player characters are too fat for an apocalipse
M0RG0TH replied to papazombie's topic in General Discussion
There was some talk going around of the possibility that our characters may grow beards based on how long we survive. -
100+ hours in dayz and I still haven't been killed by anyone playing by themselves. Its really just frustrating to me that I spend a few hours on a character gathering items together on servers barely populated. To die in a situation I couldn't use the gear I just spent hours getting to fight back with, in which the teamwork of the enemy was only possible via out of game communications, every single time. Every single time I've been shot down its because I got jumped by multiple people in a situation I could do nothing about. Almost instant death with hours of progression lost every single time, then you start over and realize there was never any progression at all. Dieing to a single person would be great, but hasn't happened yet. Every single death of mine was by groups who play this more as Arma2 than a zombie survival game. Instant kos, body shots, they don't care about loot. Am I the best DayZ player? Absolutely not. I've had my share of combat encounters, and I've died plenty. But never to a single person who was taking me on alone. I believe I'm done with this game for now. I need some time to think about If I feel the game is worth putting further time into. I have no doubt that if I keep playing some solo player will bring me to my end at some point. I'm just really discouraged by and against the idea that all my time spent on any character has a much greater chance of dieing in an unfair situation by a group I could do nothing about. A situation where you couldn't even fire a shot in defense. So you don't even get the fun of using your gathered loot. Gathering loot isn't fun if you know you probably won't get the chance to use it. I understand its just a part of the game and its how they have fun. But I'd honestly rather die by a hacker, or glitch in any way, aimbot me, teleport me through 3rd floor wall, anything. At least that situation isn't suppose to happen knowing it might get fixed one day. Majority of players I see in game aren't alone. These gang raped situations are suppose to happen based on how the game is played and the varied maturity level of those who play it. And its not something you can fix or fight against without doing the same and playing with groups of friends. Not something I'm willing or want to do. Now I know what rocket meant when he said DayZ was fundamentally flawed. Whether he meant in this specific way or not. It goes to show it has many. This isn't meant to be a rage "Fix the game" thread, not at all. This is me realizing DayZ itself is not a game I enjoyed based on how it actually plays out, but the core idea of DayZ to me is still and forever will be incredibly appealing, which I believe connects us all. And that it is okay for others to express similar feelings without verbally attacking the game, its associations, and or those with differentiating opinions. Simply quickly put, I'm saying at its current stage DayZ is not for me and I'm not afraid to say it. And just because mine and others opinion is that DayZ is fundamentally flawed, does not in anyway mean the game cannot be enjoyed. And if what I have said so far offends you or deeply conflicts with what you believe I apologize, I never meant to offend anyone. I just wanted to state what I believe as calmly as I can appear to put it with how frustrated and disappointed I feel. Farewell for now and godspeed.

I server hop when I log on and there is no loot. I'm not talking about inside of a military base which has a good chance of being empty. But a normal house in the middle of no where empty. When you know the rest of the server is empty as well. I switch servers because I'm a believer in respawning loot and its absence gnaws at my soul and damages this gaming experience for me.
-
Well, the server needs to stop overriding my client and teleporting my character back up 2nd floor hospitals beside the staircase, I don't want to fly out of the balcony.

I've never generated a blood type that wasn't O+ or O-. =/
-
Why shoot? Why do babies shit themselves?
-
I really don't think so.

Oh I know. Half these people are stating its my lack of adequate gaming skill is the reason I'm dieing to groups only, which makes sense considering I have never died to a solo player >_>. I know this because I've killed all the solo players who "tried" to sneak up on me in self defense or successfully ran away or stayed hidden from them. I do play stealthily, I try not to get seen, and when I do, I can usually sneak/run away from people without taking any fire, and If I cant get away without taking fire, I can get the kill even though that's not how I enjoy playing. I've died plenty no doubt, like I said I'm no way near the best. But I'm sure not the worst. And I can definitely shoot in this game. I have no problem defending myself from solo players or disorganized groups. But groups that know what they are doing, groups that are patient, and skilled. You don't know you've been spotted, you still look out for anyone, but you won't spot or hear them. You go into your last building and you don't even know it. They all converge hidden in the buildings outside. The moment you leave the door they light you up. No robbery or anything fun like that, just death from M4 spray in multiple directions. My idea was that I was playing DayZ, a zombie survival game, not participating in the Alamo. I simply had the wrong idea when buying the game.
-
As a player who mostly plays alone, I do end up relying on stealth more than anything. Which makes it an even harder pill to swallow when you get killed by a group of bandits who spotted you despite not wanting to be seen and could of been watching and following you for god knows how long. When they strategize and use that type of ruthless deadly efficiency to kill, it feels very helpless knowing you are so vulnerable to groups like that when alone. In different words, you feel vulnerable knowing the hours you put into a character can be deemed completely wasted should you run into a group of bandits who want your death, assuming there was no means of escape. So for me, knowing that can happen, have trouble deciding to play the game to begin with. :(
-
Sadly, the experiences I have had are groups using good strategies with tactical precision to overkill 1 player who is enjoying the game by themselves. More than once I've gone into a what I thought was an empty town/city on fairly low pop servers. If they were in an open field I would of avoided them like the plague. What I suspect they do is separate in multiple different buildings while keeping voice contact. When one of the group spots me entering the town he warns the rest and they all converge onto my location. Unless you spot them before they jump you, there is almost no way you can know whats about to happen. And unless they attack you one by one, there is almost nothing you can do to fight back. Its really "effective"....

My many enjoyable DayZ experience is what gives me hope for the future and what will make me want to come back one day. Its interesting how some experiences you can have while playing, can feel like they taint any past and future experiences you could have with the game. I have met some very bad manipulative people while playing DayZ, and experienced some all new human lows, even for the internetz. :(

What is your most defining karmic choice you've made so far?
M0RG0TH replied to TrampoAG's topic in General Discussion
I was looting NEAF top floor. Some guy comes up stairs fully geared. Aim my pistol and fire 3 shots, all miss. He runs outside, I run after him. Another guy runs into base as we run out. Mass confusion. In the end I gave the guy I tried to shoot a CR75 pistol and a mag with some ammo and we traveled close to NWAF before D/C. -
Said it perfectly. Not that I don't like human interaction, but that being the only source of fun in DayZ atm gets old. Losing yourself in the wilderness to survive will be refreshingly new.

Can you tell the direction which fire is coming from?
M0RG0TH replied to Sebidee's topic in General Discussion
Nice reading comprehension genius. DayZ is more like 200+ feet and you hear no shot. Next time you want to be an asshat and act condescendingly stick your head up your fucking ass and proceed. -
Lol at those claiming 1PP requirez more skillz than 3PP. Why are you bitching about being able to see around corners? Obviously its not realistic, obviously this is a game. Obviously you can't handle it or you wouldn't be bitching about it playing on a server with it completely turned off like a child.

After a certain distance you can't even hear the gunshot. -
Where are all the pistol clips?

Are the Devs aware of the lack of loot spawning?
M0RG0TH replied to nvrsbr's topic in General Discussion
Quite simply put, the rarer you make loot. The more KoS and banditry you have. Whether good or bad. I'm a hardcore believer in respawning-loot for DayZ and its absence makes the game feel broken for me. For starters I dislike having to spend 10+ minutes joining and leaving servers that have been stripped of loot. Its a fucking annoyance and breaks immersion no excuses or exceptions. Especially when you just wanted to play for a bit, you end up quitting and picking a different game to play with a more competent development team that doesn't implement mechanics that require other missing mechanics to succeed. That design choice is fucking stupid plain and simple. Game feels broken without respawning loot. Other than that one missing mechanic the game is very enjoyable. Edit: This isn't a rage, I know they will eventually add some form of respawning loot. Just saying without it feels extremely empty. -
Can anyone justify the low price of this game anymore ?
M0RG0TH replied to acoastalhero's topic in General Discussion
The game is not completed yet, and many features that have been added can be changed or removed in the future. We are not playing the full version, so we don't have to pay for the full version. If we are talking actual worth based on mechanics and features in game. The game is fun but has contradictory design flaws in my opinion. For instance loot doesn't respawn, so many many servers are cleared of loot, yet there is a long timer to switching servers. So if you're a new spawn and actually need loot, log on a server that is empty in your area, you can safely assume the rest of the map has been looted as well. You're forced to server hop and endure the server switching timer to play. This is a big contradiction in mechanics for me and is the only thing that would make me want my money back, not that my opinion even matters or that I'd even get/want my well-spent money back. -
Don't worry about finding pistols that isn't the hard part. Worry about finding the clip and ammo to the pistol you decided to take with you.

Anyone else hide weapons to prevent others from looting them?
M0RG0TH replied to thequantum's topic in General Discussion
I only do that if I find a worn or pristine scope and don't need it. -
I don't think it should load your character inside of the server until the whole server is finished loading, no black screen logging in, no frustrating deaths in this situation.

Its funnier when you make blood pour using just your fist.

Now that looting towns is so "risky" due to the Zed threat..
M0RG0TH replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
Looting towns is definitely harder as a freshspawn now than before. I enjoy it. :P
