdb website, however according to that there are no differences between the 4 sidearms, and i dont get it. So if you could be kind and explain the correct information or guide me to it, that would be great. What i am looking for basically is like, the diffence between firing acaps or 9mm or 22mm not being a gun nut, i have no freaking idea.

I think they patch the game more often than we think, alot of the things they fix are probably done with server side updates and i think zombie behavior is one of them (to an extent) -
The problem is that the scope in Dayz has 3 chevrons, and i dont know what they correspond to. Looking at wikipedia i was able to find a picture of the reticle used and after reading up on it, it would seem that you can zero the weapon normally and the 3 chevrons are for targets that range over 1000m

So i follow most of the dev team (tweets, bogs, occasional reddit) and one of the things they talked about for this update was sticks spawning in the forests, and ive been looking and looking and i cant find any, even running around in 3rd person looking at the ground from directly atop. So do they spawn? is there a technique? i cant imagine how difficult it must be to find one in 1st person mode with all the fauna. just to be clear ive run from new town to nwaf to polana to krasnostaf and back to devils castle.

lol.. so yeah. thats the point! I dont know if you missed that? And how will it affect the final release in your opinion? seeing as the game is playable in early alpha and they have 2 million playtesters and tons of tons of bugs being found, its going to be a better game for it. More polished, less bugs and better balance.
